Welcome
editHello, Johnzdennis. I see you've been here for almost seven years (thank you for your contributions), so you might already have read some of these introductory pages, but I'll include them anyway:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Simplified Manual of Style
- Discover what's going on in the Wikimedia community - subscribe to The Signpost, our illustrated monthly newspaper, and have it delivered directly to your talk page.
We know that
- this is a daunting amount to read,
- much of it will probably be hard to understand until you've edited Wikipedia for a while,
- we use lots of wikijargon like WP:RS (for ‘Reliable Sources’), and
- we use many terms with unexpectedly wikipedia-specific meanings, especially WP:Reliable Sources.
For this reason, we are expected to "treat newcomers with kindness and patience". (Just to illustrate the preceding points, this is a WP:guideline usually called WP:BITE.)
If you get stuck or want some help, please come to the Wikipedia Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
and your question on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer.
Or, you could also see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page.
We hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~.
Again, welcome! CWC 02:53, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
