Unable to use "edit this page" link.

edit

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to Wiki, need some help from you guys, thanks!

Currently I'm only able to edit subsections of an article via the "edit" link.

However, when I wish to edit the entire article by clicking on the "edit this page" link on top of the article, the browser prompted me to save the PHP to disk instead.

Think this is a Browser settings problem, how to fix it?

The strange thing is that all my Browsers (IE7, Netscape, Firefox) behave the same.

Henryong 03:05, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Henry! I'm not sure what your exact problem is, but I'll try and look into it. Are the articles you're editing particularly long? Sometimes browsers have problems editing articles that are longer than about 90k. - CheNuevara 03:10, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think I have your problem figured out -- you may have an external editor enabled for text fields. If you've done this on purpose and would like to keep it, then you'll just have to deal with it. If you didn't want this function, then open up your browser preferences and disable "use external editor". Let me know if this helps! - CheNuevara 03:14, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks CheNuevara, I've figured this out as well having looked at the FAQ section. Henryong 03:56, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Commissioners Cup.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Commissioners Cup.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:04, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:S.League_Trophy.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

UEFA Champions League Trivia

edit

Do you have a source for United advancing after losing their first 3 games? I'm going to have to delete it till I see a reference. Kingjeff 00:22, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Glad that you took the initiative to check with me personally. The source is in fact Wikipedia itself, :-) Check http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/UEFA_Champions_League_2002-03#Group_E. Please help revert the deletion, many thanks! Henryong 02:54, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Is there any external articles that you can get. That would be better then having another Wikipedia article. Kingjeff 13:48, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is the Official Source from UEFA: http://www.uefa.com/competitions/UCL/history/Season=2002/round=1636/Group=1492.html Henryong 07:21, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
This is another more specific source: "Manager Profile: Sir Bobby Robson" http://soccernet.espn.go.com/print?id=31&type=manager&cc=5739 Life in the Champions League seemed a struggle at the beginning for the Magpies, losing their first three group games, but they recovered to win their final three and become the first side to ever recover from such a dismal start. They just fell short in the second group stage, up against Inter Milan, Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen, after losing their opening two games.

MLS Reserve Division

edit

A tag has been placed on MLS Reserve Division, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. FC Quebec

edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article FC Quebec, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Notability of Pay Fong High School Alumni Singapore

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Pay Fong High School Alumni Singapore, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Pay Fong High School Alumni Singapore seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Pay Fong High School Alumni Singapore, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Prime League 2009

edit

Hi, Henry. I notice that the sleague.com has finally put up all the details of the reserves' Prime League on the web. I think it would be good to create a page, but just how detail it should go, I will want to seek your opinion.Frankie goh (talk) 07:59, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

That's cool, just go ahead with the creation!! Think you can follow the S.League 2009 template for it, though Prime League info are typically limitted and delayed in updates...

AfD nomination of MLS Wooden Spoon

edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is MLS Wooden Spoon. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MLS Wooden Spoon. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:EtoileFC.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:EtoileFC.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 06:49, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:EtoileFC.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:EtoileFC.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
