Nebiryraw I

Please don't remove valid categories. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:46, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Vegaswikian: the category "Dead in 1601 BC" has nothing to do here, no egyptologist will tell you Nebiryraw I died exactly in 1601 BC. This date was proposed by Ryholt but it is heavily debated and even Ryholt advises caution. The category "Year of Birth Unknown" is valid but a bit stupid, if you are serious about it include all pharaohs for a start. Iry-Hor (talk) 21:08, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
If the article gives a date that makes Category:1601 BC deaths valid, then it is a valid category for that article. Unknown birth year is a valid category and while stupid it is still valid. You can take it to WP:CFD if you think it should be deleted. Note that if the year of death is truly not known, you should use Category:Year of death unknown. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:49, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
Ok then I will change the category to Category:Year of death unknown, because it would not be serious to maintain 1601 BC as the exact year of death. To further make this celar I will add other dates for Nebiryraw I proposed by other scholars. Iry-Hor (talk) 06:13, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Dwarfism in Ancient Egypt

Hi. Have you ever read this one? I wanna write an english version. Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 16:37, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

lol, I knew dwarves were special to Ancient Egyptian. Unfortunately I don't speak German well enough to read the entire article. Note if you want to translate it, the title may be better as "Dwarves in Ancient Egypt". Iry-Hor (talk) 19:19, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
I have started here. Your first impression? regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 16:36, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Looks good! It needs only a few English twicks here and there so let me know when you create the article so I can correct a few minor English mistakes. Iry-Hor (talk) 16:39, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, as soon as the article is done I will inform you. I think the best label for that article would be "Dwarfs and pygmies in Ancient Egypt". Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 16:41, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Yes that's a good title. Iry-Hor (talk) 16:49, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Hey. I'm as good as through. ;) Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 18:13, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Nephiliskos Put it up on wikipedia, then I will be able to go through it for the English. Nice article. Iry-Hor (talk) 06:54, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Iry-Hor Here it is: Dwarfs and pygmies in Ancient Egypt. :-) but two things bother me: The hieroglyphs, especially the mini-graphic with the dwarf, are all kicked to the left edge of the box. In German version it works perfectly... The second thing is: Could you help me to put the article on "Did you know?"...? Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 10:55, 1 September 2014 (UTC) PS: a nice catch phrase could be: ...that Dwarfs and pygmies in Ancient Egypt were treated with greatest respect?

Ok so first thing I don't know how to put the hieroglyphs in the middle yet I need to figure this out. I will do a bit of English corrections here and there and then will put the thing up on DYK. Iry-Hor (talk) 18:17, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Nephiliskos I did the English corrections and the hieroglyphs are now centered in the box. We need a better lead which quickly summarizes the various sections of the article. Then we can put the article up on DYK. While reading the article I thought of the following hook that will definitely attract a number of people: ... that Dwarfs aided by apes were employed as zookeepers in Ancient Egypt?. This is so crazy it will be a hit. Iry-Hor (talk) 20:26, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Iry-Hor: Sounds endeed cool, but better write then: ...that Dwarfs aided by guenons were employed as royal zookeepers in Ancient Egypt?, because "apes" is too unspecific and "royal zookeeper" sounds even more bitchin'. ;-) And, yes, it IS crazy - but true! Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 20:32, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes I agree with the royal stuff and "guenon" might be a better term than "ape" but I fear that most people do not know what a guenon is. It is not a very common term to talk about monkeys and apes. Iry-Hor (talk) 20:33, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Isn't it allowed in en.Wiki to use links within the teaser? If so, you can simply link "guenon", "zookeeper" and "Ancient Egypt". I rather insist on "guenon" because it was the only race of apes held as pets and the article specifies on guenons... Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 20:55, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes alright no problem I will upload ...that Dwarfs aided by guenons were employed as royal zookeepers in Ancient Egypt?, we need to extend the lead a bit though. Iry-Hor (talk) 05:42, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

How about this: ...that Dwarfs in Ancient Egypt were assisted by guenons and worked as royal zookeepers and even as conductors?... Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 06:20, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Might be too long, also the article does not really say they were conductors rather they give the tempo to the musicians. It is quite different. Iry-Hor (talk) 06:57, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

