An opinion like that in a wikipedia article needs a source - since your idea of a "statement of fact" in this case may not agree with other peoples' idea. Find a reasonable place where this point is made and use it as a reference. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 14:03, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

This is what you added (bold added): "The significance of finding this material is not that it represents a health threat as such, because the amount is very small, but that as a fuel by-product it indicates a spill or leakage of high-level waste." This conclusion about its significance is not in the Rutland Herald story, it requires extrapolating from the facts. It may well be true, but it's not supported by that source.

Historic Inventions

I saw your comments on the page Timeline of historic inventions, and you make some good points. I have the page watchlisted, but mainly to watch out or really egregious nationalist/ethnic POV editing. If you think there are problems with the page, please, do start editing it and making changes. Personally, I recommend starting by changing those things that are clearly wrong; although, be sure to cite sources (i.e., personal expertise/knowledge is never a legitimate source of Wikipedia). Presumably others are also watching and will agree or disagree as things change. Like all subjects on Wikipedia, of course, it is not restricted to expert input, although the insight of experts is always helpful. As a side note, do make sure to put new comments on talk pages at the bottom of the page, not the top, and to sign your posts with four tildas (~~~~). I tried something similar, but was vigorously thwarted at every turn by some who wanted to defend every edit as legitimate when obviously they weren't. Without sufficient support I gave up on it. Since then the list has gown downhill. Its become a joke, really. The problem is that there isnt a clear cut definition of what an invention is. Mdw0 (talk) 05:14, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
