North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball
Thanks for the great work expanding the notable players section in North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball. I've wanted to do something like that but never had the time, diligence or brain organization. Great work! Mosmof (talk) 09:55, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
1988 Giro
Hi, I saw that you have been busy on the 1988 Giro article. Great! I don't know if you are still planning to improve it, but in case you want, some sources:
- Andy Hampsten and the 1988 Pink Jersey (velonews)
- Giro 1988: Andy's Epic Day (pezcycling)
- Preview and short explanation of bonification times (el mundo deportivo)
- More complete results (el mundo deportivo)
From that last source, you can see that there are a few secondary classifications that you did not add yet:
- Intermediate sprints classification (metas volantes)
- Combativity classification (combatividad)
- Special sprints classification (sprints especiales)
- Combination classification (combinada)
I saw that you took the explanation for the jerseys from a 2008 article, but this might not be that accurate for 1988... It is still correct as far as I know: the general classification, mountains classification and points classification are correct based on information in the sources above. The young riders classification was awarded a white jersey, as seen in photos. ([1]) But you missed one jersey: the leader of the combination classification wore a blue jersey. Hampsten wore it in the 14th stage before he captured the lead. I don't know if the other classifications awarded jerseys.
I don't mean to force you to work on anything, but I thought you might be interested. If you are not, just ignore it, and maybe once I'll take the time to put it in the article myself. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 18:31, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- There are more online newspapers, but El Mundo Deportivo is the best one I found for sports. The Gazetta is not online, unfortunately, neither is L'Equipe... I know the tour-giro-vuelta website that you gave, but as far as I know it is public, and I have never needed a password for anything. In my experience, it is good for a starting point, but if you want to make it a Good Article, I don't think it satisfies the Reliable Source criterion. If you still want it, the frame for the general results if [2], for example.
- In my opinion, all classifications that awarded jerseys should be in the leadership table, unless there is a good reason not to do it, so I would add the combination classification.
- I know that in some years, the intermediate sprints classification also used a jersey. But I really don't know if 1988 was one of those years... --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 18:40, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- I've asked some experts about that image. By the way: the images that you uploaded (see message below) are non-free, and can not be used in Wikipedia articles due to copyright issues. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 06:08, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
- They are sure the blue jersey in 1988 was for the combination classification. Nobody knows for sure if the intergiro (intermediate sprints) classification also awarded a jersey in that year, but probably not. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 17:25, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Giro d'Italia maps
Hi, I seem to have missed the message you left me on 7 February about the Giro maps... Anyway: what I would advise:
- Install inkscape (or a similar program, but inkscape is free)
- Find an empty map of the region that you want to use (for example File:Map of Italy blank.svg, or other maps in commons:Maps of Italy)
- Find out what the route was
- Draw this route on the empty map
- Upload your map on commons
You may want to talk to User:Andrei loas, who does an amazing job on the Tour maps. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 13:04, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Re:1988 Giro
I don't think I'll be able to have a look at it tonight, but I'm sure I'll have a look at it no later than tomorrow evening if that is suitable? Craig(talk) 21:56, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Excellent news. :) Craig(talk) 22:35, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Just had a look at the first part of the article, but you're giving the same information twice in two sentences, isn't that too much? "Second and third respectively were the Dutchman Erik Breukink and the Swiss rider, Urs Zimmermann. For the third time in the history of the Giro, the final podium was occupied by foreign riders (Breukink was Dutch and Zimmerman was Swiss)." Telling the readers twice that they're from Holland and Switzerland. LindaSportGirl (talk) 23:55, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome, the rest looks pretty good to me by the way. LindaSportGirl (talk) 08:26, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

- Apologies for not getting round to this today like I said; the unexpected name changes of two teams threw a spanner in the works, plus the start of Wimbledon...I can see a few things that may need to be altered; whether it is after sorting all the Garmin links or tomorrow, it would be within 24 hours though... Craig(talk) 22:15, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- Should be done with my involvement; it may need sources on my additions, but it should be enough in general. Craig(talk) 14:13, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
May as well put this here...I'll hopefully give it a check over at some point within the next 24 hours! Craig(talk) 02:18, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- All the translations where possible done; only a couple or so missed. Also, you may need to create an article for Robert Forest; his page linked to something completely different! Craig(talk) 00:08, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- For the Spanish and Italian titled sources; I really should have specified that! Best check the name on the Forest article again...bit in bold. Hint! ;) Craig(talk) 00:24, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi!
