Welcome to the Films Project
editHey, welcome to WikiProject Films! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of films, awards, festivals, filmmaking, and film characters. If you haven't already, please add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your user page.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Most of our important discussions about the project itself and its related articles take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter. The newsletter for June has been published. July's issue is currently in production; it will be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There is a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Want to jump right into editing? The style guidelines show things you should include.
- Want to assist in some current backlogs within the project? Visit the Announcements template to see how you can help.
- Want to see some great film article examples? Head on over to the spotlight department.
- Want to know how good our articles are? Our assessment department has rated the quality of the majority of film article in Wikipedia. Check it out!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! AnmaFinotera
I have partially reverted your edits at this article, as IMDB is not considered a reliable source at Wikipedia. If you have any questions about this revert, just respond here. Thanks. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:13, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about not adding a summary (I will do that in all future edits) and no more IMDb sources. I'll read the guidelines thoroughly first before making any more edits. Thanks for the welcome and help! :-) ~dee 16:09, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Ace of Base has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.myspace.com/aceofbase.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Are external links (in the External Links section--not the body of the article) to OFFICIAL MySpace pages allowed for bands (esp. when they don't have an official website)? ~dee 12:29, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. Fine. Just keep the external links to a minimum; maybe 2 or 3. Policy is WP:EL - a MySpace site does meet that policy. They cannot, of course, be used as reliable sources. Chzz ► 12:46, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Merci beaucoup, Chzz! ~dee 12:55, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello Deed89, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I deleted Xx Faktor, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct criterion is used. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Courcelles 06:18, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
- No problem; we see candidates for adminship that don't know the criteria from each other. In this case, you were absolutely right about the page being speedable. Trust me, once you've deleted thousands of pages- or in Fastily's case tens of thousands- the criteria become much more a part of your memory! Courcelles 07:16, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Discover coorg
editHello Deed89. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Discover coorg, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to books. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 15:57, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- No probelm. If you are going to do New Page Patrol, which is a good and useful thing to do, it is worth reading WP:CSD carefully; and there is good advice from an experienced admin at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 16:57, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

editHi & thx for your message! Yeah definitely! I think the best place to go for info is their website. Plus he's done tons and tons and tonsssss of interviews. Do you have the article in your sandbox or something? I'd love to help writing it. Cheers! 62.212.66.205 (talk) 11:58, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

editSince you care about saving articles from speedy deletion do you think you can help me save an article from getting deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kip 78 (talk • contribs) 14:50, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to try as long as the article is worthy. There are many articles tagged for deletion I do not "care" about saving . ;-) ~dee 14:59, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- NVM, I just went through your contributions and I suppose you're referring to Kevin feng since it's the only article you created and is currently tagged for deletion. I don't know who this person is, but looking at the deletion discussion page...apparently, you have to prove he is notable outside the game show he participated in. Well, there's no way you can do that unless he is notable outside the game show. ~dee 15:05, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
He's a PUA like many other PUAs that have pages on Wikipedia. Would you like me to type out a list of all the PUAs on Wikipedia who have maybe even less media coverage than Feng? I did include plenty of secondary resources that show him as a new PUA working alongside more established PUAs including The Asian Playboy, so I fail to see how he is only notable for being on TV show. Kip 78 (talk) 15:31, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- No need for the list, I'll take your word for it. Perhaps it would be a better idea to check with the editors of all those other "PUA" pages you mentioned since they have already managed to keep their articles up with fewer resources! I'm not particularly experienced in this niche; admittedly, it is not a topic that interests me at all (but I might give it a shot). Further, I feel as though your comments would be better off on the deletion discussion page where other editors can see them. You don't want to convince me, you want to convince them. ~dee 19:42, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

editDear Dee, re your comment at Talk:The Division Bell: may I ask you to consider what the actual dispute is about: not whether to include the quote at all but how to present it. Speedy tagging
editHi. Thanks for tagging Donald I. "Sarge" Boyd just now - I have deleted it. However WP:CSD#A1 "lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article" wasn't the right tag - the subject was clearly Mr. Boyd. The right tag was WP:CSD#A3 "Any article... consisting only of external links, category tags and "see also" sections, a rephrasing of the title... and/or images." It may seem a niggling distinction, but it's important to try to get the right tag, because that generates the right message for the author's talk page, and also because, if you can't find one that fits, that may mean the page is not speediable. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:15, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me, John. I'm really trying my best to get a hang of these tags, hopefully, this'll be the last time I mess up. :-) ~dee(talk?) 14:52, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

