AfD nomination of 100% Lucha

edit

100% Lucha, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that 100% Lucha satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/100% Lucha and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of 100% Lucha during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Rocket000 21:16, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

UWA HARDCORE WRESTLING

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of UWA HARDCORE WRESTLING, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/promotions/uwahardcore.php. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 01:02, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

NWF Kids Pro Wrestling

edit

A tag has been placed on NWF Kids Pro Wrestling, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Speedy deletion of It Happens Every Time

edit

A tag has been placed on It Happens Every Time requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy Delition Challenge

Hello: I won't allow you to delet this beouse It's no so bad. It only needs a few retouches that's all. Also there isn't any more info on it. What else is worng..tell me so I can correct it. thanks FranK (talk) 18:16, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest you have a look at other band albums article pages, and see why these are allowed to carry on. When it was created, there was nothing on the page other than a track listing - nothing to indicate why it was notable enough. If the band do have a page on Wikipedia, I would suggest adding album information on there. Should the article get too big, then perhaps another article page just on the albums would be warranted.
The thing to remember is notability (see Wikipedia:Notability, and decide if the band is notable enough to have an article. I am also copying this onto your talk page, as this is likely to disappear soon, now the article has gone. StephenBuxton (talk) 18:23, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removal of speedy deletion tag

edit

Please do not delete speedy deletion tags. It does no good, as it may still be speedily deleted (other pages are automatically updated when these are put on). Only the hang on tag will stop it, and give you time to make your case. Repeated removal only results in temporary blocks being given. StephenBuxton (talk) 18:38, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

DreamStreet and other deleted articles

edit

Hi. Sorry I couldn't stop last night - only limited log in time at the library.

I see from your talk page that you have been warned about recreating the same deleted article over and over again. I appreciate that this is probably very frustrating for you. These articles are not being deleted just for the sheer hell of it, they are being deleted because there is a strict policy about not creating articles that contain no content, or articles that are about things of no notability, or pages that are blatant adverts. I suggest that you have a look at the policy page about articles that are suitable for speedy deletion before you try and re-create that page. Actually, I would warn against recreating those pages, because you could end up getting blocked.

When you read through the criteria for speedy deletion, try and look at it through our eyes - that is to say, the eyes of those who know nothing about the band or the albums they made. If you look at it through our perspective, you will see that there was very little in the articles you created that made us think that these were articles that should be kept. You will hopefully see that they did meet the criteria.

Missing from your articles were:

1)Any indication that the albums were noteworthy. 2)No Chart informaftion. You even went so far as to say that there was "No Info" in the article. What sort of message is that going to give to people looking for notability? 3)Anything other than a track listing. Nothing about the producer, any citeable anecdotes, any awards they won, nothing like that at all

When a page was deleted, instead of looking at why the articles were deleted, you just posted it straight back up there verbatim. If the article met the criteria for speedy deletion first time, it certainly was going to do it the second (and third, and fourth, ad infinitum) if there were no changes made.

Instead of creating a separate article for each of the albums, I would suggest you go to the band's own article, and expand that. If, in time, the article gets too big, then there would be a good reason to split the article into separate articles.

Before you do that, may I suggest that you have a look at other band album articles, such as Led Zeppelin II. You will notive that the page includes references, a good description of its notability, and many other features that would set it apart than from (shall we say) a track listing on amazon.com.

You have the drive to be a good editor on Wikipedia, and it would be a shame to lose you. However, you have to appreciate that you will find articles you created disappearing (had that happen a few times, ho hum), but then again, there are articles that you create that get built up and become high quality articles. Please don't let the down side to editing put you off.

I also see that you have yet to receive a welcome message - I'll add that now. Do have a read through the articles listed in the welcome message, these will help you when creating articles that should stand the test of time. StephenBuxton (talk) 10:45, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Stories Project

edit

Aloha!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I find stories that drive our annual fundraising efforts. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in Buenos Aires from the 10th - 11th of March 2012.

I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!

Thank you,

Victor Grigas
