Leontyne Price edits
editHowdy Idoh,
I noticed you just removed lots of links from the Leontyne Price article. I did see that Maria Callas was linked several times, so I got that one. But I don't believe that was the case with many others, esp. where links to the composers or pieces were useful. So would you please explain the edit? Thanks! X4n6 (talk) 19:55, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
- @X4n6: I removed links that were present in the infobox. Should I not do that for now on? -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 04:06, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
- Not sure I follow you, as there isn't an infobox on that page. X4n6 (talk) 08:06, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

- Gotcha. I didn't word search how many were repeats. Nor did I realize so many were. Many thanks for explaining. Happy editing! X4n6 (talk) 08:16, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello from Susan coombs
editREPLACE THIS TEXT WITH YOUR MESSAGE Suzy (talk) 22:42, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
I am trying to figure out how to fix everything so i can finish the J. Jewels Page. I have a template but i need help formating and i have more citations and references also.
Suzy (talk) 22:42, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: What you need most of all is references. A lot of other things (formatting, spelling, addition of images, etc.) can be fixed once J. Jewels is an article again, but references isn't among them. You have to provide references yourself, and then you need to rephrase them in your own words. Also, the subject you're writing about (in this case, J. Jewels) needs to be notable according to Wikipedian policy to even become an article.
- You can look at this policy about reliable sources, this policy about notability, and this essay about writing your first article for more information. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:03, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
I made a lot of those changes. Can you have a look now and let me know?
Suzy (talk) 02:34, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: I'm not sure if J. Jewels is notable, now that you've written about him more fully. The artists we have articles on at least should be past the promotional stages.
- Also, there's several common and minor mistakes that will probably be corrected if the draft is moved back to an article. You've linked a lot of words (like "music") that really don't need to be linked. You've bolded "J. Jewels" multiple times, and you really only need to do that the first time. Things like that. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 02:51, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
Awesome... I made those Changes and removed the Bold info. What else does it need?
Suzy (talk) 04:15, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: Maybe a little less emphasis on his earlier life, and a little more on his career. But like I said, I'm not sure if he's notable under our policies. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:58, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
Heard Loud and Clear. I made edits to those again. I am searching more and more cites, i thought it was mentioned somewhere that as long as you have about 3 news articles it should be good? Why do you feel like it may not be accepted?
Any other suggestions? I thank you so much for all your patience and feedback on this so far.
Suzy (talk) 11:53, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: Because he's so early on in his career, it would be difficult to get it through, so to speak. But yes, three sources is the absolute minimum, with five being a good goal to have.
- Looks like you've already submitted the draft. :-) I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:24, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
Yes I submitted the draft, but... i don't really understand. He has been in this business for a while, this is the first time he is doing it as a Artist. But even the cites go back to projects he was working on since 2006, those don't matter?
Yes i submitted it, but is there anything you can do to help get it all approved?
Suzy (talk) 23:31, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: Its' quotes like this that concern me:
In 2015 Jewels decided to shift all focus and attention info the production of his first album called J. Jewels Presents.[3] The album is set to feature a variety of national known and local unknown artists. His first single Itty Bitty Bum Bum[3] is currently in the promotional stages and making it ways to blogs[5] and radio stations worldwide.
- So, basically, he hasn't even released his first album yet. That's pretty early on in the career in "Wikipedia time". Usually, the artist is nationally-known to some extent (they've competed in American Idol-type shows, or they've had at least one song chart on a "greatest hits" type chart somewhere) before they have an article. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 00:05, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Ok, so i should edit that and reflect on earlier projects he worked on? The issue with that is, i can not find documents to support and news to cite the information.
I am going to edit the way that is worded. and you can have a look.
Suzy (talk) 20:07, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: Well, you could do that, but it's probably best not to, because like you said, there's a lack of sources. I'm just preparing you for what's realistically the worst case scenario. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 04:07, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
I made that edit and added a photo to it. Take a look and let me know, or i can just put it back to what it was. I am talking about the "In 2015 he began marketing his "Itty Bitty Bum Bum"[3] single from the forthcoming J. Jewels Presents, the first album release on his new label JEI Music Group,[3] the brain child of..."
Let me know. Suzy (talk) 10:36, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Susan coombs: It can't hurt, at least. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 13:12, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Suzy (talk) 15:23, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi. You sent me a message about why I deleted a bunch of content on the Fontenelle Hotel in Omaha, so here goes: I posted some pictures which evidentially violated some copyright. (How, I don't know - the hotel has been closed since 1970, demolished since 1983, and is now a parking lot. Literally everyone who had anything to do with it is dead, and there is no one living or dead who cares).
Someone named "LX" nominated the pictures for deletion and accused me of stealing the work and wanting to profit from it, which is a really dubious get rich quick plan. I'm not a computer nerd who can spend all day reading Wikipedia's stupid, arcane, confusing BORING articles on copyright, and despite what he/she says, the photo uploading mechanism is confusing. If I could have just been given some instructions on what to do to resolve it I would have, but he/she just kept accusing me of stealing the photos and questioning my motives (One picture came from a brochure from the hotel, two came from an article in a magazine - that I gave credit for - and one was from a postcard that was on sale on eBay. LX wasn't concerned about that one)
So I removed the pictures, and I removed all my content. I realize that's the equivalent of taking my ball and going home, but I'm not going to be condescended to by some weirdo on the internet (I'm talking about LX, not you). I understand you guys self-moderate or something, but some helpfulness would really go a long way. I'm not a jerk who's going in and changing important stuff or vandalizing someone's page. I was trying to share some pictures and information on a historic structure in Omaha. I'm still going to do that, but I'm not going to do it with Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dalangdon (talk • contribs) 13:33, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