How about: ...that Dwarfs in Ancient Egypt were assisted by guenons and worked as royal zookeepers and juwelers?... Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 07:04, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Nephiliskos alright I just wrote the lead and put up the article on DYK, see here, bottom of the list just before the 2 September entries. Be on the look out for the review, which should be quick an pose no problem, but sometimes the reviewers ask for a few stuff. I think the article could also be put up as GA candidate, but this is your choice. Iry-Hor (talk) 07:07, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Iry-Hor Thx. About an GA-Nomination: My German friends admonished me to look for the references, for an nomination they are too unspecific and include too much pages. I had to work over them. And Udimu told me, that there are lots of interesting things about dwarfs concerning certain deity cults. Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 08:52, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

To the front, please!^^

So cool: Dwarfs and pygmies in Ancient Egypt is at the front page. ;o) Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 14:25, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes I have seen this!! Watch out for the number of visits to the page, if your hook got more than 5000 you will be in the DYK hall of fame see here (wait for at least 24h for the visit statistics to be complete) Iry-Hor (talk) 14:51, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
Awesome!!! Meanwhile the german version is close to it's first nomination. Just take a look how much stuff awaits me when expanding the english one! Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 17:04, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
Nephiliskos I don't understand what you mean. Do you intend to GA nominate the article after all? Iry-Hor (talk) 06:51, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Iry-Hor Well, why not? The German version is already "worth to read". All the stuff could translated and put into our english version, right? Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 10:38, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes yes I think the article has a good chance to be GA! Is there really much more in the German version than in the English one? Iry-Hor (talk) 11:05, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Just read: [1] (or, at least, take a look). :o) Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 12:43, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

A cartouche in Lepsius

Hi. I was leafing through Lepsius' Denkmaeler searching for something about Neferhotep I; I've found few things here (chose "Band IV" then search page 151), probably nothing of these could be useful in Neferhotep's article, but in figure K I've found Sekhemre-wadjkhaw Sobekemsaf cartouche on the right, I think. But I definitely can't read the cartouche in the top of the picture. Could you help me? --Khruner (talk) 10:00, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Khruner thank you very much for these indications. I have seen these plates referenced in Ryholt's book and initially chose to put alternative, more recent, references for the rock inscriptions of Sehel and Konosso, namely de Morgan "Catalogue des monuments" dated to 1894. In view of the fact that the more references the better and that de Morgan's reference isn't that recent I will add Lepsius' book. Again thank you for pointing this out! If you do not mind, I will also upload the plates of Lepsius concerning Neferhotep on commons given the quality of the drawing and the fact that Neferhotep's article could use an additional image. Concerning Sobekemsaf, I can confirm that plates L and K are listed in Ryholt's book as belonging to Sobekemsaf II, which is remarkable given the scarcity of pictures we have of him. I suppose you might want to upload these on commons, otherwise let me know and I will do it. For the cartouche on the top of plate K, it is simply reading Sekhemrewadjkhau Sobekemsaf. Indeed, the first sign is the sun disk, the second is Sekhem, the third is Wadj, the fourth is Sobek on top of the Saf sign the fifth (looks like a wiggle) is in fact the owl for M and the last is Khau (with the 3 bars for the plural). The way the M owl is drawn looks like the hieratic for M so that gave the reading away. 19:54, 27 September 2014 (UTC) Iry-Hor (talk)

Homosexuality in ancient Egypt

Hi. I have re-edited this article, using good literature. May I ask for your opinion and to keep an eye on it? Such an precarious theme... Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 22:47, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Ok I will take a close look, also for the English. Btw, I believe that the article on dwarfs should be in the DYK hall of fame by the end of the month. Better watch out for this! Iry-Hor (talk) 20:24, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Wow, that would be awsome! However, I have no idea how that works and what it would mean for the article. Furtherly, I still couldn't manage to expand it... Gnahh... Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 23:05, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Some kings in Lepsius

