Re-ordering of Living Marjas without discussion/references

Dear All, it was agreed upon by the authors of the article List of Marjas:

  1. The list would not be re-ordered, and any names will not be removed without giving references or discussions.
  2. The order of the list for living Marjas would be alphabetical, and for deceased Marjas would be reverse chronological, until all agree on a better standard.

The two things which require discussion are:

  1. The list has been shrunk from 24 to 18 without any discussions and references. The removal of reputed marjas like Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Qorban Ali Kaboli, etc requires some justification. Please discuss on the article's discussion page.
  2. The list has been re-ordered with apparently no standard at all, e.g. Ali Khamenei was moved to last. Please discuss on the article's discussion page.

Galleries

You may be new to Wiki, but if you look at all featured articles, you will NOT find galleries. There is a reason for this. Wikicommons is for galleries. This is an encyclopedia. There is no need to have a gallery unless you are describing somthing that can't be described with just words.

Flag of Belraus can not be described in just words, which is why it makes sense to have a gallery. Postage stamps of ireland also describes an image that cant be well described in words. AIR INDIA is NOT an image and a gallery does not help explain the airline.

If you want to add this gallery, you need to get consensus because for the 2 years which i have been on Wiki, that article has not had a gallery. Please gain consensus before readding. Thanks.

P.S. If you want a gallery, I suggest you start another page called Images of Tata Airlines timetable covers

Aligarh division

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Aligarh division, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Aligarh Division. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 13:01, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Rollback?

Hello. Recently I noticed your anti-vandal work on the Shia Islam article. The easiest way to clean up vandalism and spam is via the rollback tool. If you are willing to abide by the rollbacker rules (see WP:ROLLBACK), I would be more than happy to grant you access to this function. If, after reading WP:ROLLBACK, you promise to follow the rollback rules to the best of your ability, just drop a quick message on my talk page saying as much and I will update your rights. Thanks again for your help in keeping Wikipedia clear of vandalism! --Kralizec! (talk) 13:24, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Kralizec! Speedy deletion of File:Begum hazrat mahal stamp.gif

A tag has been placed on File:Begum hazrat mahal stamp.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:Begum hazrat mahal stamp.gif|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 20:16, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Ali

Please note that is considered inappropriate to insert POV and personal opinions into articles as you did to Ali. I've reverted the material, and if it is inserted again I will file a report at ANI requesting that further action be taken. Doc Tropics 17:53, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for replying on my talkpage. I was going to start a new section on the Ali talkpage so we can discuss this further, but you have already done so. I will comment there after reviewing the material you posted. Thanks again! Doc Tropics 18:50, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Happy holidays! Merry festivals! Please accept my good wishes during this special season, and thanks again for your help. Doc Tropics 18:46, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Just wanted to say well done on getting that whole Ali thing worked out. I apologise if I was too harsh or if it came across as though I was attacking you personally; I assure you, my friend, that there was no such intent at all. My only concern on here is get a high-quality project done properly, and I'm glad it came through after all.

Keep up the good work! RavShimon (talk) 06:15, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Please help

Hello Faizhaider, I am a journalist at The National newspaper in Abu Dhabi (www.thenational.ae), we circulate throughout the Middle East.

I noticed your name on the list of Arab Wikipedians and wonder if you would be interested in talking to me for an article.

It is about the recently proposed changes to the Wikipedia editing rules (http://www.journal-online.co.uk/article/5405-wikipedia-proposes-moderatorapproved-editing).

If you are interested in talking to me, please email me on: ogood@thenational.ae (preferably with a phone number) as soon as possible. Also please include your location.

Many thanks, Oliver Good. Olivergood (talk) 10:32, 15 March 2009 (UTC) Olivergood 14:32, 15 March 2009 (GMT+4)

Ali revisited

Thanks for letting me know about the latest discussion; I have reviewed and commented on the talkpage. While my comments didn't support including the quote, I'm not strongly opposed to it either. As always, I'm pleased to engage in useful discussions with yourself and the other editors there, and I wish you well. Doc Tropics 15:48, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm not at all offended: I know your intent is to add what could be extraordinarily useful information; I was just concerned that it was being added in a rather less-than-fully-useful way. As for the "he" bit... well, I kind of guessed by the "Mohammad" bit in your name, but I just kind of like making light of the fact that one never can tell on the Internet.... RavShimon (talk) 20:58, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Good work spotting that broken reference! You have an excellent eye for detail. Also, is it ok to call you "Faiz" for short, or do you have another preference? We seem to have developed a fairly effective working group at this article, with cooperative effort we should be able to bring it up to GA quality. Doc Tropics 21:40, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the praise (always welcome) and for your suggestion (also welcome). I had intended to include the "fact" tags where needed (some sentences had several refs so didn't need tagging), but I was inconsistent and missed several; I'll be more careful next time.
On a personal note, I saw your userboxes which indicate your interest in alternative energy. Maybe you'd be interested to know that my wife and I are making plans to build a small "energy farm" in the U.S. state of Texas. This will inlcude one or more large Wind turbines to generate clean electric power, as well as a facility for the production of Biodiesel fuel. While still in the planning stages, we are very serious and hope to begin construction in about 3 years. That's what I spend most of my time on when I'm not editing WP. Thanks again Faiz! Imam Ali

