Latvian ice hockey
editHey, I've noticed you have an interest in the Latvia ice hockey team? I'm going to try getting all the American and Canadian player articles upto a respectable state before the Games. Are you up to doing the same for the Latvian players? Check out: Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey and and of the players I fixed up at Philadelphia Flyers. ccwaters 13:51, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

German Wikipedia - de:Lettische Eishockeyliga
editDear Gragox, I've moved your article about the Latvijas Atklātais čempionāts in the German Wikipedia to de:Lettische Eishockeyliga in order to correct a spelling mistake. Furthermore, I've added some information to the article, like its new name "Samsung Premjerlīga" and the fact that one of the six teams is from Lithuania. It would be nice if you could check the new version to see whether everything is correct. Some more information, for example about the history of the league, would be greatly appreciated as well :). Help needed
editHi! You were the first Wikipedian in the "speaks Latvian" category who has been active in the last few days, so I came to you with this request: I'd like to put the results of the referendum held yesterday into the article, but I'm not sure which part of the table at http://www.tn2008.cvk.lv/ are the yes, no, participation etc. figures. Could you help me with that? Also, I'm wondering how true reports are that despite the failure of the referendum due to low turnout, there will likely be a similar measure adopted due to strong pressure? Thanks a lot! —Nightstallion 11:14, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Discussion about Holocaust
editOur agreement is that Holocaust scholars are speaking about "only" 6 Holocaust Extermination camps (stupid definition but ....). Our disagreement is about creation of sub section other extermination camps. With knowledge that there has been many others extermination camps and sites (I know 7 of them) question is: Will we create subsection in The Holocaust template for this camps ? Can you please hear your comments about this question in section Non involved users because maybe even Latvia will have place in rewriten template (events in 1941)?--Rjecina (talk) 15:33, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Cilveka 100.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Cilveka 100.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

"Soviet births"
editHey, the issue of birth places for Baltic states during the Soviet occupation was discussed here and mainly here. The result was no consensus, but since 99% of Estonians born during that era have just "Estonia" in the infobox, consistency should be followed. After all, you were the one, who first changed the birthplace to Estonian SSR. H2ppyme (talk) 17:06, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, it was another user, but it was changed from Estonia, so my point stands. H2ppyme (talk) 17:09, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- The problem is, there really was no consensus and similar points were made by other users. However, it seems that among Latvian and Lithuanian people, there is a total mess. Among Estonians, ca. 99% actually don't have any mentioning of being born under USSR occupation, since it really doesn't matter. For example, if there was an article about me, born in 1990, the fact that USSR was still occupying the country, would not matter at all, people can see that in the history of Estonia section, since legally the country was the Republic of Estonia. And I do not deny that I have reverted lots of edits that have inserted the SSR into the infobox. I have reverted these edits, but if re-reverted, I have always presented the discussion. Imagine falling into a new hundred-answer long discussion every time this happens - people have had a chance to say their opinion already. But ca. 90% articles have had just "Estonia" since the very beginning. H2ppyme (talk) 18:09, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- H2ppyme is correct, it is an informal standard to list the birthplace as Estonia in these BLP articles. --Nug (talk) 19:53, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

The article Julius Kuto has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Fails WP:NTRACK. Did not place in top 8 at one of the major 5 marathons. Doesn't own a world or continental record.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bgwhite (talk) 23:33, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello,
Just to clarify about the article, it lists players by the country of birth, regardless of whether they had any connection to said country. So for someone like Grigorijs Panteļejevs, even though he is Latvian, he was born in (what is now) Russia, and therefor would be counted as that; whereas Viktor Tikhonov, he was born in Riga and thus is listed under Latvia, though like you noted he has no other connection to the country. But I will concede that Sergei Zholtok shouldn't have Russia listed as one of the countries he played for; it was rather the CIS, and I'll correct that. Hopefully this helps explain what is going on with the article. Any questions feel free to ask. Kaiser matias (talk) 13:24, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I see you are listed as a member of a WikiProject of a Baltic state. I was wondering if anybody who actively works on Estonian, Lithuanian or Latvian articles, would be interested in launching your own Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic), based on the Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) and Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea would be to try to bring about 1000 article improvements and creations on this region as an enjoyable challenge and potentially things like National Contests with prizes. If you'd be interested and think it's something you might regularly contribute to, comment and sign up at Talk:Baltic states. If there is interest we can move this to a project somewhere and set something up, thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 08:56, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 5
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rebeka Koha, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Split. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free image File:HK Riga logo.png
editThanks for uploading File:HK Riga logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Disambiguation link notification for July 17
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Latvia national football team, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Daugava Stadium (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Serzanta Lapina atgriesanas.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Serzanta Lapina atgriesanas.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:04, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
