Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for pointing out the problem at carboxymethyl cellulose. I have fixed it now. (However, in the future, it would be better to make comments about the article on the talk page instead - Talk:carboxymethyl cellulose, in this case.) ChemNerd (talk) 13:48, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
I reverted several of your recent changes to Circle of confusion, for reasons I've explained on the talk page. Some of the later changes might be OK, but Wikipedia articles need to be based on widely accepted facts or supported by reliable sources; cambridgeincolour does not qualify as such a source, and the values you support with that site are markedly at odds with values from several reliable sources. You also removed several nonbreaking spaces between quantity values and unit symbols; although that may not reflect your personal preference (or that of many photographic equipment manufacturers), it's required by the Wikipedia Manual of style, as well as by ISO and NIST. If you disagree with some of these points, please discuss them on the talk page.
Please don't be discouraged by the revert and my comments; these issues come up frequently with new editors. Hopefully, you'll stick around to contribute to Wikipedia. JeffConrad (talk) 08:55, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I reverted one of your recent changes to Circle of confusion, and revised another, because these changes weren't correct, for reasons indicated in the history. Although Wikipedia policy encourages editors to be bold, it also urges them to be careful. Your comments on the talk page suggest that you're fairly new to this topic, and I would encourage you to ensure that you really understand the material that you consider revising. In the long run, you'll be a far more effective contributor.
I've once again restored defocus in several places; we sometimes need to make the distinction. For example, it makes absolutely no sense to talk about “blur spots” and “general blur spots” in the same context. Please don't remove these references again. I added mention of defocus in the first case under Two uses; hopefully this will make the term more clear. JeffConrad (talk) 04:14, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
If something seems wrong with an article, but you're not quite sure how to make it right, the best approach is to so indicate on the talk page (as you've just done). As I've indicated in detailed replies on that page, I agree with many of your points. Unfortunately, fixing some of them may not be something that's done in a few minutes. JeffConrad (talk) 04:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Duncan McIntyre Inscription.tif
editThanks for uploading File:Duncan McIntyre Inscription.tif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:05, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

File:Duncan McIntyre (Explorer).tif needs authorship information.
editThe media file you uploaded as File:Duncan McIntyre (Explorer).tif is missing information as to its authorship (and or source) , or if such information is provided it is confusing.
Although images may not need author information in un-controversial cases, or where an applicable source is provided, such information aids those making use of the image, and helps verify the copyright status of an image.
If possible, please consider updating the media information page to make the authorship (and or source) of this media clearer.
If the media is your own work, please consider explicitly including your user name or using the {{own}} template on the media information page.
If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:49, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Generalized gamma?

Pink Floyd
editHi, I'm sorry about the revert to the Pink Floyd article summary saying your edit was vandalism. it wasn't in any way vandalism. Unfortunately my browser expanded the page just as I clicked on "undo", instead it hit "rollback vandalism" instead. The reason for the undo was that you cannot use Wikipedia itself as a reference as, ironically, it's classed as an unreliable source. Once again, sorry about the mistaken click. --The Pink Oboe (talk) 15:54, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- Pink Oboe is correct in that you may not use Wikipedia as a self-reference. References must be from 3rd-party reliable published sources. You may cut & paste the references from one article to another, however. Thank you,

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Jack Breheny.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Jack Breheny.jpg, which you've attributed to Arnold Rowlands. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:54, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
