Damage Totals

edit

Just so you know - The damage totals for certain systems that impacted china were updated by me on monday after the chinese member report to the wmo was released. this is where the ip has got the damage totals from.Jason Rees (talk) 02:57, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Oh ok. I thought it was unofficial, but I didn't read too much, sorry then. ..ItsPaide.. 16:10, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Im not going to call the CMA damage totals to the WMO official nor unofficial, but i will instead say that they are a sourced damage total rather than what was there before. If we find better totals when we research the systems then we may use that presuming it is sourced.Jason Rees (talk) 16:39, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
How about EM-DAT? Select Eastern Asia as region, Period as 2010-2013, and the disaster group as Natural. This is for E Asia, China only. If you dont have time:

China:

Cyclone Damage (USD) Killed
Usagi X 20
Jebi 20,000,000 X
Utor 2,120,000,000 88
Rumbia 177,000,000 7
Soulik 410,000,000 9

Now for the Philippines:

Cyclone Damage (USD) Killed
Shanshan X 6 [citation needed]
Usagi X 5
Utor 33,000,000 14[citation needed]
Rumbia 1,000,000 7
Trami X 31

Remember, the damage is in USD.

What do you think? ..ItsPaide.. 16:57, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

For Shanshan, the NDRRMC said in their final situation report that there was 4 dead 2 missing, so we need to find a source that says the two missing were subsequently declared dead.Jason Rees (talk) 17:20, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
How about the others? Especially Trami with 31 dead, but the page lists it as 2. How about the indirect from the Philippines? (18) Maybe they're only counting damage and deaths for the country itself. Should we stick with AON Benfield? ..ItsPaide.. 17:37, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Have a bit of patience :) - Im just trying to go through the NDRRMC reports for the Philippines and check the totals and am up to Fabian. If you want to make my life slightly easier you could get me the PAGASA names for the systems above.Jason Rees (talk) 17:57, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Rumbias 7 deaths check out per the NDRRMC, but the damage does not yet.Jason Rees (talk) 18:09, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well then, you're in luck :)
I agree. ..ItsPaide.. 18:54, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks for that ill start working to add it to the season effects section, can you just double check the Chinese totals on Page 16 in case i have made a mistake in the conversions.Jason Rees (talk) 21:27, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
You converted it wrong except for some, you didn't multiply 100. Correct totals:
  • Bebinca - 1,644,280 US Dollars
  • Rumbia - 192,380,760 US Dollars
  • Soulik - 557,410,920 US Dollars
  • Cimaron - 325,567,440 US Dollars
  • Jebi - 8,056,972 US Dollars
  • Utor - 3,535,202,000 US Dollars
  • Trami - 563,988,040 US Dollars
  • Kongrey - 21,375,640 US Dollars
  • Usagi - 4,340,899,200 US Dollars
  • Wutip - 3,288,560 US Dollars
  • Fitow - 10,381,983,920 US Dollars
  • Nari - 82,214,000 US Dollars
Correct me if I'm wrong but you only took tht total But didn't multiply by 100 except for usagi, wutip, and maybe fitow ..ItsPaide.. 02:29, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
You are probably correct - if you want to and trust these amounts enough - you canstart adding them in to User:Jason_Rees/scratchpad1.Jason Rees (talk) 04:50, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Will do, but while I work on that you should update the totals for the ones listed above. ..ItsPaide.. 16:05, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I changed the ones with articles (Rumbia, Soulik, Cimaron, Utor, Trami, Nari) ..ItsPaide.. 18:20, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ok what im going to do right now is get a rough spreadsheet for the damages deaths and missing per country sorted with sources noted. I will subsequently upload it to google docs later.Jason Rees (talk) 18:29, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Go ahead! Link me when ready ..ItsPaide.. 18:31, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I dislike these IPs. Always reverting revision when the damage total is correct. Somebody convince them that the damage total is correct... ..ItsPaide.. 22:10, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Dont do anymore edits changing death tolls or damages until the spreadsheet is ready, once it is done we can start pointing the IPs in the right direction.Jason Rees (talk) 22:13, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm only concerned about Trami. I'm leaving it at 27 with a source for now until it's ready. ..ItsPaide.. 22:18, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
This is nowhere near finished but here is draft 1 of the Spreadsheet.Jason Rees (talk) 03:19, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

A friend request

Hi. I'm codename "SkyFlubbler". I saw how you make some cool videos about star size comparison. As you have said, most of them are outdated, making them extremely critical for bad comments. I understand, making videos like that was really sacrificing.

As far you are concerned, I'm the creator of articles of UY Scuti, Westerlund 1-26 and AH Scorpii. I may be the person in my country who knows most about these stars. So I may help you in creating your next videos. I know a lot when it comes to stars whose sizes reach the tips of the scales. You can talk to me if you need help. In the meantime, here are suggestions:

  • Get the median radius— Do not go to the list alone, click the articles themselves and you will get the size ranges. Add the highest range and the lowest range first, then divide the sum by 2. There you will get the median radius.
  • Quote size errors– Include also figures which tell that these stars' sizes is under investigation. Note to the videos also that these stars are variable, that is, their sizes change with time.
  • Put in stars with close sizes simultaneously— For stars with size differences of 100 solar radii or less, show them simultaneously in the video. This makes people found out that these stars have the same ranks. Actually you must note that NML Cygni and UY Scuti are both rank 1 because their sizes have only a difference of ~58 solar radii.

I want you to be a friend actually. I put the data and you show it. Hope you accept! If you have any questions, ask me in my talk. SkyFlubbler (talk) 08:53, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
