Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, Godiva device. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Anaxial (talk) 20:38, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My computer has started telling me I have two IP addresses. What do I do? HowardJWilk (talk) 02:01, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. We need to know your IP address so we can investigate your claim that it's not an open proxy. You can find this using WhatIsMyIP. If you don't wish to provide it publicly, you can use WP:UTRS. Yamla (talk) 12:13, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'm confused. I'm told my address 135.84.127.0/24 is being blocked, but my computer is telling me at various times I have two different addresses, neither of which is 135.84.127.0/24: 73.81.158.136 and 204.52.135.134 . I'm repeating text above because I don't know what's necessary to draw attention to this page:

135.84.127.0/24 is part of the SurfEasy VPN system. That's blocked due to widespread abuse. If you disable your VPN, you should have no problems. Note that you may be using your VPN for a reason, so make sure you understand the consequences of disabling your VPN. --Yamla (talk) 18:19, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Problem apparently was newly installed Norton WiFi security. Have uninstalled.

Good to hear. If you aren't already sure about the consequences (outside of Wikipedia) of uninstalling Norton Wifi security, make sure you check with someone. But my guess is you installed it just recently because "security", and so already knew about the consequences of uninstalling ("returning to prior condition"), and everything's fine. Have a good day! --Yamla (talk) 19:42, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi and thanks for your help. I may have been hacked and it may be related to this. Both my cell phone and my landline were going directly to voicemail even though I didn't set either one up to do that. I can receive calls on both now but I'm not sure what's going on and if it's over or not. Are you able to email me? I'm getting emails that say I have a message from you and then I go to this page, but it would be easier to communicate if we did so directly by email.HowardJWilk (talk) 20:41, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I haven't emailed you. You may be notified that I have responded here. Note that the only reason you were unable to edit was because you were using the Norton wifi security product (which used a VPN). Your block here on Wikipedia absolutely does not indicate that we thought you were hacked; we block everyone using a VPN. I'm not disputing your claim, of course. I can't speak to the weirdness that's happening with your cell phone and land line. So, let me reiterate. I think you are totally sorted with regard to Wikipedia. :) --Yamla (talk) 21:44, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
