Your submission at Articles for creation: 2023 Bridgeport, Connecticut, mayoral election (September 21)
edit- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:2023 Bridgeport, Connecticut, mayoral election and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Hello,
- Sorry for making the page a few days after making the draft. I figured that the article was very timely, and seeing that it could take up to 6 months for articles to be reviewed, I moved it to article space. I'll keep that in mind for the future, I did not mean to annoy you guys or bypass the review.
- Thanks,
- - RockinJack c 15:15, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
Hello, RockinJack18!
Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! editHi Jack! Apologies, I've removed the AFUT album cover from your userpage because of the non free content policy. Love the album and the band too and nice edits! Justiyaya 01:38, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Copy-pasting from draftspace
editHi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:2023 Bridgeport, Connecticut, mayoral election a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2023 Bridgeport, Connecticut, mayoral election. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you.
(While it seems you were the person who worked on both articles, I've requested a history merge in order to preserve the full edit history. Even in draftspace, you are able to move the article yourself to mainspace, which is the preferred way to go about this.) Utopes (talk / cont) 04:41, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Sorry about that, this was my first time creating a draft article and I didn't know that I could move it directly from the draft space to an actual article page. I'll keep that in mind for any future drafts I create. - RockinJack c 04:46, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Ope, I see just above this that User:Robert McClenon had already left this note. While it might be old-ish news now, I was just getting around to this page in the queue.
I mainly wanted to let you know about the histmerge!Thank you for being receptive to his feedback earlier. Utopes (talk / cont) 04:49, 22 September 2023 (UTC)- Actually never mind, I've struck the histmerge bit above. As it turns out, the timing of these two were wonky and existed simultaneously for a time, so the histmerge is not possible. As long as you're aware for the future, that's all I think from me! Cheers, Utopes (talk / cont) 04:52, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- On history merging, the situation where a draft is copied to mainspace and later receives more edits and then a merge is requested is fairly common. Normally I leave those for other admins rather than declining them myself, but in this case the history to merge is trivial. And nobody other than me has monitored that queue in weeks. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:55, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your many sensible changes and improvements. Your effort is very welcome and I look forward to any assistance you may bring to the new UConn team season articles. If I can ever be of assistance, please ask. BusterD (talk) 13:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC) |
Caroline Ducharme
editVery nice start-class article. Lots of room for expansion. Sure would like to see it on the mainpage for WP:DYK. Have you done that yet? I could help. BusterD (talk) 13:10, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the Barnstar and the compliment! I am relatively new to editing Wikipedia, and I genuinely appreciate it. I would love any help I could get with improving the article and getting it on the mainpage. Your commitment to improving articles about the UConn women's team is something that inspires me and I'm happy to help in any way needed. Thanks again! - RockinJack18 14:48, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- She's a junior, so that means we have two full years of Husky love we can find from Storrs media. We should find some local Milton stuff, possibly including her brother if possible. If we feel we've met the burden for notability we may utilize connected sources like her official UConn biography for detailing. ALWAYS remember we're dealing with an actual person, not just a set of statistics. Let's be careful not to add anything contentious without citation supporting, ok? BusterD (talk) 19:25, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- Alright, where do you think the article can be most improved? I've kept NPOV in mind and wrote a few sentences about how her career has been impacted by injury and increased workloads, but I've made sure to source all of that.
- On another note, I'm thinking of making an article for Aubrey Griffin, which I saw you made a redirect page for today. Is it worth creating a page for her? She's likely to be a starter this year.
- Thanks again! - RockinJack18 00:07, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not in the giving advice business. I do think it would be wise to get this page going at DYK (since we have a sort of ticking clock on new pages before application to DYK) before we create a new page. Creating a draft article at Draft:Aubrey Griffin would not be out of line at some point. Let's never rush. Imagine if Aubrey or Caroline don't succeed in the WNBA or they choose for some reason not to pursue pro ball. Imagine somebody writing an article about YOU under such circumstances. We want to make sure we don't harm the subject. BusterD (talk) 22:11, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- Of course that is true. My rule of thumb is if the player is more significant within UConn Athletics than Samson Johnson, they warrant an article. Aubrey Griffin had a huge role on the team last year and will have a big one this year, so I'll probably create a draft article in the near future, and when I do that, I'll send it to you if you'd like to look it over. - RockinJack18 04:36, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
