Proposed deletion of Omar Espinosa (musician)

edit

The article Omar Espinosa (musician) has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Page titles

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Soccerstar (EP album) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Soccerstar (and did the same with several other articles). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. EastEnders Character Pages

edit

Hello. I would like to remind you that we don't move EastEnders character pages to a new title when they get married. This also applies for characters who change their name. See WP:COMMONNAME for more information. Any people searching for Zainab Khan for example will be redirected to Zainab Masood. Thanks for your understanding. GSorbyPing! 21:25, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

then how come, Jane Beale, Dot Branning, have there name changed and there are many more, and secondly it shows there names as this on the credits

Think of it in this aspect. If you're having a discussion about EastEnders for example, would you say Jane Collins, or Jane Beale? To be honest, I can't see many people referring to Zainab as Zainab Khan. And about Dot, we're sorting this out at the moment as an ongoing discussion. This will probably be moved back to Dot Cotton soon enough. GSorbyPing! 21:31, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Okay but usually people start to call them by there married Zaniab Khan and Mandy Beale both seem like names you can say with out being odd but I do see your point, let me know if there are any changes Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 21:34, 19 December 2011 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 21:34, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Working on MCR member Wikipedia Pages

edit

Hi! Thanks for helping me make these pages :D

Yeah so for Bob's page, I know he didn't do some of the albums with MCR, but I've been leaving the discography as it was because if I delete the other albums then something happens to the references. Like a "cite error", as you probably notice. I guess we'll just have to find out how to get rid of that... that's not a big worry though.

In general do you happen to have any more ideas about what to include on/change about the pages?

Again, thanks again for helping! Tobeisto (talk) 22:47, 11 March 2012 (UTC)TobeistoReply

Yeah for Mikey well he met Alicia when he toured with From First To Last in 2005 for the christmassacre and she also toured with them and like Mikey played bass for them both in the same year to be percise, i think once Mikeys is accepted we should do Matt Pelisser's, if we can we can translate the spanish articles and get information from there. We could also add the extended plays, eps, and live albums to their discrography Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 17:22, 12 March 2012 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 17:22, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good idea, it does seem like the Spanish article has quite a bit. It sure wouldn't hurt to start one for Matt anyways. In terms of discography, I don't think Wikipedia likes if we were to put the band's entire discography on. ALTHOUGH I think if we were to just list them all (i.e. not have chart peaks; just have the name of the single, ep, etc) then it should be fine. I'll change it for now on, say, Ray's page to see how it looks.Tobeisto (talk) 20:01, 12 March 2012 (UTC)TobeistoReply

Okay great, i've added some references, sources and more. And once Mikeys is submitted we should start on the touring member "Michael Pedicone" but yeah one Mikeys is submitted or once Ray's is, i don't know about Bob's, and Matt's isn't complete yet. Hey somethings up with Mikeys page, any way can add this to his page "During 2005, Way was a touring member of American rock band From First To Last for the "Christmassacre" tour, due to the fact that bassist Jon Weisberg had left the band.[1] Way met his wife-to-be, bassist and fellow touring member Alicia Simmons, on this tour.[2]" Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 00:17, 17 March 2012 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 00:17, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Metalcore, hardcore, and screamo

edit

Hi, I saw your comment on the metalcore page, and thought that I'd reply. I'm by no means an expert, but I know the general differences. Hardcore punk is basically a harder, noisier, more abrasive form of punk. Metalcore is a combination of heavy metal, particularly extreme metal, with hardcore punk. Screamo nowadays is an almost meaningless term. It originally was an especially hard and abrasive form of emo (which originally was an abrasive and very emotive form of hardcore/post-hardcore), and used screamed vocals, hence the name. Nowadays it usually means almost any type of harder punk with screaming, and often means anything with screamed vocals, including metalcore and heavy metal. Hope that helps.--¿3family6 contribs 17:11, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ah i see so Metalcore is a heavier form of metal, Hardcore Punk a heavier form of Punk with screamed and Screamo heavier version of emo? Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 17:17, 23 April 2012 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 17:17, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sort of. Let me see if I can give you some background information. Hardcore punk and heavy metal are derivatives of rock. Those two genres are very general and encompass a HUGE variety of music. Hardcore punk is an abrasive form of punk rock with screamed vocals. What separates hardcore punk and heavy metal is that hardcore punk genres are generally more experimental and abrasive, while heavy metal is instrumentally heavier and more rigid stylistically. There are dozens of subgenres of hardcore punk (such as screamo, post-hardcore, and grunge to name a few). They all have distinct characteristics that identify them. Likewise, there are dozens of subgenres of heavy metal (such as death metal, power metal, alternative metal, etc). They each describe a specific type of music.
Ok, now to your specific question:
Metalcore is a modern fusion of both hardcore punk and heavy metal. Metalcore is known for its emphasis on breakdowns and heavy guitar riffs. Screamed vocals dominate metalcore. Singing is usually present, but the emphasis is on screamed vocals. A lot of bands that are casually referred to as "hardcore" or "metal" are actually metalcore bands. Metalcore has practically taken over the heavy metal music scene.
Screamo is one specific derivative form of hardcore punk. It has nothing to do with heavy metal. It denotes a fusion of hardcore punk and emo, generally featuring emotional lyrics, transitions from soft to heavy passages, and screamed vocals accompanied by more melodic singing. The word screamo is misused all the time. People often call any music with screaming in it "screamo". But screamo is actually only one specific genre. The genre itself is still very popular. There are lots of modern screamo bands that more-or-less still meet the same basic stylistic requirements of screamo.
Post-hardcore is a direct derivative of hardcore punk (hence the title post-hardcore). It simply defines any modern hardcore punk with high levels of experimentation. I know you didn't ask about this genre, but I felt it appropriate to mention. Post-hardcore represents a very wide range of musical styles. Post-hardcore bands may take influence from many other styles of music, and are often closely associated with alternative rock or punk. What identified post-hardcore, though, is the inclusion of hardcore punk elements like screamed vocals. If a band uses screamed vocals and heavy instrumentation, but is not heavy enough to be considered metalcore, then the band will often be labeled post-hardcore.

