Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Request reason:
Dear reader. As a music enthousiast, I wanted to start tributing to Wikipedia by adding and editing content, specifically for the Netherlands and the Dutch music scene. I thought it would be a good start to create an article on Dutch punkrock band Drunktank, and didn't really have inspiration for a username. So I used their bandname in my username. I am in no way, shape or form paid or compensated by anyone for editing and contributing to Wikipedia (I have a 9 to 5 office job). I also did not intend to use the page as promotion or advertising for the aforementioned band. If the content leads you to believe otherwise, please tell me what needs to be changed. Though I can see why the block was put on my account, I would like to ask you kindly to reconsider. Kind regards, Bart. DrunktankChair (talk) 07:29, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

You wrote in your sandbox "We created this account to build a Wikipedia page for Dutch skatepunt metal band Drunktank". Who is we? Only a single person should have exclusive access to this account. You also declared a conflict of interest with regards to Drunktank, what is the general nature of it? 331dot (talk) 13:10, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi 331dot,
That 'we' had to be an 'I'. I was a bit confused about the sign-in process for Wikipedia and the way I had to create an account, so I probably made some syntactic mistakes. I see I've also misspelled 'skatepunk' for instance. During setup, I probably clicked on something I shouldn't have, creating the conflict of interest-message you saw. I tried to undo that, but I couldn't find where I could do that. DrunktankChair (talk) 16:46, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
You still did not answer 331dot's question. What is the nature of your relationship with Drunktank, since you declared a conflict of interest? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:42, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Drm310,
Sorry about that. As to my relationship with Drunktank, I know a couple of the band members. However, I'm not in any way paid by the band, or aiming to write an article promoting them. Like I said, I'm a music enthousiast with a main focus on Dutch punk rock. On Wikipedia, that catalogue already contains contemporary bands like March and Antillectual, from whom I also know a couple of the band members. The Dutch punk rock scene is not that huge, so after a couple of years you get to know quite a few people. DrunktankChair (talk) 05:52, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. You have "chair" in your username, are you the chairperson of something, like a fan club? 331dot (talk) 08:22, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi 331dot,
No, I'm not a chairman of any sorts. And as far as I can find out about them, the band doesn't have an official fanclub. DrunktankChair (talk) 10:54, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, sounds like just a simple conflict of interest because of your personal relationship with the band members. I'm satisfied that you are not a paid editor. I'm not an admin but I'd say your unblock request has good chance of being accepted.
Please be aware that Wikipedia has notability criteria for article topics. Not everything merits inclusion in Wikipedia; topics have to already have significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources to be considered worthy of inclusion. In the specific case of musicians/bands, there are refined notability criteria for musicians. Unfortunately, your draft article about this band has been declined because these criteria were not met. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:03, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Drm310,
Thanks for the reply and the link to the notability criteria. If my account gets unblocked, I'll edit my draft accordingly. Question though: is it simply a matter of posting drafts and seeing if they get accepted as far as pages go, or is there some kind of more interactive way where you can get tips and pointers from already experienced users?