Great to see someone else is writing about cycling! I added a bit to the Alberto Contador article after you, what do you think? The additions you made were great. Also, this Vuelta is just an amazing race! I was a bit sad for Rodriguez today. Anyway, glad to "meet" you :) Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 03:37, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- I agree the Riis citation sounds like a filler, it had just struck me when he said that. "Not wanting to put any pressure, but you have to win" lol. I guess I'll take it out when I add something. I'll be kinda "busy" with the 2012 Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, I'll be on the sidewalk cheering them tomorrow :P. Can't wait to see Peter Sagan in person. Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 02:14, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Just added to Alberto Contador (about the 2012 Vuelta) and threw out the Riis quote while I was at it, feel free to tweak my grammar. I won't bug you with all my edits, but since this is rated as a "good article", a second "check" may be needed. I don't want to ruin it :P. Poor Rodriguez, he lost the points jersey on the last day, what a heartbreaker... Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 05:11, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello, I have reviewed the GA nomination of this article and have placed it on hold pending resolution of some concerns. You may find them at the review page. Regards, Resolute 00:10, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Nice job with the fixes. I have now listed the article as a GA. Congrats! Resolute 00:11, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
And now 1987! Like above, only a few smallish issues to resolve. Cheers! Resolute 00:55, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

List of North Carolina Tar Heels in the NFL Draft
Looks good on the list, I've added my support for its promotion. Just note that I made one further comment about Tome Burnette and the BB vs. QB thing, but as I noted there, I think either option works, so I'll let you decide what one you prefer and add my voice of support before forget. Good job and good luck. Ravendrop 02:55, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- I think the B/FB would be most appropriate considering the sourcing you've found. I'm not an expert on the game at the time, but being the leading rusher seems to suggest that he wasn't, in fact, a quarterback. The source saying BB might have simply been a typo, as I originally thought it was when I first viewed the article. Ravendrop 06:36, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
World Tour articles
At present, I've not really thought about having the GAN and GAR going yet; in fact, it's hardly came across my mind while doing them, but that may have been due to the fact that I've been concentrating on double-duty with Paris-Nice and Tirreno going on at the same time (boy, does the text labour sometimes when doing two in one)! Craig(talk) 01:12, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- I put last year's Dauphiné up for GA around two months ago, but still nowt yet. Shame really. I know, it's hard work when you put your mind to it. Most of it, I've written by seeing about ten kilometres of each stage. There's been 21 stages on the WT so far (6 in Australia, 7 at Tirreno and 8 at Paris-Nice)...I've seen five. Laughable really! Craig(talk) 23:28, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- I usually use YouTube to catch up with the stages I do miss, but mostly it's only around 30 minutes of coverage as a maximum. It isn't good, but it suffices. Looking at the World Tour ahead; I'll be able to see Milan–San Remo on Sunday...then two stages of Volta a Catalunya, Gent–Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders for the rest of the month. But I'd only be doing the reports for Volta anyway; I like the one-day Classics, but I can't for the life of me, sit down and do the reports. Craig(talk) 22:16, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- What like is the NBC coverage? I know it's usually Roll-Sherwen off-tube commentating on the races, but it's more expansive for the Tour when they get Liggett in. Or, that's how I remember it when the races were on Versus a few years back when I was watching in Canada on TSN2! Craig(talk) 22:35, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
- Liam McHugh... oh god. Seen him on the network's ice hockey coverage... Way out of his depth in cycling! Craig(talk) 19:38, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I've reviewed this article, and placed it on hold pending some small prose fixes. Fine work, as always! I noticed your good topic project, and all I can say is damn. That is one ambitious effort. I wish you the best of luck at it! Resolute 23:28, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Team classifications in Giro 1909 to 1911
I have been searching for information about how the team classification was calculated in the Giri 1909 to 1911, hoping to add this before the GA reviews, but I did not find it. I now strongly suggest that there was no team classification in those years, and that the 'winning teams' that are listed now, are simply the teams of the GC winners, added later on to make the lists complete. It is hard to find evidence that something did not exist. There are indeed sources that say that Atala won the team classification in 1909 (for example source 6, Bike Race Info) but I suspect that these sources are all copying the same mistake. The first year where I know for sure that there was a separate team classification was 1930 (apart from 1912). I am mentioning this to you, not because I want you to remove the team winners from the 1909 to 1929 articles, but to warn you that it is difficult to find information on this. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 17:36, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Greg LeMond photo "ALT" text?
