Speedy deletion nomination of Ur browser

edit

Hello, Gerçois

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ur browser for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Ur browser moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Ur browser, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.   Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Indigenous peoples in Canada into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. /wiae /tlk 00:02, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I can't delete articles; only administrators can do that.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Eon Kid, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. The page used to be at Iron Kid and was moved to Eon Kid. Discuss on the talk page if you think it should be moved back. Belbury (talk) 17:18, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Belbury but it is only called Eon kid only in America it does not represent iron kid, Eon kid should be mentioned as an alternative name, not as the main title of the article Gerçois (talk) 17:22, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
The page was moved to Eon Kid some years ago with the reasoning that the show is "better known" to English audiences under this name, and that this is the English Wikipedia project. See WP:PCM for how to start a talk page discussion about a potentially controversial page move. --Belbury (talk) 17:32, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Edit Summaries and Minor Edits

edit

Please include an Edit Summary when making changes – they allow other interested parties to more easily stay abreast of article revisions. Please see: Help:Edit summary for additional information on the topic.

Please don't mark edits as minor if they change the content or meaning of an article. Minor Edits are for simple typo fixes, reverting of vandalism, layout corrections, and the like. Marking non-minor edits as minor is frowned upon, as they correlate with entries on users' H:Watchlist. For more information, please see: Help:Minor edit.

Proper way to insert images in infoboxes

edit

Hello. I am @Archer1234. I noticed your recent edit to Iron kid where you added an image to the infobox. I want to let you know that the way you added the image was not done according to Wikipedia's Manual of Style (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE).

When adding an image to an infobox, thumbnails should NOT be used. Simply supplying the file name will work. For example, to use File:Image PlaceHolder.png, you can simply use |image=Image PlaceHolder.png. Captions should be specified with the |caption= parameter. Every infobox is different and the documentation for the infobox in question should be consulted for the proper parameters to match the image and caption.
To fix

Do not use the full image syntax:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead, just supply the name of the image. So, in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg

and optionally:

|caption=Some image caption.

Hopefully you will find this information useful for your future editing. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. — Archer1234 (u·t·c) 17:05, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Adjaran Demographics

edit

Hello there, let us clear this topic up.

The source - which is the government census - did not collect information regarding the demographics of those who identify as Adjaran. In fact, it did not collect information regarding any specific Georgian subgroup.

By editing the information to include Adjaran, even in parentheses as a secondary information, you are inherently ascribing a claim to the source - a claim that it never makes. This is not how citations and references work.

Furthermore, the claim is objectively incorrect. Since the census does not allow for people to self-report which Georgian regional group they identify with, it is impossible to know the breakdown for that criteria. By editing the information to say Georgian (Adjaran), you are claiming that all Georgians in Adjara identify as Adjaran. This is patently false, there are many Gurians, Mingrels, Imeretians, etc. These people may live in Adjara, be registered in Adjara, vote in Adjara, but they would not identify as Adjaran. Adjaran is not merely a locational term, one does not immediately become Adjaran by the virtue of moving to Adjara - and likewise, one does not stop being Adjaran upon leaving its boundaries. All of the Georgian subgroup identities are cultural in nature.

In short, while we do have a very reliable source telling us that 320,742 people out of 333,953 that resided in Adjara during 2014 census identified as Georgian, there is no way to know how many of them identified as Adjaran. Because of that, the edits you make are erroneous and misleading in nature. AncapOgre (talk) 00:05, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
