Image copyright problem with Image:Montecitorio.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Montecitorio.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. As regards your consecutive reverts at Italy: Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. "Triestino/Tergestino"

You recently reverted my edit on the Trieste article [1] on the grounds that the text referred not to the Trieste dialect, but to natives from Trieste. However, this is wrong, and I advise you to read the text again, and then read the source that you provided:

• • The dominant local Venetian dialect of Trieste is called Triestine ("Triestin" - pronounced /triˈɛstin/, in Italian "Triestino" or poetically "Tergestino"[1]).

It is obvious from this passage of the article that we are talking specifically about the dialect spoken in Trieste, in which case Tergestino has a very different meaning from Triestino. To quote the source:

2 s.m. TS ling., dialetto del gruppo friulano, in uso nell’area triestina sino al XIX sec.

That is, if we are talking about the dialect, then Tergestino must be distinguished from Triestino: Tergestino was a dialect related to Friulan that went extinct in the 19th Century, while Triestino is a Venetian-based dialect spoken to this day in Trieste. Clearly, the passage that I had changed DOES NOT talk about "natives from Trieste", it talks about the current DIALECT of Trieste, in which case Tergestino is not synonymous with Triestino. So please consider these facts and you will see that my edit was more than justified. E.Cogoy 00:32, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't really care about your dispute but I feel obliged to tell you that Italians have very few similarities to the French culturally and physically, the only link is the linguistic element. The French in average look a lot more like the Germans, and the Italians are purely a mediterranean people since ancient times. Plus the French bean the Italians at football 3-1, which points out their striking cultural differences. ;) Miskin 21:26, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

If you wish to contribute to the discussion, please do so - a decision will be made about the naming convention. Also, "Sudtirolo" does exist - there are references for you to look up if need be... Fertuno, I just came across your two edits in response to my comment on the talk page of the article on Italian people [7]. I'd like to ask you to moderate your tone when speaking with other Wikipedians; your comments toward me bordered on personal attacks, as you made several broad statements accusing me of stereotyping and claiming that I don't know about Italy or its history. As it turns out, I am a second-generation American, descended from immigrants who came to the U.S. from Italy, including some from Liguria, and I have visited Italy and France numerous times. Regardless, I'm asking you to keep your talk page comments focused on the issues around the article, rather than around the individuals with whom you're having the discussion. I can assure you that nobody in France would feel ashamed to be linked to Italians, I don't know how you came up with that. The editors who are reverting this are mainly Italians from what I have figured. There both links and differences between the two cultures, but as there are no fixed criteria as to who is related to whom, then there will always be pov-pushing and edit-wars on the topic. So to decide whether the French, Portuguese and Maltese should be there is fruitless as long as the "related peoples" concept is based on a purely personal interpretation. In my opinion this field of the infobox is a big mistake in the first place. Would you support to remove it completely? Miskin 00:29, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Nonsense

I saw this here: Italian it is not an agglutinative language as is German,... And I found your name below it. As a linguist, I know exactly that German - as all the other germanic languages (English, Dutch asf.) - is NOT an agglutinative language. It has a complex inflection system, more complex than the Italian one, what means that it is the complete opposite of agglutinative languages. The word "Südtirol" isn't just a putting-together of "south" and "tyrol". It is a word, that exists because of a historical developement by combining the ideas of being south and a part of Tyrol. So, it makes every sense to translate it as Sudtirolo, my linguistic friend... PS: It seems you have taken the wrong way to patriotism. Be careful! By an anonymous South Tyrolean.