GOCE drive invitation
editGreetings from the Guild of Copy Editors
The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting. This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated. We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". |

File permission problem with File:DanCooper.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:DanCooper.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:51, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!
We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update. Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join! Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive. Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Thanks very much for participating in the Drive, and see you at the finish line!

Hey. I rewrote this article so that it meets the notability guidelines that the other admins nitpicked about but it turns out that kevin doesn't work at abcs anymore so the article again fails notability. How do i get it deleted again? Thanx and sorry to trouble you so much about this............Kip 78 (talk) 01:02, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion
editGreetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!
We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated. Stats
Barnstars If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering these barnstars within the next couple of weeks. Our next drive is scheduled for January 2011. In the meantime, please consider helping out at the Wikification drive or any of the other places where help with backlogs is needed. Thank you for participating in the last 2010 backlog elimination drive! We look forward to seeing you in January! GOCE drive news
edit Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 backlog elimination drive
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! The drive is halfway over, so here are some mid-drive stats.
So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now.
We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. Currently, we have eliminated 375 articles from the queue, so if each participant copy edits four more articles, we will reach that goal. Thank you for participating in the January 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success! Your drive coordinators –S Masters (talk), Diannaa (Talk), The UtahraptorTalk to me, and Tea with toast (Talk) |

Help request
edit{{helpme}} Gregorian Bivolaru -- I added a reference at the beginning, but it mucked up the page at the end. There IS a reflist, but I'm not familiar with this layout of references...are they not automatically added? Any help would be appreciated! ~dee(talk?)
- I replaced the "refbegin" template with a "reflist" and your citation is now diplayed and no cite error message. However, there are now two #1 references, so I'm leaving your help request live. Apologies for my inadequate instrusion. Tiderolls 12:38, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- What a mess. I'm not familiar with the referencing style, but can't say it does much for me. I started to make some changes, but Tide rolls is making some changes, so it won't work well if two editors are playing with refs at same time.--SPhilbrickT 12:43, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Tide / Phil - do you want me to sort it out? Chzz ► 12:54, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

- (edit conflict, sorry if the following will be discussed by the others already) Dee, the problem is, the rest of the references are actually notes. {{Refbegin}} does not transclude references which use the <ref> tags. I suggest moving the rest of the 'references' into a ==Notes== section while keeping the ==References== section purely for holding the missing {{Reflist}} template. The notes don't actually reference to any part of the text either, which is bad (they are vritually useless unless someone wants to slog through all of them and attach them to specific parts of the article), hence the multiple issues template at the top asking for references and the [citation needed] tags in the text itself, despite the article seeming to already have a lot of them. The original Romanian article seems to have the same problem as well. :/ --Obsidi♠nSoul 13:12, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
FWIW I've stepped away to watch and learn, so don't hesistate to attack the problem on my account. This will definitely go a long way towards my WP education. Thanks to all. Tiderolls 13:27, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Suggestion: put the ones that you can identify into standard <ref> </ref>. Bung the rest at the bottom - in a separate section, or the same one, whatever; doesn't matter. As 'non-linked refs' - just bullet-point 'em.
- If you like, you can use {{refbegin}} and {{refend}} around that block, so they 'look' like references - all that does is, uses the same font/styles as the reflist.
- Then others can hopefully move 'em into place, later.
Chzz is 103.<ref> Book of Chzz </ref> == References == {{reflist}} {{refbegin}} *Some generic reference here *And another {{refend}}
Chzz is 103.[1]