Hi. I'm still looking for something fine in the Denkmaeler, and it looks like I need again your help... here the link, choose Band VIII and search for page 257, figure a.
You should see a 22nd Dynasty relief (I know it's not your favourite period, though...). In my opinion, the king depicted twice with Amun-Ra is Hedjkheperre-setepenre Takelot-saaset-meramun (that should be Takelot II), in the right scene is followed by his son, the High Priest of Amun Osorkon (future Osorkon III), while on the left I suspect that he repeated the scene with his father instead, the HPA Nimlot, himself son of king Osorkon-sabast-meramun (Osorkon II for friends).
If you can confirm my readings, I'm going to crop the relief multiple times in order to illustrate the Wikipedia articles of all the trio... --Khruner (talk) 19:06, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Khruner, sorry for the delay. Yes I read the same thing, going from left to right, the first cartouche is definitely "Takelot Siese Meryamun" second is "Osorkon Sibastet Meryamun", third cartouche I have no clue, fourth is "Takelot Siese Meryamun" again, 5th (top) Hedjkheperre Setepenre and below is probably the same cartouche as the first, last two cartouches seem to belong to Takelot again. Iry-Hor (talk) 19:45, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
The third cartouche should be a [Karo]mama, likely Takelot II's mother and Nimlot's wife. Thanks for the confirmation, this relief is a nice source of pics for many poorly illustrated articles, I'll crop it just now! --Khruner (talk) 20:07, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I can see the mama part indeed but did not know that [Karo]mama even existed, as you know I am not really into post 1000 BC Egypt... But these nice pictures (and many others you have uploaded of kings of the TIP and Late Periods) makes me want to read the wiki articles. Iry-Hor (talk) 20:13, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Sure. Their articles are meant to be read :) Even though chaotic and with all the disagreements, this period is somewhat fascinating. Khruner (talk) 20:20, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Iry-Hor Wha...!? The blue-purple boxes at the home page and at the discussion page...? :D --Nephiliskos (talk) 10:19, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

But they are not on the side! I see them at the center of the page. Iry-Hor (talk) 11:27, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Where they belong to. ;o) With "both sides" (initially "both sites") I simply meant the home page and the discussion page as such. ;) Srry, if I confused you. --Nephiliskos (talk) 15:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, ok. The boxes are nice and funny! And colorful as I said earlier. Iry-Hor (talk) 17:09, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Question

Hi. Have you ever heard about an device called "the Herodotus machine"? Some users persistently try to introduce this (fictitious?) "Herodotus machine" into the article of Khufu... Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 17:27, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Nephi, no I have never heard about it. As always, I would think that this is fringe stuff, so unless it is very well referenced, I would think that any reference to this machine should be removed. Iry-Hor (talk) 08:31, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Just as I and Khruner thought. Herodotus merely mentions some sort of building construct made of timber wood. And he himself never ever invented anything like devices or machines. Thus... Thy for you quick response anyway. ;o) Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 10:51, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Samont and Ankhu