Hi. In reviewing the talk page of Greg LeMond I noticed a comment you left, "And you can't forget the alt text for the photos if you want this to go to FA status." What does that mean? Thanks. joepaT 19:11, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
- Perfect explanation on my talk-page, DW. Thanks! Short but succinct. I understand now and appreciate your taking the time to check in w/ me on this.
- I saw your to-do/checklist, and it looks like you've got some ambitious goals for your own editing, but if you have time and you want to work on the Greg LeMond article, GBD and I could certainly use the help! I think we could really benefit from someone else - a third party - taking a look at the FA-class reviewers' comments in that archive (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/Greg_LeMond/archive1) and ensuring that we've addressed their individual concerns. I've tried to find people to participate in the peer-review process, but so far w/o luck. Cheers! joepaT 22:56, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- I again responded to your reply on my talk page but thought i'd drop a note here so you were sure to see it. in short, "I understand," "your input is always welcome/appreciated," and "good luck w/ your projects!" lol... Cheers joepaT 19:04, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Grand Tour trifecta
You know, I hadn't given it much thought since about a week after posting on the talk page. I'm still up for doing such a list; I'm just going to have to find some time in a busy schedule for it (which will no doubt happen), and the methods in which to do the list! Craig(talk) 20:32, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- My original section title of List of riders with stage wins at all three cycling Grand Tours was the best I could come up with at the time, but I haven't thought about improving it, in some form. As long as it is under 256 characters, I don't think Wikipedia will frown upon it too much! Some of the world championship result pages have more characters I believe. If indeed it does become too lengthy, we can always amend at a later date. Yeah, those columns sound about right. Don't want to overload with columns too much. We can always add riders, who had clean sweeps from the pre-Giro era (1903 to 1906) or the pre-Vuelta era (1903 to 1934) into sections elsewhere on the page; but we can do that if need be, after the list is complete.
