Many thanks Johan for all your football work in general, particularly the Swedish coverage. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 04:09, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi there! Recently, I was speaking to a retired officer who had been working for the Awards Committee. I asked him how the committee dealt with the increasing number of Swedish forces that are taking part in various peace missions, and whether the issue of the För tapperhet i fält medal had come up. He said that he doubted that the issue had been dealt with for a long time, possibly back to the meeting in the early 1960s when nominations had been dismissed. Since then, the more or less unwritten criterion that the nation has to be at war has been overwhelming. He also pointed out that he thought that the most recent awards to volunteer fighters were embarrasing in view of Swedish neutrality and the fact that government did its best to avoid being involved in the World War. Anyway, you've written a very nice article. Our disagreement is nothing more than different views of silly and bureachratic intrepretation of ancient rules. Best, Odengatan 21:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
A question regarding supporter groups
I recently had an IP contributer ask me to start an article on the Red Patch Boys, a supporter group of Toronto Football Club. I know of a handful other articles on supporter groups and would like to accommodate this fellow's request. Could you remove the block on the page or explain to me why the group is non-notable.

- I think it is pretty clear after reading the AfD why the article was deleted (not notable). And I become very suspicious when you say that an IP has asked you to do this. You know that the article was deleted several times, but was recreated each time by new or IP users? That's why the page is WP:SALTed. I do not believe that the group has become notable since September this year, but if you really, really, really, really think so, add a request to WP:DRV, which is the right way to go in cases such as this. – Elisson • T • C • 12:14, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Untagged image
An image you uploaded, Image:Vastmanland-reg.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 00:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Gotland-reg.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Gotland-reg.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

I notice that you are the person responsible for recently speedy deleting the above page. That was a bit headstrong; I think the appropriate thing to do would have been to start an AfD discussion. Please explain why a website that has been featured in so many media is unremarkable and qualifies for WP:CSD A7. --90.240.34.177 21:25, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- The reason for which I deleted it was, as you have pointed out, WP:CSD A7, since there was nothing in the article that asserted its significance. How should I know in that the site has been mentioned in so many media, if there is nothing in the article telling me that? Anyway, since the page you linked to has a few pictures of what I percieve to be non-trivial articles as well as me not being infallible, I am willing to undelete the article if you are willing to actually use some of the material from those to reference the article properly so as to make clear that it asserts notability. Deal? – Elisson • T • C • 01:47, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- Uggghhhh... it's New Year's Day! Get someone else to do it. :D
- I'll copy some of the sources if I see it's gone back up, but you should probably add a template and mention it on the talk page or something at the very least. I'm only here because I came looking for info on the site at Wikipedia and was slightly miffed the article was gone. --90.240.34.177 03:57, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Comment at ProtectionBot RfA
In case you've missed it, I commented at your vote at the ProtectionBot RfA: ""a giant penis was sitting on the main page"? What, recently? Today? If you could give details, it would be instructive to work out whether ProtectionBot would have prevented this." - if you can remember details, it would be a great help. Thanks. Beckham image
Why did you change the Beckham image back in ITN? I just changed it from the one with the hat, since I think the image where he's wearing the England jersey is much more representative. JACOPLANE • 2007-01-12 13:56
- I changed it back as the picture shows Beckham in actual Real Madrid gear, which I believe to be more appropriate than showing him in the national team, which has little to do with the news item. I don't really care that much, so if you really want the other picture, feel free to change back. – Elisson • T • C • 14:00, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- I guess you've got a point with the gear, I just think the hat looks kind of stupid. What do you think about this image, or is that too unclear? Image:Beckhamcrop2.jpg JACOPLANE • 2007-01-12 14:09
- I do agree that he does look kind of stupid in the hat. :) Yeah, that image is a little too unclear, IMO. – Elisson • T • C • 14:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Naming conventions
