Ian_Sommerville_(Artist/Scientist) deleted July 2008

edit

Hello

I noticed while doing research that you deleted the page:

http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Ian_Sommerville_(Artist/Scientist)

in July of 2008

While I have no idea how well the page deleted was written Ian Sommerville is a notable artist and scientist connected to the Beat Generation. He and Bryon Gysin developed the Dream Machine, he has been included in several exhibitions at major institutions (his work was recently included in an exhibition at the Statens Museum in Copenhagen and several years ago at the Tate Modern) and a feature documentary made about him.

He lived in Tangier with Gysin and and William Burroughs and is seen in hundreds of photographs with various members of the Beat Generation published in dozens of books. Allen Ginsburg composed his eulogy.

I feel that though he may not be a widely known persona he is in fact notable for his contributions to literature, art and culture in the 20th century.

If you would be so kind as to undelete the page I will do what I can to flesh it out in a better fashion.

Thank you

Thank you for your message. In future, please sign your messages by typing ~~~~ at the end.
I notice that you chose the "other deletion" option from my deletion wizard, but the correct selection would have been "speedy deletion".
Ian Sommerville (Artist/Scientist) was deleted under criterion 7 (under Articles) of our criteria for speedy deletion because it appeared to be an article about a person which didn't indicate why it was important or significant. Please see WP:BIO for details of what might show notability. If you think that these criteria are met, please explain which one and provide citations from reliable sources to back up your claim, and I will consider undeleting it.
You may alternatively file a deletion review request. Stifle (talk) 18:36, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Equinox Festival

I have nominated Equinox Festival, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Equinox Festival. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Re:Revert issues

edit

I hardly know where to start with replying to your message, it was so very wrong at every stage. So in order of you raising these points: I have not been warned multiple times on my talk page. I undid an edit once, the other time I changed the text so it was more accurate. The honus is not on me to find a source. The exisitng entry at the time you wrote did imply that the video was official, saying it was "released". An accurate sentence lacking any sources is still preferabal to an equally unsourced wikipedia page that is incredibly biased in itself. In fact, forget this. While writing this I have realised how unreference, biased and generally unsavable this article is, so I'm going to nominate it for deletion. Good day. U-Mos (talk) 20:21, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd love you to try and prove that I have nominated this article for deletion out of spite. Really, I would. What you are saying is that an article with no sources should be totally positive because everything else is potentially liable. There was nothing like that in the text I re-added. The video is unofficial. It was removed. And it was because of Thom Yorke. There are no sources in the entire article, and that coupled with the questionable notability and extreme bias is why I nominated for deletion. To take exception to this particular edit does nothing but imply your own bias, as every edit that has added to this article in the last two years has been unsourced. U-Mos (talk) 20:41, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Edits that are not potentially liable do not need sources... you keep thinking that... And please, please sign comments using four tildes. U-Mos (talk) 21:03, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not really. I haven't made any major changes to it, and while it's around things that need fixing should be fixed. U-Mos (talk) 17:29, 28 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Truth-Will-Out.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Truth-Will-Out.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:05, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Raymond Salvatore Harmon

edit

You undid all my work getting the article to comply with our Manual of Style. In particular, lists of works and events must be in chronological order. References must be reliable third-party sources and must actually verify the stated facts, which some of the references don't. Citations must be full, they must include the authors, publihsers, dates, etc and should be linked from the title of the work, not from an appended link.

I took a great deal of time to fix all these problems, and you reverted all my work.

Don't do it again. Yworo (talk) 19:20, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I left a message on your talk page. I find you actions, particularly in regards to the Raymond Salvatore Harmon page, to be unhelpful to say the least. You have destroyed a ton of the work I have done on that page over the past 3 years. I undid your work because it is basically vandalism, much like you removing any link to that page from other wiki pages. Creatcher (talk) 05:27, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have not engaged in any vandalism. All my edits are intended to improve the article, and most are explained in the edit summaries. Please do not repeat such personal attacks again. Yworo (talk) 06:31, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Personal attacks

edit

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at User talk:Yworo. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Yworo (talk) 00:15, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Creatcher. You have new messages at Yworo's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Although I don't think your "wikilord" comment is a personal attack, it does suggest an abrasive approach to editing. And Yworo is correct that no one owns any article, regardless of how much work you put into it. I think you should read WP:CIVIL and WP:BRD, and try to discuss differences of opinion rather than personalize them. That having been said, if Yworo or any other editor does not extend the same courtesy to you, I'll be the first to help you deal with the problems. Thanks. 174.99.127.20 (talk) 01:00, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi 174. Creatcher, generally, if you play nice with me, I'll play nice with you. I mentioned on my talk page that IMDb is generally not considered a reliable source. It was just pointed out to me elsewhere that the details of this policy can be found at Wikipedia:External_links/Perennial_websites#IMDb, so I'm passing that info along to you. Repost of Equinox Festival

edit

A tag has been placed on Equinox Festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this:   which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you.