Hi Iry-Hor, after a bit of FIP I was wandering through the SIP and suddendly remembered an issue concerning two viziers, Samont/Zamonth and Ankhu, which some sources claims they likely were father and son. The problem is, Samonth was in charge under Amenemhat III while Ankhu was under Khendjer and Khaankhre, and I find that difficult to explain talking about human beings. Did you have some clarifying sources about those two viziers? --Khruner (talk) 22:13, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Hello Khruner, the only source I have talking about these guys is Rice's Who is who in Ancient Egypt. Rice states that Ankhu was vizier from Khendjer until Sobekhotep IV so serving under Khendjer, Imyremeshaw, Sehetepkare Intef, Seth Merirbre, Sobekhotep III, Neferhotep I and Sobekhotep IV (this is somewhat strange given how Sobekhotep III, Neferhotep I and Sobekhotep IV distanciated themselves from their predecessors). Note that Khaankhre reigned 4 to 8 kings before Khendjer depending on the scholar. This means that Ankhu must have started his office c. 1760 (if we follow Ryholt on the datation), at which point he must have been say (at least) 20-30 years hold. Since he died during Sobekhotep IV's reign c. 1725 one can safely say that he could not have been born much earlier than 1790 - 1800 which would made him nearly 70-80 years old at death. Thus I would estimate his life to be something like c. 1795 - c. 1725 and given that Amenenemhat III died c. 1810 BC, a young vizier of him could possibly have had a son c. 1795 BC (again such a vizier would have been born at least c. 1840-1830 BC and would thus have fathered Ankhu at 35-45 years old). Rice does not have Zamonth, but has a Sa-Mont who lived c. 1950 BC and was apparently a prison governor. Finally, about Ankhu, Rice also says: Ankhu appears to have had an extensive family, and a number of his descendants occupied important positions in the state; one such was Iymeru, also Vizier to King Sobekhotep IV. Iry-Hor (talk) 08:47, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
It makes sense but I'm not fully convinced, since Samont seems to have been active under Years 6-9 of Amenemhat III in some minor offices according to Grajetzki (so, c. 1855-50 BCE I guess) and it seems reasonable to assume that he was at least 20 in this date so he may have been born in c. 1875-70. In this case, he should have been a centenary man when fathered Ankhu. Not impossible but very unlikely, furthermore he surely had other sons earlier, and logically they should have managed to become viziers well before Ankhu, or their sons if they predeceased their father... Anyway, maybe is better leave things as the are until someone discovers something more about that. Khruner (talk) 14:10, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
If Samont was active early in the reign of Amenemhat III then yes I don't see how it would be possible for him to have fathered Ankhu. The real question is when was he active? If he started his career at the end of the reign of Amenemhat III then it could work out (as I explained above) but otherwise I am like you and won't buy it. Even today with all the modern medicine I don't know any centenarian fathering a child so I guess at the time it would not only have been exceptional to live that long but even more to then father a child. I feel like there may be several people of the same name that are confused here. Iry-Hor (talk) 14:21, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Looking in again, I have just noticed a phrase that made me wonder: "the several attestations of Neferhotep found north of Egypt". Should "found north" be "found in the north...", i.e. within Egypt rather than to the north of it (which would be the Mediterranean, I suppose)? Tim riley talk 23:59, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for the intrusion, the aforementioned attestations came from Palestine and Phoenicia, thus "found in the north" (i.e. within Egypt) is surely incorrect. "Found northeast" maybe would be more explicative? -- Khruner (talk) 10:51, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes I meant beyond the northern border of Egypt proper. I will rephrase the sentence to clarify it. I also need to find the addresses for the references. Iry-Hor (talk) 11:06, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Georges Goyon

Hi, I was looking for infos about Georges Goyon and found that he was born in 1905 but his death date is unknown (assuming that he is passed away indeed, but if not he should be nearly 110 now). Since you and he are compatriots, do you know if there is a French way to discover something like his obituary? Khruner (talk) 20:05, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

I could not find anything on his (probable) death date. There is a 2014 necrology for a Georges Goyon in a country village in France but I belive this is more likely to be someelse with the same name. The latest articles/1st edition books by the Egyptologist Goyon date to the mid 80s although there have been new editions as late as 2004. Goyon seems to have a son Jean-Claude who is an egyptologist as well. Incredibly all the sources I have found on Goyon speak of him in the present, but that would make him 110 now, i.e. one of the very few oldest men on earth. I would estimate that he died at the end of the 80s based on his activity seemingly stoping at the time, but could not find any solid confirmation. Iry-Hor (talk) 12:56, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, you found more than me anyway. I have the original 1987 book La Découverte des trésors de Tanis and in the back cover does not appear any clue that he could have been passed away until that year indeed. The only thing I can do is find a recent edition of any of his books in some library and look in the back cover for something more... Khruner (talk) 16:47, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Khruner Victory! The good lad died in 1996 and his son Jean-Claude was born in 1937 and is still alive. See here (look for "Goyon" on the page) on the website of the Institut français d’archéologie orientale (IFAO). Iry-Hor (talk) 18:07, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I see you are using the Sfn template, but you need to add ref=harv to the bibliography items (or in some cases a variation on this) for it to work. See Template:Sfn. For a tool that shows up sfn errors see User:Ucucha/HarvErrors. Dudley Miles (talk) 21:06, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Dudley Miles thanks a thousand times for this and for the Sahure review thanks to which I am now correctly referencing my articles. I believe the sfn template works correclty in Shepseskare now! Iry-Hor (talk) 21:25, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Shepseskare