Hello, Johan Elisson. You've brought up Wikipedia:Naming conventions, in the Rfc at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Player pages format. I checked that article (Naming conventions), currently it has no mention of Diacritics (English & Non-English article titles), however it's being discussed. GoodDay 22:25, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Did you say Project pages (such as Wikipedia: WikiProject Ice Hockey/Player pages format, don't have authority over it's relating bio articles? at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Player pages format. GoodDay 01:19, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, I only say project pages don't have authority over what title project related bio articles should have. – Elisson • T • C • 01:46, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm giving up on finding a compromise or solution to the Euro/French Canadian article titles/content debate. For that matter the whole Diacritics debate (going off & on since January 2006). If these numerous articles, are still being moved & moved back. If there's still diacritic arguements going on throughout the English Wikipedia. I leave it to others to (someday) end the 'Schism'. Good Luck, I hope a compromise will be reached someday. At least, I tried. GoodDay 01:57, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps an Arbitration Committee Ruling, is the only way to end the 'Diacritics' Schism. GoodDay 22:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Actually the Mediation Committee, would be the next step. GoodDay 17:12, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks
Just want to say thanks for the excellent arguments on keeping the NF-Board article. Superlinus 17:37, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Clarification
Your argument on 'Diacritics' at Bio article titles is Borje Salming (for example) should have diacritics, because his name (which is Swedish) has them? A persons native spelling (of his/her name) takes prominance? Not 'most common English spelling? Just want to make this clear. GoodDay 23:06, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- If so. Then Saddam Hussein article title should be in Arabic, Hirohito should be in Japanese, Nelson Mandela in African, Daniel Briere in Frencn-Canadian, Teemu Selanne in Finnish etc. Remember you said ALL bio articles (not just NHL players). GoodDay 00:03, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey Johan, thanks for your swift response to my request for assessment. I've since expanded the article somewhat to have more prose. In general I'm not the greatest writer and I tend to stick to stating the facts. I've contacted PSV and requested that they license a free image for use in the article. Ideally I'd like to take this article to GA-class in the future, De Visser is one of the most fascinating figures in the history of Football in my opinion, so any advice you might have on how the article could be improved would be much appreciated. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2007-01-17 23:16
Using English
Hello - I'm contacting you because of your involvement with using English instead of foreign terms in articles. A few are trying to "Anglicise" French terms in Wiki articles according to current guidelines but there is some resistance (eg/: "Région => Region"; "Département => Departement"). Your input would be appreciated here. Thankyou. --Bob 16:30, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Pa Dembo Tourray
Hello, I need some help to move the Pa Dembo Touray article to its correct name, Pa Dembo Tourray. Since Pa Dembo Tourray now is a redirect page, it needs to be erased before the article can be moved. Could you help me with this? Thanks in advance. Tooga 20:12, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, actually, there is no need to erase the target of the move if that page only has one line in the edit history, and that line is a redirect. So in this case, you could have made the move yourself, but I've gone ahead and made it for you. – Elisson • T • C • 20:29, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Ac_milan.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Ac_milan.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 02:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping
Hey ! Thanks for cleaning up the mess I did on wiki football project page :-) . However I need your opinion as well...Do you think I am wrong putting something like this in article for example about :Edmund Twórz . I mean the information about source . I was writing this note about this player using this book . I mean I didn't copy it - just I took some information...Bartekos 21:54, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, no prob! I am not sure what you mean though. If it is okay to use sources? Yes, that is actually what we should do all the time. If you referenced it properly? Good enough, at least. I hope that answers your question. – Elisson • T • C • 15:59, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Natural Burial related articles AfD nomination
Please review my comments regarding your nomination for deletion for Mike Salisbury. I have not had the chance to reply to all of the articles that have been tagged for deletion but will do so shortly. Theses articles are notable however they are WORKS IN PROCESS and require additional research and referencing. I hope you will support this initiative, although they still need work I believe they make a reasonable contribution to the encyclopaedia.Eulogy4Afriend 15:15, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Billy Campbell AfD
Please review my comments regarding your nomination for the deletion of Billy Campbell. I have referenced over 20 non-trivial, reliable published works, whose sources are independent of the subject itself.
