Contributing

With these references at hand, we hope you find it easier to contribute to Wikipedia. Here's a brief synopsis of some ways you can:

• We obviously wouldn't have an encyclopedia without articles. This page shows how you can help them grow.

• Removing vandalism and keeping the integrity of articles intact is a great way of contributing. More information on how to do so can be found here.

• Fixing typos, correcting poor grammar and repairing broken links are just some examples of useful, behind the scenes contributions. Even just making things look nice makes using Wikipedia more pleasant for everybody.

• If you like working with images, you might be interested in the Graphic Lab. Similarly, this page shows you how to work with images in Wikipedia articles.

• This page lists the many types of tasks you can do to maintain Wikipedia.

• There are numerous WikiProjects that aim to provide coordination and collaboration on particular subjects. From this list, you can join a project and contribute within an area that interests you.

Same-sex marriage amendment list

Hey, notice you've been updating that page with current election results. You undid an edit in which I moved Michigan into the Virginia category, mentioning that no source was cited. When I made the change, I did note the court case on which I was basing the move on the Talk page -- check it out. The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that the amendment bans public employers from offering domestic partner benefits (another kind of contract). I am not sure I love our three categories (marriage, marriage/CU, marriage/CU/other contracts) but I think it's clear Michigan belongs in the third if we leave them that way.--Inonit (talk) 04:22, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Basketball players

I'm unsure of Wikipedia's policies towards this, but what criteria are needed to create an article on a current NCAA basketball player? An article for former Memphis player Willie Kemp was deleted, citing "No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content." I have seen other athlete's articles, all of which were very similar to Kemp's. From what I can recall, his page had plenty of information detailing who he is and what his significance was (that of a basketball player for a major D1 program, same as many other articles.)

I'm planning on creating articles for the relevant Memphis players (primarily those who are likely going to go on and play in the NBA), and I want to know what kind of information they need to not be deleted. Thanks. Azyrii (talk) 22:32, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
