Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to The Big C (TV series). Thank you. Ckatzchatspy 22:19, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Two issues here: one, the content you're adding is unverified, which means it cannot stay even if correct; two, even if it is verified, anything that is challenged by another editor must be removed and not re-added unless there is consensus on the talk page of the article (though people may not object as much as they have so far if they could see the claims being verified). Bottom line, you should not add it back again. Soap 11:11, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also, not everyone who disagrees with you is your enemy, or is "trying to hide the facts" about someone. In most cases we're just holding fast to Wikipedia's core policies, which is why Wikipedia still exists. Soap 11:21, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at The Big C (TV series). Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Ckatzchatspy 06:19, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.

The next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory or otherwise controversial content into an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at The Big C (TV series), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 55 hours for repeated issues involving Wikipedia's biography of living persons policy, as seen at The Big C (TV series). Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions if you can agree to collaborate with your fellow editors. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Please use this time to consider what other editors have tried to tell you. If you are certain this material is valid, it should be easy to find reliable sources to verify it. Otherwise, Wikipedia's policies and guidelines prohibit its inclusion. Ckatzchatspy 08:31, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Ckatz has engaged in censorship. I edited my post to remove the name of the show's star and still Ckatz wishes to block and censor me. I do not feel I deserve to be blocked when I have made an edit that is 100% true. I stated only facts and Ckatz has taken this to a personal level. I stated the show's star is a cigarette smoker in real life and that she endured criticism for playing the role of a cancer victim. I stated that cigarette smoking is one of the top three causes of preventable death in the world and I believe because Ckatz is most likely a cigarette smoker they have taken offense to my stating this smoking fact despite such facts being being true and endorsed by The American Cancer Society and the Heart Association. At first I did have the show's star name Laura Linney mentioned in my post, but after repeated interference by Ckatz I removed all mention of actress Laura Linney and made my post generic only referring to her as "The show's star" and this was still unacceptable to Ckatz who claimed it was "libelous and defamatory. Stating that the show's star is a cigarette smoker in real life and that her portraying a cancer victim is setting a bad example for fans especially young fans is NOT libelous or defamatory. Nothing I wrote is false and Ckatz needs to have their block overturned and I ask that Ckatx be removed from editing my post on the TV show THE BIG C. I thank you for taking the time to read this.

Decline reason:

I see no reliable third party source that states she's a smoker. I see no reliable third party source that discusses any criticism of the show, or its stars. You may have WP:TRUTH but around here we go by verifiability and consensus. Your actions were significant enough to be repeated violations of the biography of living persons policy, and you're blocked for that. Claims of censorship when we require sourcing is disingenuous. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for contravening Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy, as you did at The Big C (TV series). Note that your first and only edits upon your return from a previous block involved restoring the same BLP material, again without a suitable reference. Notwithstanding the fact that you chose to use an opinion column as a reference, the content of that opinion did not support the severity of the claims you made in your text. Request reason:

I added a reference to back up my claims. I claimed Laura Linney is a cigarette smoker which is substantiated in this reference. I stated there is is criticism of Linney playing this role by cancer groups and that too has been proven to be correct in the reference I used "The Big C has been critically acclaimed in America but has not been without controversy, Laura Linney is a smoker in real life and some cancer support groups have questioned the wisdom of a smoker portraying a cancer victim considering what we know about the correlation between cancer and smoking. I have toned this edit down and kept it within the guidelines of Wiki and still the Ckatz does not permit me to make this edit. Nothing I say was not confirmed in the reference I added. Now that I found a legitimate reference Ckatz is going to use the excuse they don't like my reference. There is absolutlely no winning this edit. If I added a statement from Laura Linney herself that she was a smoker and that the show did endure early criticism Ckatz will say I probably drugged Linney into making the statement. Let's be fair people. At first I had no reference to back up my claim. Now I found a legitimate reference and Ckatz claims the reference is not good. {1} http://nz.entertainment.yahoo.com/tv/opinions/show/2398463/the-big-c-premiere/

Decline reason:

Opinion pieces are not reliable sources. See WP:RS#Statements of opinion. Your edit therefore violated WP:BLP.  Sandstein  12:47, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Islandersb, let's be realistic here. You return from a block for BLP issues, and immediately commit the same error on the same page, without any discussion. You've also made a series of claims that do not accurately reflect the opinion piece you've linked to:
  • "Almost immediately after THE BIG C made it's debut, the shows star received scathing criticism"
  • "Laura Linney's handlers attempted to down play this"
  • "Anti-smoking advocates pointed out...anyone playing the role of a cancer victim who smokes cigarettes is sending the wrong message to viewers especially young viewers"
The opinion piece states only the following:

"The Big C has been critically acclaimed in America but has not been without controversy, Laura Linney is a smoker in real life and some cancer support groups have questioned the wisdom of a smoker portraying a cancer victim considering what we know about the correlation between cancer and smoking."

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 month for contravening Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy, as you did at The Big C (TV series). Once again, your only edits upon your return from a previous block involved restoring controversial BLP material, again using an opinion column as a reference. Your recent edits appear solely devoted to finding a way to add criticism of an individual, without appropriate sources and despite repeated warnings. Furthermore, you have responded to these warnings not by adjusting your behaviour, but instead by attempting to blame others. Note that if you continue with this pattern, you will in all likelihood face an extended loss of all editing privileges. Ckatzchatspy 03:52, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
