I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Gpkp [u • t • c] 06:16, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Self-closed tags and bold markup
editI just edited 3 of your userboxes changing <B>...<B />
to <B>...</B>
. Tags are closed with a slash at the beginning, not at the end. A slash at the end means the tag is opened and closed all in one step. For example, <ref name="Smith 2020" />
means <ref name="Smith 2020"></ref>
, opening and closing the reference in one step. It is useful for a few tags such as <ref>
, but it's inappropriate for font markup tags such as bold and italics. And by the way, in Wikipedia, the preferred way to mark up bold is with three apostrophes, viz:
'''This is bold'''
→ This is bold
and similarly the preferred way to mark up italics is with two apostrophes, viz:
''This is italic''
→ This is italic

editHello, I'm IAmChaos. I noticed that you recently removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
- Hi, I saw your edit at Earthquake cycle. Please see my edit summary at en:Special:Diff/1072074137. If you want to create an article, please feel free to put it at that page or create it at en:Draft:Earthquake Cycle, but try not to leave blank article pages in the meantime. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 20:54, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message
editHello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