editThere is a Wikipedia page for a manufacturer called central boiler. It appears to be only for marketing purposes and the company really doesn't warrant a page. Newbie seeks advice
editHello I Dream of Horses,
When I first entered the world of Wikipedia you kindly welcomed me, for which I thank you.
Subsequently, I wrote a contribution on Michael Stever (https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Michael_Stever) The editor who responded to the initial work (now revised) was Fuhghettaboutit.
I have engaged Fuhghettaboutit on his/her Talk page to enquire of the status of my work but have not received an answer.
As the draft has remained in limbo for two weeks I'm concerned about it.
Have you any advice about moving it forward to publication?
Many thanks, Wordmasternewyork --Wordmasternewyork (talk) 05:04, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Wordmasternewyork: Looks like Fuhghettaboutit removed content that can't exist on Wikipedia because of Wikipedias' copyright policy. As long as you don't put fully copyrighted material on Wikipedia again, you'll continue to have the ability to edit.
- As for what to do to make sure the draft is published, the first thing I'd do (and what many new article creators struggle with!) is to read over our neutrality policies (we need to have a boring and clinical tone) and see how you can tweak the draft accordingly. I could point out a sentence or two, but it's very important that you be able to do that on your own eventually. You should probably also look at WP:REFBEGIN to see how we put inline citations throughout the article. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:31, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the speedy reply I dream of horses. I actually took on board all of the issues (having come to understand the nuances of the copyright and formatting) and revised accordingly. I then contacted Fuhghettaboutit to let him/her know that the draft was thusly revised and ready to be reviewed and hopefully published. But I haven't heard from F. in over two weeks... so I have come to you for advice on moving forward. Wordmasternewyork is feeling frustrated... :-) --Wordmasternewyork (talk) 17:27, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Wordmasternewyork: I've checked and turns out, fuhghettaboutit hasn't edited in over a month! Life probably happened, which would explain the lack of reply. If it reassures you any, there's plenty of other people, like myself, or at WP:AFC and [[#wikipedia-en-help, who can help out. No worries. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:15, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks so much, I dream of horses! Would you be amenable to taking on this edit? --Wordmasternewyork (talk) 16:06, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