- There are a total of 84 riders who have done the hat-trick; I remember seeing a list with them all before, but I don't know if it is still online... or accurate! Craig(talk) 16:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- It was that very article, splendid! 82 from that article, before someone else (which has escaped me at present) and Marcel Kittel today. I had previously forgotten about the calendar year one, so absolutely add that one as well. Which sandbox should we use for storing all this information? Craig(talk) 17:10, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- If you have seen sports-reference being used on previous lists, I'm inclined to go with you on that one. I've got a few cycling books that we can possibly use; I've got one on Eddy Merckx and one on Mark Cavendish, plus I have a Giro d'Italia book too, if that can cover off some references? Craig(talk) 18:17, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- I've got the Merckx book in front of me right now. In the section of his major victories, it's broken down by year. The stages are listed by date however, so we may need to reference the whole section... Surprisingly no complete total in it... However, through arithmetic, it states he has 65 Grand Tour stage wins... The difference relates to the 1968 Giro. The book states 4, with him gaining one after Gianni Motta's results were voided apparently. Hmm... Craig(talk) 18:33, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- Might have to be resolved with a footnote that one, though... VeloNews does state 25 Giro stage wins, in this article (which would result in a 65 total), while Cycling Weekly state 24. Ugh! Craig(talk) 18:52, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- And of course, Contador and Piepoli losing their hat-tricks through doping infractions. This will be time-consuming, but worth it in the end! Craig(talk) 19:03, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

- Hi, I noticed you were working on this list: here is a list of all 83 cyclists that did this. (And the two cyclists who once were on the list but not anymore after doping infractions, Contador and Zabriskie. Piepoli is not mentioned there.) This website is really accurate, but probably not RS, but it might help you to make sure that you didn't miss anything. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 09:50, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Minor differences
-
- Miguel Poblet, 26 or 25? (Current wiki article has one giro stage fewer, his own article agrees to 26)
- Julio Jimenez, 11 or 12? (Current wiki article has one tour stage fewer, his own article agrees to 12)
- Andre Greipel, 10 or 11? (Current wiki article has one tour stage fewer, his own article agrees to 11)
- Joaquin Rodriguez, 10 or 11? (Current wiki article has one vuelta stage fewer, his own article agrees to 11)
- Lucien Van Impe, 10 or 11? (Current wiki article has one tour stage fewer, his own article agrees to 11)
- Philippe Gilbert, 6 or 7? (Current wiki article has one vuelta stage fewer, his own article agrees to 7)
- Simon Gerrans, 3 or 4? (Current wiki article has one tour stage fewer, his own article agrees to 4)
- I hope this helps.--EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 10:12, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Now we have sources disagreeing with 83 or 84 riders. This really is a can of worms! Ugh. Craig(talk) 12:03, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- I think it is not that bad... 86 cyclists were declared winner in a stage of all three races, I think that is pretty easy to verify. Some cyclists had a stage removed because of doping; that is (strangely enough) sometimes a little bit more difficult to find good sources for, but that should also be doable. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 16:09, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- I fixed the riders you mentioned Edge. I think I should remove Contador because I don't believe he has any Giro victories since his doping scandal, which would put the list total at 85. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 16:46, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Contador has only competed in one Italian stage race since his ban; Tirreno in 2013 and 2014. So that's a definite no for Contador. But may be one for a section that we could have for active riders with 2 parts of the hat-trick? Craig(talk) 16:51, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah someone removed him, or I didn't place him in there. Also while going through the cyclists David Zabriske prompted an issue since a lot of his stuff was voided for doping. Also Tyler Hamilton for the same issue. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 16:57, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'd imagine the 83/84 relates to the Zabriskie situation. Mainstream media have forgotten about the expunging of results, causing the number fluctuation... Craig(talk) 17:49, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

