Pinging is not emailing

Pinging exists only within Wikipedia. It's done several ways. Within double curly brackets {{ }} the letter u followed by a | (that symbol is above the backslash key) and then the Users name. Pinging typically used on Talk page of an article or at Teahouse. There is no need to ping someone if the comment/reply is being put on that person's Talk page.