- OK, I've removed the UC template. There is a proper refs section now. ( used WP:LDR style. I'll try Chzz's suggestion for the notes section, and see if I can figure out where any go.--SPhilbrickT 13:58, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Wow. I'm so lost but I think it's beginning to make sense. The article needs a 'rewrite' so I think I'm going to go through all the ref-notes, translate them, make use of whatever I can as proper inline citations/refs and the rest as notes. Big job! ~dee(talk?)
- Just saw the talk page. Everything's clear now, thanks! ~dee(talk?)
- I'm going to take a break now. Looks like you are on the case. Eventually, notes that have been resolved, either converted to proper refs or abandoned as useless should be removed from the Notes section. The talk page can be a record. --SPhilbrickT 15:11, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- I have to go off for a while now too, but will work on it some more later and finish it in the next couple of days for sure. Thanks a lot for your help. :-) ~dee(talk?) 15:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the barnstar! I'll try to check the article out later, but I may forget, don't hesitate to poke me if you want me to take a look.--SPhilbrickT 15:40, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Please note I converted your refs to LDR. You don't have to follow that for additional refs; the style will co-exist with the usual referencing, but I think it makes the edited page a little tidier.
- Thanks for the barnstar! I'll try to check the article out later, but I may forget, don't hesitate to poke me if you want me to take a look.--SPhilbrickT 15:40, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

- Nice work, that article was in dismal shape in terms of references, you are making it much nicer.--SPhilbrickT 17:09, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
OK; best of luck, Deed89. References are certainly one of the most complicated things, but also of course the most vital. If you need any help with it, any time, give me or Phil a shout, or use a {{helpme}}. Cheers, Chzz ► 18:34, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion
edit Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive
Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated.
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering the barnstars within the next couple of weeks. Thank you for participating in this year's first Backlog elimination drive! We hope to see you in March. File copyright problem with File:James-White-Vegas Pics 054.JPG
editThank you for uploading File:James-White-Vegas Pics 054.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Fut.Perf. ☼ 17:27, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Judy'sbook.JPG
editThanks for uploading File:Judy'sbook.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 04:42, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

GOCE March drive newsletter
edit Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive update
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter. Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us! Progress report: Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far. Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers. Your drive coordinators – Dianna (talk), Stfg (talk), and Dank (talk)To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. |
San Jose Hospital & Trauma Center deletion discussion
editI have been finding tidbits of info on San Jose Hospital & Trauma Center since the discussion of this article's fate started. You can see what I added in the article.Bill Pollard (talk) 11:09, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment. I am in the process of trying to get more info from a couple of persons who know more about the hospital. Whether they respond with useful information, only time will tell. The next time I write an article about such a subject, I guess I will from the start try to solicit info from various places. It would have helped if I asked for handout flyers when I was there. I live in Florida and I don't know when, if ever, I will be in that vicinity again. Again, thanks for your help.Bill Pollard (talk) 13:42, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
CSD template
editHello, I saw that you tagged معايير استخدام المصادر الالكترونية علي شبكة الانترنت for speedy deletion with the {{Db-g1}} CSD template. I've changed the deletion template because, according to the criteria of speedy deletion, it says "This excludes poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, implausible theories, vandalism and hoaxes, fictional material, coherent non-English material, and poorly translated material." The article contains Arabic text, so that article does not fulfill that criteria. Thanks. -- Luke (Talk) 18:23, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Twinkle not working right?
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Occasionally, Twinkle doesn't work properly when it comes to the "rollback" feature, and it simply doesn't appear (in these cases, I can only 'undo' manually). Is this a problem with my settings or something else? Thanks. ~dee(talk?) 14:44, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Mind and meditation
editHello Deed89. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mind and meditation, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The reason given is not a valid speedy deletion criterion. Please check out WP:CSD - the criteria are deliberately tightly written, and if you can't find one that fits, the page is probably not speediable. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:13, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