The article Shepseskare you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Shepseskare for things which need to be addressed. About GA

Hello, you seem very busy lately in raising to GA and even FA some pharaohs, so I was wondering if you can briefly explain me how to propose a pharaoh to GA status; maybe sooner of later I will try that... --Khruner (talk) 16:33, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Sure it's easy, the steps to propose an article for GA are described here. You will have to copy and paste a standard tempalte at the top of the talk page, selecting a subtopic while doing so. Typically the subtopic will be "Royalty, nobility and heraldry" (e.g. for a pharaoh) or "Art and architecture" (for pyramids). Your article will then automatically appear on the list of nominated articles until someone picks it up for review (this can take months, unless you can find someone), The reviewer will then make a more or less thorough review and if you address all his points, the article should pass to GA. One last piece of advise, which I learned recently: using the sfn template for references looks extremely good (see Shepseskare). Also mandatory: the page number should appear in all book references (i.e. the precise page(s) where the info referred to is mentioned). In the end, it is fun! Good luck! Iry-Hor (talk) 17:17, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Unas, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Late Period. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

News around king Khaba

Unas TFA

Thank you for nominating Unas at TFA. It just happens that I was looking for an an article like this, to schedule early in July. I am putting it in the slot for 5 July. Brianboulton (talk) 20:44, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Brianboulton Great thanks, I am glad you found the article fitting for such a noble task! By the way what do you mean you were looking for an article "like this"? Do you mean Ancient History in general, Egyptology in particular, or anything else more specific? I am just curious. Iry-Hor (talk) 21:44, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
Ancient history in general. There's not a great deal that's been featured – your article Shepseskare, some Dark Ages English kings... that's about it. So your initiative was timely. Brianboulton (talk) 22:11, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

I finished the summary at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 5, 2015; was there anything I left out you'd like to see put back in? - Dank (push to talk) 20:06, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

DankThat is a very good summary of the subject, thanks! The only thing that I can think of missing is the fact that the cult of Ra was wanning at the time, while that of Osiris was on the rise. But then, I guess these trends are only of interest to those studying the evolution of Ancient Egyptian religion. Iry-Hor (talk) 14:56, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Translating French sources

We talked in December about how I might send you "a few paragraphs" of French to render into English for the Isis article. By typing up French articles and pasting them into Google Translate, I got the general sense of what they said. Then I narrowed the text down to the passages that I may need to cite for the article, for which I need a better translation than machines can provide. Unfortunately, it turned out to be more like seven pages from several articles. Would you be willing to translate that much? My article writing is moving so slowly that I won't need the translations for at least the next three months, so you wouldn't be under heavy time pressure.

If you agree, I'll send the text in an e-mail. A. Parrot (talk) 23:30, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Of course @A. Parrot: I would be happy to help you! I will try to be as fast as possible so that the text is ready whenever you need it. Iry-Hor (talk) 08:29, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I've sent the e-mail. A. Parrot (talk) 16:56, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Horus name and Nebty name

Hi. I just created these two articles and now I found several, pretty odd articles very similar in content, but... how to push it... I wish these to be deleted. Their quality is horrible, their refences very fragmentary and big parts of their content is redundant or concentrated too much on one subject. I could edit them, no problem. But I fear that would shorten the "problem articles" extremely! Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 23:27, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Tim riley No worries at all!! You already did a lot for this article and many other pharaoh articles! Consider this: before meeting you, it typically took 4-6 months between nominating a pharaoh article for GA and the start of its review, this was a huge obstacle for article improvement on top of being a drag on my editing motivation. Thus I believe I owe you all the latest GA and FA pharaoh articles and everything you do in addition to that is quite beyond my wildest expectations!

