Image copyright problem with Image:Ghoust.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Ghoust.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 09:49, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Speedy deletion tagging
editI have reverted your tagging of Alt-N Technologies and MDaemon, as they were incorrectly tagged. For valid speedy deletion criteria, please see WP:CSD. If you still believe these articles should be deleted, you are welcome to take them to Articles for deletion. If you have any questions about that process, feel free to ask me, either here or on my talk page. Thanks. Brad 15:57, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Bradv. I'm a regular user of Wikipedia, and a very occasional editor so I'm not deeply familiar with all of Wikipedia's policies. I try and correct what I notice. I came across these two articles today and was surprised at such blatant self-promotion. One editor has performed basically all the edits on both articles, has only edited other pages to reference these two articles. All references on both articles are links to material produced by Alt-N Technologies, hardly an impartial source. I read WP:CSD to try and find the correct way to raise my concern. How should I have done this? Or is publishing your own company product brochures on wikipedia acceptable? Gladrim (talk) 17:59, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've tagged both articles as containing advertising. I think these topics are probably notable enough for inclusion, but they could use some additional sourcing and some rewriting of some sections. If you disagree with me, you're welcome to take them to Articles for Deletion. Instructions for doing that are at WP:AFDHOWTO. Brad 18:06, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help with that Bradv. I understand the process a bit better now. Gladrim (talk) 18:36, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