Given that numerous independent authors, scholars, or journalists have decided to give attention to both the emerging trend of Natural Burial in North America as well as Mr. Campbell’s role as a pioneer in the natural burial movement I would suggest that the primary notability criterion to determine whether "the world" has judged this individual and topic to be notable has been met.
Please reconsider your vote Eulogy4Afriend 18:08, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Midanbury F.C.
Help! I've proposed the article Midanbury F.C. for deletion as its a re-creation of an article that was deleted previously, but I'm in a complete muddle about how to get it on to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football page. As you've done this before, can you help?
You may care to note that the originator of this article has created/re-created several more relating to non-notable football clubs, many of which were also deleted in November. If you look at the User's contributions page[1], you'll see what I mean.
Sorry to burden you with this, but although I'm relatively up to scratch on creating and editing articles, the finer points of deletion still confuse me. Thanks. Daemonic Kangaroo 20:10, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've added it to the list. :) Will take a closer look on the specifics later on when I've got more time. – Elisson • T • C • 22:56, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Assistance on Use:SndrAndrss
Hello. I realize you have had some issues with User:SndrAndrss in the past, but I am not able to convinve to quit adjusting the edits on this template {{Nordic skiing World Championships}}. He has mad edits on this template seven times in the last nine weeks and I have had to revert these edits six out of the lass seven times, including two in the last sixteen hours. What he has done is add venue names to the years of the events which I think clutters up the template. He also has excluded the list of medalists from the championships which I put in a mannaer similar to what you see on the Winter Olympics. I asked another user for a third opinion on the template (User:Wizardman) last Saturday in an effort to avoid an edit war. Wizardman sided with me, but SndrAndrss refused to listen. I am aware that he has been in mediation previously without success and I think it needs to go to mediation, but he is not communicating at all to anyone despite my pleas for him to knock it off. Can you please assist? Chris 16:34, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for doing this. Also, if you click on the templates he created for the World Championships in biathlon ({{Alpine World Skiing Championships}}) and alpine skiing ({{Biathlon World Championship}}), those are not up to the specifications for the Olympics. Apparently SndrAndrss has been attempting to hijack the Nordic skiing version and create it as his own even though the template is, IMO, to Olympic Games standards. It is something to think about. 1924 Olympic Games semi-final
Hi,
Trying to find out where you found out that Ivanicsics was the referee for the above game between Sweden and Switzerland. It would appear that rsssf.com list the referee for that match as being Johannes Mutters of the Netherlands. I don't expect that they are necessarily going to be correct in all cases and if you can verify what you have written I would be very interested in hearing from you.

- I'm not fluent in English and I'm aware that most of the stuff I write needs to have a copyedit to be good prose, so I really appreciate what you did! That one error made its way into the article is no problem as I usually re-read the text after someone has copyedited it to check that nothing has been factually changed. Thanks again! – Elisson • T • C • 15:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Featured lists
Hi! I've seen that you have managed to get two lists featured. Since you have experience with the nomination procedure, could you take a look at List of drafted Frölunda HC players and see if there is anything that is needed to be done and if it might stand a chance of getting featured? I didn't feel like putting it up for peer review but wanted someone to take a look at it before I'd tried to nominate it. Thanks! Krm500 13:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'll take a look at it tonight. – Elisson • T • C • 15:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- What do you think about it? --Krm500 18:37, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Do I have a short memory or what... It looks good, but I'd move the name column to the left, followed by nationality and position. I guess you will meet some opposition in the form of people saying that there are quite a few redlinks in the list, though. Reduce them to 3 or 4 or something and you'll be fine. – Elisson • T • C • 19:04, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Not long ago that list was as red as it is blue today. I could easily create stubs for all the red links but none of those players are currently playing at pro level. Some never have. As you can see most of the red linked players are drafted recently so their articles will probably be created when they are a little older. Krm500 21:23, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
