User talk:FrickFrack/Archive 1

Welcome to Wikipedia! Have you been doing the edits to the One Life to Live page? If you have, they're stellar! I've been waiting for a soap opera contributor to come along; I've done most of the work. Reply on your talk page or mine, whichever is convenient for you. To sign your name, type four tildes (four of ~). Mike H 20:20, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

thanks

edit

Yes I have been editing the One Life to Live page. I saw the "Guiding Light" and "As The World Turns" pages, and thought there was more to be said about "One Life to Live". Also, I edited Erika Slezak's page and added a pic. Thanks for the complement. Johnnyjoe23

Johnnyjoe23 20:29, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Do you post at any soap opera boards? I post at WoST and TWoP. In any case, it's great to have someone else with soap expertise editing. Check User:TheCustomOfLife/Articles to see the articles I've written. The one I'm most proud of (and got nominated for Featured Article Status) was Another World (soap opera). Mike H 20:36, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

I posted previously on WoST and occasionally do so at the ABC One Life to Live Message Boards.

It's always good to have a second opinion. Feel free to edit mistakes in my articles. Put Category:Soap operas in the search engine to see all of the soap opera listings at Wikipedia. Mike H 20:44, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

I had a question at Talk:Ellen Holly. Maybe you can help me answer it. Mike H 22:45, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

Columbia

edit

Hi Johnnyjoe, I changed the "most prestigious" part of the Columbia University GSOJ page to "one of the most" since we have in general tried to stay away from declaring anything "the most" unless it is quantifiable. Hope to see you around Wikipedia. Thanks. Fuzheado | Talk 23:52, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Soap opera actors

edit

When you create a new soap opera actor page, add them to Category:Soap opera actors by using Wiki-links ( ) and placing in the links: Category:Soap opera actors|Last name, first name. I think I added the category to every existing OLTL profile as of yesterday. Mike H 23:59, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)

Publicity photos

edit

The photographers of the publicity photos you've posted of Susan Lucci, Erika Slezak, etc. may not like their work posted here without being notified. As such, I have changed the pictures in the articles to fair use screenshots, something I know for sure we can use. Tell me if I missed any. Mike H 00:12, Aug 5, 2004 (UTC)

I would appreciate it in future if you consulted me before you chopped off such a big chunk of the soap template. Mike H 05:48, Aug 21, 2004 (UTC)

I apologize for chopping it off. I was doing little cuts and snip-its to the OLTL site and thought that if I chopped off some of the soaps on the template box that it would only affect the OLTL site. It was only afterwards I realized my mistake and tried to fix it.

No problem. Mike H 21:30, Aug 23, 2004 (UTC)

Your images

edit

Hi there! Thanks for adding the image Image:Miami brickell.jpg. It currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, and I was hoping that you would add one as untagged images may be deleted eventually. (You can use gfdl to license it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) Thanks! --David Iberri | Talk 19:27, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

Could you also provide source information (and perhaps update the image copyright tags) of these images too?

Thanks! --David Iberri | Talk 19:35, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

Metromover

edit

I see you've been doing lots of work on Metromover and other Miami public transit. I took the liberty of creating a new category, Miami Metromover, which is a subcategory of Metro and I have added the Metromover stations, just empty placeholders where there was not an existing entry. I tried writing some of the station guides but not knowing the geography (I'm in London) I wasn't very successful and gave up rather than risk writing something misleading. --Minority Report|Talk 16:32, Nov 19, 2004 (UTC)

South Florida

edit

Hi, I see you have changed the ranking of South Florida metropoliatan area from 10th to 6th. To follow your line of facts, you may as well change the United States metropolitan area, as that Wikipedia page lists the area as being 13th.--Mad Max 22:49, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

edit

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

You just copied the contents of this to Tri-Rail/Metrorail Transfer Station, which I had moved it from. First of all, this is not the proper way to move a page; you should use the move link, or, it that doesn't work, put it on Wikipedia:Requested moves. Second, I believe it is Wikipedia policy not to use / in the title of an article, as that implies a subpage. --SPUI 23:56, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Now you're doing the same with the Tri-Rail stations. Please stop, especially since you are not moving them correctly. Also, the standard for Wikipedia, at least in the US, is Foo (System station) - Wikipedia:Naming conventions (stations). --SPUI 00:02, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Are you sure that the yard trackage used by Amtrak in Hialeah is owned by Metrorail, or does Metrorail maybe have a separate yard? --SPUI 19:52, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sorry for being unclear - I was referring to http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Amtrak&curid=51928&diff=0&oldid=0 . --SPUI 20:00, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

edit

I reverted your edits about her middle name. I was editing from an anon IP at the time, and IMDB says that this is her correct middle name. Considering the date she was born, it seems valid. Mike H 17:58, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)

Farley Granger & Sammy Davis Jr.

edit

Hi, imdb incorrectly lists them. The award Sammy David Jr was nominated for was in 1980, not 1979, and was actually won by Hugh McPhillips from Days of Our Lives. The 1977 awards did not have a supporting actor category. Granger was nominated in the Best Actor category but lost. Seee this page for more info [1]. Thanks for your attention though. - PS I have informed imdb of the incorrect listings so they should be changed in a few weeks. Dowew 20:53, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

M-DCPS

edit

Hey, Thanks for your great contributions to the M-DCPS article, but I have a question about Booker T. According to Miami-Dade's website, and the school's own site, Washington was opened and built in 1986, the comment you added to the article doesn't reflect that, perhaps the original B.T. Washington was not the same as the current one, or is there some sort of mistake there? I always heard Edison was the first black school in Miami, but I could be wrong. What do you think? -- PRueda29 Ptalk29 23:36, 16 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Metro.JPG

edit

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Metro.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 06:01, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Civicclibrary.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Thanks for uploading Image:DouglasRoad.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Elonka 08:47, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Percysledge.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Percysledge.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