- I was hoping there'd be an article after Kittel completed it two days ago that had the right, official number. It looks good right now though, I'll work on adding some prose to the lead. What exactly did you mean by clean sweeps from the Pre-Vuelta&Giro eras? I'm also gonna look into riders that have won a stage in each race for the calendar year. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 00:01, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Basically, riders that won stages of both the Giro and the Tour, prior to the Vuelta becoming the third GT in 1937. I'm probably overcomplicating things now, so I'll put that idea on the backburner. Craig(talk) 01:18, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oh okay, yeah I got ya now. I think I got all the riders with a win in each tour in the same year. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 01:20, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Would Cycling Hall of Fame or Memoire du Cyclisme be RS for the riders' palmares? Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 04:52, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- I've never used either, to be fair. So my opinion is very moot for that one! Craig(talk) 07:29, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay well I think Memoire might be more reliable than Cycling Hall of Fame, but we'd need confirmation on what is RS before we put the effort into sourcing it all. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 16:49, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

FA congratulations
Just a quick note to congratulate you on the promotion of 1988 Giro d'Italia to FA status recently. If you would like to see this (or any other FA) appear as "Today's featured article" soon (either on a particular date or on any available date), please nominate it at the requests page. If you'd like to see an FA appear on a particular date in the next year or so, please add it to the "pending" list. In the absence of a request, the article may end up being picked at any time (although with about 1,297 articles waiting their turn at present, there's no telling how long – or short! – the wait might be). If you'd got any TFA-related questions or problems, please let me know. BencherliteTalk 18:27, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

For your impeccable additions and contributions to The Godfather. You've made that article infinitely better in a short time. Corvoe (speak to me) 18:27, 16 July 2014 (UTC) |
What to expect
The intended result following lengthy round-and-round circular reasoning by a particular editor is that you will eventually throw up your hands and walk away. And once more, his place as "owner" of the article will again be proven. It's a game to him. One that he's been allowed to play and win over and over. -- Winkelvi ● ✉ ✓ 22:37, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Winkelvi: Yeah I can only expect the worst after looking over some of the past incidents he's been involved in, but I'm gonna go in with an open mind. I just believe that the majority of what I added was relevant, not poorly done and should have been removed by him, copy-edited in some areas yes. Or atleast I believe my writing isn't too bad; it's not as bad as he makes it seem, right? Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 23:00, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
No, overall, your edits are fine. -- Winkelvi ● ✉ ✓ 23:02, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Noticeboard discussion
Because your name was mentioned, I am notifying you of a current discussion at the 3RR Noticeboard that might be of interest to you (see here:[3]) -- Winkelvi ● ✉ ✓ 19:18, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
I was going to copyedit this one today, the writing seems really good. I'll keep an eye out for it next time it hits FAC. - Dank (push to talk) 14:53, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Giro
Hey Disc Wheel, sorry to see Giro wasn't promoted because of a lack of commentary. I encourage you to seek out any ways to improve the article you can, and renominate in two weeks or so. ceranthor 13:35, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Just sending this to let you know that your article has been promoted to good article status. PointsofNoReturn (talk) 18:49, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
Yuta Watanabe GA?
Hello,
I believe you have promoted more than a few articles to good article status. I've worked hard in making the Yuta Watanabe page high quality, and I would really appreciate it if you could review it. Temple of the Mousy (talk) 17:11, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Jollj Ceramica
Hi, I know that bikeraceinfo.com and cyclingarchives gives the team name as Jolly Ceramica, but that is clearly a mistake, and I don't think we should maintain that typo in any articles. Check for example the promo image here or this jersey image. The name is clearly Jollj with a j, and we should correct this mistake. JudoonCyclist (talk) 19:20, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
1974 Giro d'Italia
[4] you took out stuff that made the ref better?
The main purpose of my edit was to correct the duplicate parameter error: the template had duplicate |author=
fields, so I removed Maurizio Caravella, as his name is not given in the source (the La Stampa article is credited to Gianni Pignata). I also removed format=PDF
, as the source is not a PDF. I removed |publisher=
, as there is no need to state the publisher if the name of the newspaper is already given, especially if it is a major newspaper (though I won't object if you really want to put that one back in). --NSH002 (talk) 16:58, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Comment on Giro 1985
I will maybe review your GA nomination here in the next few days. So far, there is only one thing I noticed: You missed to mention the fact that former race leader Visentini dropped out of the race due to an illness. That should definitely be in there. Cheers! Zwerg Nase (talk) 13:01, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Zwerg Nase: Thanks man! I've added a sentence about him withdrawing, but I was unable to find any sources that mention it being due to illness. Anywho, I may be a little delayed in responding since I'm now back at school but I'll do my best to make sure that I check the nomination atleast once a day. I really appreciate you reviewing my articles man! Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 05:17, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
