Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Daniellegross. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Daniellegross, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Robert L. Stark have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. Please follow guidelines when editing with a conflict of interest
editAs a general rule, if you, your family, or your close friends are employed by or would benefit financially from editing an article in a certain way, you may have a conflict of interest when making that particular edit. In some cases, you should not make that edit at all. In others, you may make the edit but you should and in some cases must disclose the conflict of interest.
A person with a similar name to your chosen Wikipedia username is known to be employed by a company connected to one or more of subjects you have written about. It could be just a coincidence.
Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure prior to making any further edits in articles in which you have a conflict of interest. If you do have a conflict of interest, please edit accordingly. If, after reading the guidelines, you realize that some of your past edits should not have been made or they should have been disclosed, please consider undoing the edit if others have not edited after you. If you do not undo the edits in which you have a conflict of interest, please put a note on the talk pages of those articles explaining that you were unaware of the guideline at the time you made the edits.
As I suggested earlier, the fact that your username is similar to that of someone who would have a clear conflict of interest if she made the edits you made could be just a coincidence. Thank you for trying to help build Wikipedia, the world's largest free content encyclopedia. Unfortunately, I have reverted your hijacking of this page. Please see User:Deepfriedokra/del for the deletion rationale for deleting the content. If you believe the subject meets WP:CORP, please follow the process via WP:AfC so that content and sourcing can be reviewed. "All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking." The website of the subject does not meet these requirements. -- Deepfriedokra 21:27, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Daniellegross: I expanded the hatnote at the top of Stark Industries so it includes a link to Robert L. Stark. That is all that should be done until or unless the company meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies and organizations ("WP:CORP") as demonstrated by independent, reliable sources. As Deepfriedokra suggested, you may want to use the Articles for creation ("WP:AfC") process to draft an article about the company. Also, as I and others have said multiple times earlier on your talk page here, please disclose any conflict of interest you have with things you write about and avoid making edits that conflict with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. Failure to adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines may eventually result in you losing the ability to edit parts or all of Wikipedia. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:25, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

Nomination of Stark Enterprises, LLC for deletion

Speedy deletion nomination of Stark Enterprises, LLC

Wikipedia is NOT a marketing venue
editUp to now, I have assumed good faith with you. I have assumed that you are here to make Wikipedia better.
Some of your initial edits benefited the project.
However, many did not and were reverted.
This happens. People new to the project don't always understand that Wikipedia is and what what Wikipedia is not. In particular, Wikipedia is not a place to promote companies or individuals.
However, you have received several warnings and appear to be ignoring them. My assumption of good faith on your part is wearing thin. I'm sure it is wearing thin on other editors as well.
You are welcome and encouraged to contribute to Wikipedia in areas that you have no personal "stake" in. However, I would strongly recommend that you avoid directly editing any article that touches on any topic you have a personal stake in, including any company you or anyone close to you works for or any organization you or they are heavily involved in, as well as any individual that is close to you personally, professionally, or otherwise. If you do have content that you think should be added to such articles, post a suggestion on the article's talk page and use the {{request edit}} template. If you would like to create a new article about a topic that does not have one, use the articles for creation (AfC) process. Bear in mind that most companies and most individuals do not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements and even a well-drafted article submitted through the AfC process will be rejected if the subject is not "notable" enough by Wikipedia's standards.
Wikipedia has processes and procedures in place to prevent "disruptive" editing. You have already seen some of these: warnings to the editor, reversion of deletes, and protection of pages so only certain editors can edit them (Stark Enterprises is protected against editing by relatively new accounts until sometime tomorrow). In more severe cases, pages can be "locked down" so only administrators can edit them. Also, individual editors such as you and me can be banned from editing certain pages or topic areas or banned from editing at all. In some cases, these bans can be enforced by partial blocks or a full block on editing anything except your own talk page.
Also, if you are paid, directly or indirectly, for your edits, you must read and abide by the Paid-contibution disclosure policy. While all policies in Wikipedia are generally non-negotiable (see ignore all rules for the exception), this policy includes a section which is from the Wikimedia Foundation. That section takes precedence over all non-Foundation Wikipedia policies and should be considered absolutely non-negotiable.
