US vs. UK spellings

edit

Hi! Always nice to see a new face at Wikipedia - I hope you enjoy your time here. I'm posting this here to comment on your recent changes to High IQ society. It is Wikipedia convention where there is a spelling choice difference between US, UK, and other countries' varieties not to change to another variety without a good reason (see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English). 'Organisation' is an accepted spelling, and Wikipedia aims to be an international encyclopedia. It's not a big deal, but I thought I should mention it as some people are likely to be annoyed if you change 'organisation' to 'organization' in every article. wife becoming a wikipedian

Well, I am not the expert on motivating people, but a wise father once tried to motivate me by not giving me dinner. Then requiring me to pay if I did eat. or if I didn't. Maybe you could try that.  :)

You are right, the code you put in was for the composite rule, so it was a different code. An edit summary may be useful when adding things to clarify what you do. :) Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 23:57, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry if I sounded a little offstandish in my comment. I went back and read my comment and realized it could have sounded demeaning to you. I really should have put in a comment when I made the edit. Thanks for being meticulous Epachamo 03:16, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tueeulala Falls?

edit

Your image image:HetchHetchyWaterfall.jpg has shown up at Hetch Hetchy Valley, labeled as Tueeulala Falls. However, it does not appear at Tueeulala Falls. Is this actually the subject of the image? I've placed your talk page on my watchlist, so you may reply right here, to keep the discussion all in one place. --Smack (talk) 05:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I actually didn't put that label there. I didn't know that the falls did have a name when I posted it. My brother took the picture during spring runoff, so it very well could be a different waterfall. I will ask him the next time I see him if he knows the name of the falls. License tagging for File:Interior of Paris Idaho Tabernacle.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Interior of Paris Idaho Tabernacle.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Richard Turley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The Tanners

edit

I'd like your opinion of these edits removing them as sources.[1] Thanks. Doug Weller talk 15:50, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Good question. I think Geneva11 went WAY overboard. The Tanner's are extremely polarizing and critics more than scholars, but they were the first to publish and critically analyze so much in LDS history, so it's hard to ignore them. They are notable enough that even though they are self published, their work is recognized, read, and responded to. The Wikipedia article on them gives a fair assessment IMHO. I think virtually all of the content deleted by Geneva11 should not have been, and that acceptable sources can be found. At the very least it could be prefaced with, "Jerald and Sandra Tanner state..." Epachamo (talk) 03:27, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I'm concerned about quite a few of her edits. Doug Weller talk 16:25, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. The Tanners are clearly scholars and produced a considerable amount of accurate research . Your agenda is showing very clearly by your edits. I'd suggest you list yourself as a mormon apologist in your profile. Eudiamonia5 (talk) 12:58, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • @Eudiamonia5: Again, in this section I am literally advocating that the "content deleted by Geneva11 should not have been". This "content" was research done by the Tanners. I try and be NPOV as possible. The Tanners definitely have done a lot of good research, but virtually all of their stuff is self-published and with a self-proclaimed critical bent. It's not a criticism against them personally or their views. Epachamo (talk) 15:14, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Got it. I am comming up to speed on the contributor side of wikipedia and how these message board even work. I didn't even know what NPOV meant until 5 minutes ago. Thanks for your comments. Eudiamonia5 (talk) 17:34, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cosmo The Cougar: Removal of Past Cosmos

edit

Hi. I was wondering what type of research you actually did on this subject before you went ahead and deleted names from the wiki page...? Can you even verify that YOU are a former Cosmo yourself before you make this justification? I can tell you that at least 3 of the people that you deleted can be verified as a former Cosmo and should not have been deleted. That is just from the very brief look I had at the removed names. Regardless of if you were a past Cosmo or not, maybe you should do some actual research into things before you go ahead and try to remove the history of the mascot. Though I'm sure if you weren't a past Cosmo yourself you wouldn't be able to get access to any of this information anyways, so maybe you should let the people actually working as his boss and coordinator do these kinds of edits. For the record, there is a video on YouTube of Cosmo's 50th birthday celebration where MANY of the Cosmos that you deleted from the list are actually recognized IN PERSON at a BYU home basketball game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DidYouEvenResearchThis? Speedy deletion nomination of Rocket.Chat

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rocket.Chat requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
