File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Sesuvium_edmondstonei.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:10, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Pelican barracuda

edit

Hi, I'm Dr. Kadzi. Geichhorn2000, thanks for creating Pelican barracuda!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please try to remove the single sentences and try to make them flow better eg. "4 m. Feeds mainly on fish . L" Please try to make this sentence flow with the rest, other than that, thanks for your contribution! :)

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Kadzi (talk) 20:26, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Landings.com

edit

Hi. I've noticed a number of your recent edits to airport articles, replacing information (like co-ordinates) with data from landings.com. I've found that most sources, including landings.com, are of variable quality, particular when it comes to smaller fields. I would encourage you not to rely on that single source, especially if the data you are editing has been edited in the last couple of years by someone with a significant number of edits. I know that I contributed a lot in terms of IATA/ICAO/FAA codes, mistaken or over- or under-precise co-ordinates, etc., some of which took quite a bit of research to find "the truth" when multiple sources disagree. Those include FlightStats (based on the commercial Innovata data used by ARS), official IATA and ICAO data, and even official government data like the FAA's NASR. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 02:37, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey - nice job on creating the airport articles. I have two requests: one is that the surfaces of the runways need not be in all caps. Many problems:

edit

Hello! Once again, thank you for starting all of these airport stubs; however, I am finding some problems, especially in your earlier articles, which need addressing.

The first is such: I'm not sure if it is just my computer, but the links to aerobaticsweb.org don't seem to be working. When I replace the aerobaticsweb.org with "landings.com", which is where the data is supposed to be coming from, I come to the correct page (for example, on Aeropuerto Lago Verde, http://aerobaticsweb.org/cgi-bin/search_apt?SCVE is not working for me, but http://landings.com/cgi-bin/search_apt?SCVE is.) Let me know if this is just a localized problem, or if the links are also not working on your end. If so, these will all have to be changed.

Second: The titles of the articles. Some of the older articles have bizzare names, such as Shamshernagar STOLport, and many of the names are in their native language (Flugplatz Zell am See, where Flugplatz is an airfield in German). Per WP:ENGLISH, article titles will be in English. I don't know if there is an easy way to set up your program to look for "airport" or "airfield" in other languages and translate them, but thus must be done. I'm still not sure where the STOLport came from, though. Then, there are the cases where the title of the article and the title given in the prose are completely different (Bahrain SAKHIR AIRBASE vs Sakhir Air Base or Cap. Av. Juan Cochamanidis S. Airport vs Aeropuerto San Ignacio de Velasco). This is also a problem.

Third: Even the name of the airport given in the prose should be in English, with the appropriate language translation template following it (see Vienna International Airport as an example). I would have brought up all of this earlier, but it only really dawned on me that there were so many problems as I worked my way back through the articles you have created, and until then I was content fixing them myself.

Also, do be careful for the times when your program for some reason does not comprehend the elevation data, which appears as such.

Please let me know what you can do to fix these issues, and I think it would be a good idea to go back through the articles that have already been created before going ahead and creating more. "Pepper" @ 14:47, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Update - the aerobaticsweb.org sites now appear to be working for me. I don't know if there is some access based on your website (at the bottom, it says "access provided by Guenther Eichhorn at aerobaticsweb.org"), but that seems to have resolved itself. "Pepper" @ 19:00, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your response. As an alternative to deleting the pages, it makes more sense to "move" them (see WP:MOVE#How to move a page). This will move the page to its new title, and the old title will be preserved as a redirect page. As per above, the link issue seems to be a localized issue that has resolved itself. "Pepper" @ 19:33, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Airport <==> Airfield

edit

Dear, though I know that over in the USA "airport" is the term for all kinds of aerodrome, this is not the case in Europe. All European languages make a firm distinction between an airport (Flughafen, Aéroport, Aeropuerto") which has all kinds of facilities for commercial air transport, and an airfield (Campo di Volo, Flugplatz, Aérodrome) which has none of these. I therefore reverted your changes to the Kiewit article (Kiewit happening to be my plane's base) and intend to do the same to Hoevenen, and perhaps others that you modified. Appreciating your good intentions, but it seems you are too much or too long separated from European culture... BTW there is a page somewhere that recommends not changing from one style of a language (in this case US'an English) to another, unless the subject be closely tied to any such form.
