Question

Hello! I dare to ask You a question as I've learned here that You have a relevant scholarly background. When I created an article in the English Wikipedia, a vigilant enwiki user tagged it with a template of the Women's History wikiproject. Personally I feel about it very positive (and I sent a thank you notification to the vigilant user), but I a bit confused about what would be appropriate for me while creating/expandig other like articles. Namely: written policy of the Project states: "The biography of a woman born between 1900 and 1950 is within the scope of this project if reliable sources discuss her life or career in the context of women's history or as contributing to significant societal or cultural change." Do women of XX century notable (accordingly to reliable sources) as soldiers still need specific explicit mentioning as significant contributors to Women's history for inclusion of their biographies into the Project, given that women of combat professions are still relatively rare and there are a plenty of scholarly sources connecting participation of women (in general) in warfare and, especially, their direct engagement in combat with major cultural changes in the Women's history? Since I don't know exact intentions of the Project's founders, I find it awkward for me to paste baldly it's template in whatever article i like. If the intention of the language cited was to limit the number of the articles supervised, then it should be taken into account that the potential number of articles about distinguished female soldiers of XX century, matching Wikipedia's criteria for notability, may be in hundreds. So finally, I ask your learned opinion: should such articles be tagged with the template of the Women's History wikiproject or they should not? Humbly beg your pardon for being so bald. I am Petros Apostolopoulos, a Ph.D. candidate in Public History at North Carolina State University. My Ph.D. project examines how historical knowledge is produced on Wikipedia.