- @Wordmasternewyork: No. Put
{{subst:submit}}
at the top, and hope someone that has an interest in Michael Strever for whatever reason reviews it before it gets to be among the older "submitted drafts". It's only fair to do so. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 18:04, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

editCreationism and intelligent design are widely recognized as pseudoscience and should be stated as such. --96.48.244.69 (talk) 22:41, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- I'd agree; however, stating that in those categories isn't going to help our cause any. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 22:51, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
OK. Also cool username. --96.48.244.69 (talk) 22:52, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Contest For Speedy deletion nomination of David Iornem
editHello,
The article David Iornem is not unambiguous advertising because it shows the history of how private universities came to existence in Nigeria. It is also a motivation for younger readers to reference when they are faced with challenges or blackmailing situations. It however, presents an educational source of knowledge and information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IsaacAdom (talk • contribs) 19:32, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
- @IsaacAdom: DGG, Deb, and RHaworth have all deleted it every time the article has been created, and it is now ill-advised to create it again if you haven't realized why it was deleted---because of the tone of the article, not because the information contained within it. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 00:49, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

- Hm. Thanks for explaining. Perhaps I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions.
- Next time, put it under an "external links" section. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 10:09, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

Jack Roeser
edityou are incorrect on two issues, one you cited "information about a living individual" which Jack Roeser is not. two that the information provided was not cited by a reputable source, in this case one of the two citations were provided by the Chicage Tribune, which is the record of source in Chicagoland.
I changed to a different citation to address the inforamtion I felt was essential to the article, again, cited by the Chicago Tribune — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:3485:E0F0:90E2:950E:7358:E7C (talk) 00:51, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

Syllabification of "Citron", using spaces

- Cit ron, I think.
- By the way, the reference desk is a good spot to ask those sorts of questions. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:33, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello I dream of horses,
I have recently updated the German and English Wikipedia Page of Mauermuseum Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie(Checkpoint Charlie Museum), Alexandra Hildebrandt and Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt. I received a message that claims the information may be biased. However, all the new information that was included is totally neutral. All this information is real and linked to newspaper articles, websites and so on.
I am kindly asking you to re-paste the information I have long researched on.
Please feel free to contact me in case you have any questions. I will be delighted to answer them.
Kind regards,
Anna
REPLACE THIS TEXT WITH YOUR MESSAGE Nillsson (talk) 12:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Nillsson: It's the tone of the information that's the issue, not the information itself. Wikipedia needs a dry, clinical tone, not something that you would read in a pamphlet for the museum. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 22:37, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Hello I dream of horses,
thank you for your message. I have revised the text on https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Checkpoint_Charlie_Museum . Please let me know if it suits you well. In my opinion I have highlighted only the dry facts.
If you accept it I could rearrange the German information.
Unfortunately someone deleted the text on https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Rainer_Hildebrandt. Could you please check why since these were also only dry facts about the Human Rights Price which the museum awards(award winners, jury, information).
Looking forward hearing from you.
Kind regards
- @Nillsson: Your edit was reverted by Bgwhite; he or she explained in his edit summary that what you wrote was unreferenced, and more about the person than the medal.
- My main concern about your current edit at Checkpoint Charlie Museum are about references, as well. We accept offline as well as online sources; being the English Wikipedia, we prefer English sources, but also accept non-English sources, too. Changing names of pages
editHello!
My good friend asked me to edit his wikipedia page and I did so graciously. But, the page Carlos López Estrada uses an accent on his first last name, while he does not use one.
How would I go about changing the title of the page to fit his actual name?
Thank you,
Angrypotato4ever (talk) 02:57, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Angrypotato4ever: I think it would help if he emailed info-en-q@wikimedia.org and see what they say. They are experienced editors who can answer questions and requests from article subjects. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:02, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks!!
