Hi Helmardine--I'm sure you know Snorkeling exists already; you focus more on technical aspects. But here's the thing: what you cite, most of what you cite, aren't secondary sources. It's mostly technical information sourced with documents that outline standards, patents, etc., but Wikipedia requires secondary sourcing. See WP:V. Without that, I doubt that this will be accepted in article space. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 18:29, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- I'm less worried than my friend, the good doctor about your over-reliance on primary sources. They are acceptable if used carefully, although more secondary sources would definitely benefit the article. Check the Snorkeling article for sources that you can re-use as you split the article. Have a look through BSAC and PADI manuals, see what's around on descriptive sources like the Divernet one you already have used. If you want me to give an opinion on the quality of sources you're uncertain about, please ask me.
- To move into mainspace, it is necessary for a draft to stand a good chance of not being deleted at WP:Articles for deletion. It doesn't have to be a fully-formed article, just good enough to be retained – the idea being that more editors will then contribute to refine and improve it.
- I'm really happy to see another editor keen to improve our scuba articles. Have you considered joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Underwater diving? You'd be very welcome. --RexxS (talk) 23:49, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- I will second all of what RexxS says above. Ping me if you need help with sourcing - I may know of something useful.
- Also, well done for exposing a hole in our coverage, i.e. standards. There is a lot of scope for improvement there, specially if you have access to the documents, which is often a problem. I have added a section to the navbox for diving equipment for standards, and now we just need to populate it with articles. Use my talk page to discuss diving articles if you prefer, but I watch Wikipedia:WikiProject Underwater diving and it is a suitable space to discuss anything about diving articles. particularly those which don't yet exist. Cheers. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 04:51, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Submarine Products, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Acomb, Buoyancy compensator and Heinke (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

editISO 21416-2019 Recreational diving services
editHi Helmardine, Do you have access to ISO 21416-2019 Recreational diving services? Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 08:59, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
Afraid not. I had to buy all my own copies of the standards I've mentioned so far in diving articles, and I see that the ISO standard costs over £120! Considering that the Russians post their standards online for free download...
There's a summary of the standard at https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:std:70875:en. Helmardine (talk) 10:11, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

editTwinkle
editHi, I noticed your revert to Haenyeo. Unfortunately, the IP had made two disruptive edits to the article and you only reverted the last one. You might find it helpful to enable WP:TWINKLE in your preferences. It will allow you to revert all consecutive edits by an editor with one-click, and can also automatically open that editor's talk page so you can leave a warning. It makes dealing with inappropriate edits much more efficient. Cheers! Schazjmd (talk) 15:04, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

- A pleasure. I knew that five-year Latin course I completed at secondary school in the early 1960s would come in useful one day! Most Latin masculine nouns ending in "-us" belong to the second declension in Latin, where the plural form does end in "-i" (e.g. dominus, domini). The smaller fourth-declension group of masculine nouns, including apparatus, comes with a singular ending in "-us" and a plural ending in "-ūs" (long u vowel). - I did a degree in French and German during the late 1960s. While working as a school foreign language assistant on my year abroad in France, I enrolled on a part-time language laboratory course at a nearby French university. I quit after one session, not because of the new technology but because the practice assignments required me to memorise the thirty-word-long French sentences I heard through the headset before converting them to the past tense. I still believe that the memory overload involved was unreasonably heavy, that I should have had a written backup and that I was right to quit because the methodology was inappropriate for me at that time.
