Minor edits

edit

Hey there, please refrain from marking that many edits as minor, as I've noticed you have done at Trap, Twisters, and many places more. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. That includes your copy edits and sentence shuffling, which shouldn't be marked as minor edits. Thanks for all your edits! Aaron Liu (talk) 00:03, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Could you provide links to some erroneous edits? I've been using the "minor edit" tag almost exclusively for grammar and wiki markup fixes. Filmgoer (talk) 00:06, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Certainly! Stuff like Special:Diff/1237248396 and Special:Diff/1237678084 are supposed to not be marked as minor. The first one changes the meaning slightly, and the sentence-moving part of the second one claims that the sentence is cited by the first two sources as well. Usually what we do is say "ce", short for "copyedit", in the summary for such edits and describe them a bit more. Basically every edit that changes the meaning, however slightly, should not be marked as a minor edit. Aaron Liu (talk) 00:25, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Filmgoer (talk) 00:26, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