I hope this helps. :) The best way to become familiar with these different genres is to read the "Characteristics" section on their respective Wikipedia pages. It can be confusing to differentiate all these genres, but after a little while you'll be able to tell the difference pretty quickly. ChrisBkoolio ... (Talk) 17:46, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks that clearers it up alot, And yeah i know what Post-Hardcore means i guess in my opinion its Hardcore Punk but focuses on singing more then screamed vocals, but that clearers it up alot more thanks :) Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 17:56, 23 April 2012 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 17:56, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not to confuse things, but heavy metal is a form of punk? Unless you consider heavy metal starting with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, but even then, it was not a derivative of punk, but a fusion. NWOBHM groups like Iron Maiden took heavy metal and combined it with punk, but heavy metal was around way before punk. The original groups like Led Zepplin, Steppenwolf, Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly, Alice Cooper, Blue Öyster Cult, and the like were derivatives of hard rock and emerged from psychedelic rock or blues-rock, or both. Even if you argue that Black Sabbath is the only band in that list that is metal, they were around way before punk.--¿3family6 contribs 19:22, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Erm, idk I swear Metal was around before punk surely?, I mean Blues->RocknRoll->Rock->Metal/Punk->subgenres Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 19:54, 23 April 2012 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 19:54, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes.--¿3family6 contribs 23:41, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Lol, I'm sorry guys. That was an honest mistake. The rest of my explanation is pretty solid, though. Heavy metal did not originate with punk. I fixed it. :) --ChrisBkoolio ... (Talk) 02:10, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

No problem! I was a little weirded out there for a moment though.--¿3family6 contribs 11:05, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think saying metalcore has 'practically taken over the heavy metal musicscene' is strentching things a bit far tbh. There's plenty of new metal styles that have little or nothing to do with metalcore; such as djent bands like TesseracT and Textures, the current revival of thrash metal, (bands such as Evile and Gama Bomb) and the new 'dark metal' subgenre pioneered by bands like Agalloch. It's also not exactly 'modern' when you consider that bands have been playing in this style since the mid-90s.Metalcore basically started when you had hardcore punk bands that started incorporating elements from the more extreme metal subgenres, in particular; melodic death metal (bands like At The Gates, Suffocation, later Carcass), groove metal (bands like Pantera, Machine Head) and thrash metal, (bands like Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and earlier Metallica) into the hardcore punk roots they were already playing. (incidentally, thrash metal is also a fusion between metal and hardcore punk, as is groove metal.) Bands like Earth Crisis, Integrity, Converge, Hatebreed, and Shai Hulud amongst others pioneered this style. The term 'metalcore' is a contraction of 'metallic hardcore' which was the moniker originally applied to the genre. As for hardcore punk itself, that is basically just a faster, heavier (but not because its influenced by metal; playing 'heavy' does not automatically mean you are playing 'metal'), more abrasive form of punk rock. Musically, it's not that far removed from punk itself. Important bands include Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, etc. The term 'hardcore' is basically shorthand for this.JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 18:09, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ah i see, i think Iron Maiden and numerous others have kept Heavy Metal alive, tbh i like most of the genres, and thanks I fully understand the difference now Ericdeaththe2nd (talk) 20:13, 24 April 2012 (UTC)ericdeaththe2ndEricdeaththe2nd (talk) 20:13, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Steriogram.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Steriogram.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 19:04, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

As per Wikipedia's 'golden rule' the subject of an article needs multiple independent, reliable sources that talk about the subject in-depth. Your article only has one source, which appears to be some mentions in a book about MCR. I'm surprised there isn't a little bit about each of the lesser known band members in the My Chemical Romance article itself. Maybe something should be added there, considering he seems to have left under a cloud! Sionk (talk) 16:23, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Mikahoriuchi2.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mikahoriuchi2.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 02:30, 25 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Until the actual rightsholder (which in this case is probably Mr. Allen) goes through and contacts Wikipedia to give permission, the image has to be considered non-free, and will be replaceable since he's a living person. I know it's a pain, but Wikipedia is so large and public that we have to take copyright issues pretty seriously. For more information about getting permission to use a copyrighted image, check out Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. (ESkog)(Talk) 18:53, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
    • Hey I just want to let you know I work on the team that handles image permission issues so we can get that photo uploaded! Feel free to ask me for clarifications at any time if you need them. Or if I've quit or died or I'm slow responding or whatever, you can ask at WP:MCQ. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:57, 28 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:CaughtCheating.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:CaughtCheating.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:10, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jacky Vincent

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jacky Vincent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Beerest355 Talk 23:28, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Mika Horiuchi

edit

Hello Ericdeaththe2nd. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Mika Horiuchi".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Mika Horiuchi}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 06:01, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