Salam Alaykum,

I've noticed to Imam Ali(PBUH) article and talk page and found you have made some edits and added some comments. I reverted some of the editions due to their contradiction with wikipedia policies. I put the reason of my editions in the summary and you can find them in history. As an editor who put a lot of time on the article and a knowledgeable person, I hope I can help with improving the article. However, I don't have enough time. Please put a comment in my talk page if you disagree with my editions. In addition, you can find some good suggestions here.--Seyyed(t-c) 11:30, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Salam alaykum.

In accordance with this guideline and as you can find in most of the good Islamic articles we add Hadith just for clarification. I don't understand why do you put them between "--!> --<" or removed them. We also use [non-primary source needed] whenever a secondary source is necessary.--Seyyed(t-c) 05:50, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Please check your mail and pay attention to my last post in the talk page of the article.--Seyyed(t-c) 06:25, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Please pay attention to this paragraph:

Ali himself was firmly convinced of his legitimacy for caliphate based on his close kinship with Muhammad, his intimate association and his knowledge of Islam and his merits in serving its cause. He told Abu Bakr that his delay in pledging allegiance (bay'ah) as caliph was based on his belief of his own prior title. Ali did not change his mind when he finally pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr and then to Umar and to Uthman but had done so for the sake of the unity of Islam, at a time when it was clear that the Muslims had turned away from him. This is what I found in several reliable sources. I tried to write it in a way which shows the historical fact, not Shia view. Then you changed it and added some unverified sentences: Ali himself was firmly convinced of his legitimacy for caliphate based on his close kinship with Muhammad, his intimate association and his knowledge of Islam and his merits in serving its cause. He told Abu Bakr that his delay in pledging allegiance (bay'ah) as caliph was based on his belief of his own prior title, Morever Ali was the only one who was appointed as caliph by Muhammad himself, and relating to this there are 3 verses in Sura-al Maida. Ali did not change his mind and he never pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr,Umar and Uthman but had helped them and that too for the sake of the unity of Islam, at a time when it was clear that the Muslims had turned away from him.

Now it is clearly Shia viewpoint, not historical facts. The sources don't support it. This section shows clearly what I mean. If you want to add something about Shia Tafsir such as al-MIzan, that section is not suitable position.--Seyyed(t-c) 06:58, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

That's good idea. As you may noticed I'm the guy who has written most of the articles. I can provides some more sources if it is necessary. However, I don't have access to good and reliable Sunni source. Thus I used online sources which may not reliable.--Seyyed(t-c) 08:04, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

RE:Tawheed in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

Thanks, I know about these hadith. The way they are understood differs among the Ashari and Athari schools of Sunni Islam. --pashtun ismailiyya 08:21, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Ali: Article cleanup and revamp

Dear editor,

Few of us have concluded that this article needs severe cleanup and revamp. Intial steps of this have been started and as of now are underway one task.

  • We'll take one task at time, have a review after its complition and move to another,
  • One or two members will do the actual task while others can do periodic review and correction,
  • Group of editors can take a task and devide it section wise between themselves
  • During this process any major revamp or re-writing of article will be avoided.

You are invited for this activity.

Thanks for the notification, and also for the "table" that you added to the talkpage; it will help us stay organized as we proceed. I'll continue going through the references, but squinting at the fine print gives me a headache if I work too long at one sitting, so it will take some time to review them all. As mentioned before, it's always a pleasure to work with bright well-educated editors, especially as this article is very challenging because of the complex history and many beliefs involved. Doc Tropics 16:09, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
I removed unverified information which I had mentioned in the talk page. Sa.vakilian 17:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Excuse me, The problem is adding unverified information in what were gathered and checked by several sources. I put a comment on the talk page and waited for a month, then remove those information.--Seyyed(t-c) 06:20, 25 April 2009 (UTC)--Seyyed(t-c) 06:20, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
