Vandalism

edit

Please stop vandalising the pages of Spanish football managers. Nationality and ethnicity are two different things, and nationality is most relevant - footballers play for countries and work abroad on national passports. Someone can be of Catalan/Basque ethnicity and Spanish (or French) nationality. This is just like how people of Indian nationality come from hundreds of ethnic groups.

I know previously on talk pages you have cherry picked sources saying Arteta etc. are Basque because you saw the word in a source. It is true that he is Basque but that is his ethnicity or region and the sources also say he is Spanish, his nationality. So you shot yourself in the foot there.

If you go vandalising pages again with your fantasy POV that the Spanish nationality doesn't exist, I will report you. Wikipedia is based on more than your personal views. Unknown Temptation (talk) 10:25, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh please report me! The idea that it is vandalism to accurately descrive someone's nationality is absurd. You clearly have an opinion on something you do not understand. You do not control Wikipedia. It is not your personal fiefdom. 86.145.188.38 (talk) 16:42, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Your opinions on names not following Spanish customs if they come from another language (even García comes from the Basque language), and the fact you think that it is incorrect to call Emery a Spaniard (which even his employer does [1]) suggests that someone else does not understand something. One more time for those at the back! Spain is a country. This country has many ethnicities, including Basques, Catalans and the majority Castilians. It also has millions of residents and citizens of non-Spanish ethnicities. It is not false to say that people born in the Catalan and Basque regions of Spain are Spanish. Wikipedia articles define people by nationality, unless they are particularly known for cultural or political work related to their ethnicity.