DYK for 1986 Giro d'Italia
On 26 March 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1986 Giro d'Italia, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the 1986 Giro d'Italia was won by Roberto Visentini? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1986 Giro d'Italia. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Boat Race review
The Running Man Barnstar | ||
Hey Disc Wheel, just a quick barnstar to say thanks for the review of one of Boat Race articles you conducted over the past year. As of this morning, I completed my (initial) goal of ensuing that every Boat Race had, not only its own article, but one that was either of GA or FA status: we now have 158 GAs and 3 FAs that we can all be proud of! It doesn't stop here, for me at least, I'm going to keep up with improving the quality of the GAs and look for more FA opportunities. Plus, there's the small matter of 70 Women's Boat Race articles to get up and running! But thanks again, I couldn't have done it without your help. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:51, 16 April 2015 (UTC) |
Merckx
Nice job on the Merckx article. Are you planning to take it to FA? I noticed that you uploaded some photos of him. How did you come to license commons:File:Eddy Merckx Tour de France 1971.jpg and commons:File:Eddy Merckx Blois.jpg under CC0 1.0? BaldBoris 16:46, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- @BaldBoris: I appreciate it; I plan on atleast getting it to GA, but my interest in editing is as a whole waning. As for the pictures, I literally have no idea what I'm doing when I upload them; I know the Dutch Archives are free to use from what I've seen and I found them on the same site as the other two that I uploaded. I guess I forgot to add the Dutch archive thing like I did to the other photos (commons:Eddy Merckx Amstel Gold Race 1975.jpg & commons:File:Eddy Merckx 1973 Olympic Stadium.jpg) Disc Wheel (T + C) 16:58, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- Also a belated congrats on the FA for Tom, glad to see it receive that bronze star it deserved.
- I know what you're saying, you just have to believe that there's people out there benefiting from all the work. I meant there's no mention of a CC license on the pages [5] [6]. Think they'll need to be deleted. Any way... I'm to try and see what I can do with the 86 TdF. I'm using all your Giros as examples. I see you found where the team presentation took place on some; where would I find that for it. Also for the route table shall I just have plain and with mountains as I can't find a source saying which is flat or hilly. BaldBoris 17:15, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- @BaldBoris:Oh I see what you mean, yeah I'll take them out of the article now then; picture rights are always too confusing. I know what you mean, I saw that the Merckx page has been getting over a 1000 views the past few days so that makes me feel pretty good; but IRL I've got things I should be doing instead of this so I need to step away pretty soon.
- As for the 86 Tour: the Tour may be easier than the Giros, as there are hardly any English sources for the Giros, but I don't know I haven't really put in work on a Tour article before. Finding the team presentation location can be a pain; the first time (for the 88 Giro) I found it while typing out an article that was previewing the race and then put it in a translator to read in English. On the other hand, some were easier as they just mentioned it in the route listing (i.e. 1991). Typically you can find it mentioned in a race preview article that comes on the day of the race starting or the days leading up. The best bet is to check various newspaper sources in the days leading up to the race, which can be time consuming unfortunately.
- For the stages, I'd say doing the generic plain and stage with mountains is the way to go unless you have a source that does use the terms directly; Edge pointed it out to me when I was building up my first article. I'd say check out l'Unita's archives in the days before the race to see if there is a page that covers the route and where it lists the categorized climbs (like this) - so you can just use the stage with mountains for the stages that contain the categorized climbs; that's what I do atleast. If you have any other questions, I'm glad to help. Disc Wheel (T + C) 17:56, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Looks like I'll have to get my search on then. BaldBoris 18:13, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- @BaldBoris: I'll see what I can do to help out wherever. I kinda wanna see this article do well since it's the first American Tour victory, which was my main motive behind the 88 Giro. If I ever make edits, would you prefer me to make it to the standing article or your sandbox? I'm kinda in the editing mood right now so there might be some activity on the page next time you see it. Disc Wheel (T + C) 03:02, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- That's good to hear, two's better than one. Go for it. My sandbox is just for messing around. BaldBoris 03:40, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

- @BaldBoris:I've looked through l'Unita and La Stampa's online archives a little to get a better picture of the route, but neither really go into detail like they do with the Giro which makes sense when you think about it. Edge did a lot of the grunt work for this article which is nice, atleast the data entry part is out of the way. This article may be of some use [7] Disc Wheel (T + C) 03:46, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