Big project

Hi. Wanna take a look at this? It's a basic gantry for a new version of the article to the deity Seth. However, when finished and proof read by you and others, I'd like to move the article to "Seth (Egyptian Mythology)", because 90% of Egyptologists write "Seth". Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 10:08, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Nephiliskos Wow that looks ambitious! Do you have all the sources to fill up so much information on Seth? You should talk to A Parrot about this since he is the expert on Egyptian religion around here, maybe he can also help for your monster project! Iry-Hor (talk) 12:43, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

It's: Herman te Velde: Seth, God of Confusion. A study of his role in Egyptian mythology and religion - Reprint with some corrections (= Probleme der Ägyptologie, Vol. 6). Brill, Leiden 1977, ISBN 90-04-05402-2. Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 13:14, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Khruner Nope! Ask Nephiliskos you may have more luck with him. Iry-Hor (talk) 14:06, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Scorpion kings

Hi. I'd like to move the article of king Scorpion II. The reason is simple: none of my precious literatures use the terms "scorpion king", "king scorpion" and so on. They unisono use "Scorpion I" and Scorpion II". Btw: the article about Scorpion I is horribly written and even more horribly referenced. I think I should take care of that. What do you think? Shall I move Scorpion II? Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 11:25, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Nephiliskos Yes that's a good idea, I hate the terms "Scorpion king" and "King scorpion" which are unscientific and are much too close to the name of a crappy movie ("The Scorpion King"). I entirely support your move. Also I agree with you that the article is in a really bad shape. As soon as I am done with Sheshi I will try to consult my sources to see if I can help you on it. Iry-Hor (talk) 08:06, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Great! Just put some links to the article from List of Pharaohs, the pharaohs template etc. Iry-Hor (talk) 13:10, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
I emended the list of pharaohs, but I can't handle the template. Well, at least king Crocodile isn't orphaned anymore.^^ Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 14:53, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Nephiliskos I have added Crocodile to the pharaoh template this way it show up in all pages that have the template at the bottom of the page. So from what you wrote I get that Crocodile was a predynastic ruler of some part of Upper Egypt? If this is right, then we might want to put his name up in here Naqada_III. Iry-Hor (talk) 16:38, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Iry-Hor From what I learned in my books, it seems that Egyptologists and Linguists are waging some kind of "bitch fight" over tis ruler. :D They are unsure if he really existed or not. And yes, king Croc is dated into the late Naqada III era. So you can put him into besaid article, if you like. ;) Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 17:10, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Nephiliskos I have had to remove your statements concerning the Abydos King List: it is precisely the only one to record the 7th and 8th Dynasties of the First Intermediate Period. I am aware that the 9th and 10th dynasties are missing from the list but it seems incorrect to state that the entire First Intermediate Period is missing. The Abydos king List has proven invaluable in understanding the short lived 7th/8th dynasty. Iry-Hor (talk) 13:16, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Aah, ok. Maybe I misunderstood Wilkinson's explanation. Thanks for cerrections. Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 13:18, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Nephiliskos I was wondering about the "Giza King List" that you have added to the list of Ancient Egyptian King Lists on the List of Pharaohs article. I don't know this list, I have never heard of it so I would be very interested!! if you could tell me what it is! Is there an article on the German wiki that I can google translate? Or a book that I can read? Thanks! Iry-Hor (talk) 09:59, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Ok, for first: the original and scientific primary name for that artifact is Giza writing board. It was created by an high official named Mesdjerw during the end of 5th dynasty or (more possibly) at the beginning of the 6th dynasty. The writing board is unique, it is divided into 5 chapters: chapter 1-2 is empty, chapter 3 lists all kings that Mesdjerw may have practiced the mortuary cult for. It also lists deities and domains in which Mesdjerw may have held office. And chapter 4-5 lists traditional sacrificial birds and fishes. The first three chapters are repeated four times each (like a refrain), the sacrificial list is unrepeated. I was already up to write an article about that, since the German Wiki has one. Regards;--Nephiliskos (talk) 13:53, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
