Hello Csgir! Has you moved the page i created to Draft:Oxford Space Systems, may i ask why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sélim0877 (talkcontribs) 05:40, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Sélim0877 Yes, I did. The article is not yet ready for mainspace. You can work on the same in Drafts and then put it through AfC or move to the mainspace for review. Csgir (talk) 05:43, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Csgir,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Speedy deletion nomination of Mayank Pratap Singh

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mayank Pratap Singh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Nizil (talk) 06:40, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

Kalki Bhagavan

Please justify your blocking of my recent minor edits to Vijay Kumar's page, failing so, I will escalate this issue. I'm willing to discuss this and cite supporting sources for my edits. Ronyrockford (talk) 19:55, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

Kind of pointless to send this message when the same was already done at the Biographies Noticeboard to which I have left a comment few minutes back. Appreciate your willingness to discuss the issue; the same was needed before making the page move as well. Csgir (talk) 13:03, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Proposed deletion of 71 Broken Lines

The article 71 Broken Lines has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not sufficiently notable. No award and no full-length reviews from any independent source.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GSS💬 16:16, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Nomination of Wakefit for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Wakefit is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wakefit until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Divyam Seth (talk) 13:02, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Law of attraction (New Thought) article

Hello, I recently read "Law of attraction (New Thought)" article and found this statement: "The Law of Attraction has no scientific basis and has been dubbed a pseudoscience." I'm not the specialist however, I found a CIA document called "Analysis and Assessments of Gateway Process". On the 22 page (30. advanced techniques - b.patterning), there is a description, where CIA describes Law Of Attraction (but don't mention it's name directly). For many people it could be massive proof for "the law of attraction". It would be nice if you could reply to this message and say what's your point of view on this subject.83.24.106.235 (talk) 17:57, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello 83.24.106.235 (talk)! I believe in the Law of Attraction as having experienced it first hand personally and between other known people. I also read the CIA document - it doesn't mention LoA per se but it seems they are alluding to LoA. Ultimately, it comes down to one's belief system. Even if the article says it is scientific, there would be people who would choose not to believe it. I would also say one would need more proof since the CIA document doesn't mention LoA specifically. Csgir (talk) 09:34, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Regarding Speedy Deletion of Jessica Sunok

I am not being paid. I am a family member trying to help. Unfortunately, this is very confusing for me and the nature of my edits speak more to my ignorance and inexperience with creating Wikipedia pages. Jessica fired her last manager and has been handling her own PR, I'm simply trying to help. This is only the second time I've tried to create a wikipedia page (the first time was unsuccessful and also for a family member). She has some exciting projects lined up for this year and per the advice of one of her celebrity/film friends was advised to begin listing her accomplishments on Wikipedia and IMDB.

Maddjess (talk) 12:59, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Maddjess: Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. I understand that Wikipedia can be overwhelming :) Even if you are not being paid, you do have what we call a "conflict of interest" since you know the subject personally and trying to help her. I did Google her name and whatever is there is not sufficient to establish notability of Jessica Sunok. In all likeliness, the article is going to get deleted. Also, since there is a conflict of interest, you need to submit the article through WP:AFC where other experienced editors assess an article and either accept/reject it. Hope this helps. Csgir (talk) 13:52, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
@Csgir: So as she has receives more press about upcoming song and film releases this year should she author and submit her own Wikipedia page or is she supposed to wait until someone who doesn't know her author the page? Sorry if these are stupid questions. She's done a fair amount of uncredited work with various actors and musicians and her last manager was supposed to have handled the publicity side of this but didn't.

Maddjess (talk) 14:40, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Maddjess: If Sunok gains notability in the future, there can be two ways about this - 1) wait for a volunteer editor to create the page and 2) you can declare the conflict of interest and recreate the article through the WP:AFC process. Please do remember that autobiographies are discouraged on Wikipedia so the subject should not attempt to do it herself. Csgir (talk) 14:50, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
@Csgir: K... one more question and I really appreciate the advice. While working on her page last night a friend of Jessica ask her to ask me to create one for him (Nick Gathrite). Would you mind googling him to see if he is notable enough for me to write an article? Also, being that I don't know him nor will I get paid do I need to indicate a COI being that I know a person who knows him?

Maddjess (talk) 15:00, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Maddjess: No issues - happy to help. The subject, Nick Gathrite, is not notable and even if the person becomes notable in the future and you are creating the page for him, since he asked you to, you have to declare the COI and go through AFC. Csgir (talk) 15:11, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

GOCE March newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors March 2020 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the March newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since December 2019. All being well, we're planning to issue these quarterly in 2020, balancing the need to communicate widely with the avoidance of filling up talk pages. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below.

Election results: There was little changeover in the roster of Guild Coordinators, with Miniapolis stepping down with distinction as a coordinator emeritus while Jonesey95 returned as lead coordinator. The next election is scheduled for June 2020 and all Wikipedians in good standing may participate.

January Drive: Thanks to everyone for the splendid work, completing 215 copy edits including 56 articles from the Requests page and 116 backlog articles from the target months of June to August 2019. At the conclusion of the drive there was a record low of 323 articles in the copy editing backlog. Of the 27 editors who signed up for the drive, 21 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

February Blitz: Of the 15 editors who signed up for this one-week blitz, 13 completed at least one copy edit. A total of 32 articles were copy edited, evenly split between the twin goals of requests and the oldest articles from the copy-editing backlog. Full results are here.

March Drive: Currently underway, this event is targeting requests and backlog articles from September to November 2019. As of 18 March, the backlog stands at a record low of 253 articles and is expected to drop further as the drive progresses. Awards will be given to everyone who copyedits at least one article from the backlog. Help set a new record and sign up now!

Progress report: As of 18 March, GOCE copyeditors have completed 161 requests in 2020 and there was a net reduction of 385 articles from the copy-editing backlog – a 60% decrease from the beginning of the year. Well done and thank you everyone!

Election reminder: It may only be March but don't forget our mid-year Election of Coordinators opens for nominations on 1 June. Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, Reidgreg, Tdslk and Twofingered Typist

Reliant Motors copy-edit

Hi Csgir, thank you for your recent copy-edit of this article; I've approved the c/e because the article lacks references, meaning a c/e will be largely lost when the article is improved and properly referenced. Regarding your change of "fibreglass" to "fiberglass", please be mindful of the differences between British English and American English; per WP:ENGVAR, articles with a strong association with a country (in this case the UK) should be written in the style of English used there. Thanks again for your help improving Wikipedia. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 11:27, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for the feedback. Will keep this in mind for future. Csgir (talk) 14:08, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
