Muooo-zik

edit

Oddly enough, Roxy Music was on the setlist this week. WesleyDodds (talk) 03:09, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Where the hell are you? The conversations on my talk page in the last day have been very music nerd-oriented, and not with the roguish Irish charm you usually add (ie. commenting that whichever female singer is very attractive, calling someone a prick, talking crap about Blur, etc.) WesleyDodds (talk) 13:17, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think this is all lies. Keep an eye out for it on Main Page day. WesleyDodds (talk) 00:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's funny: considering that you're Irish and work on a lot fo Irsh articles, I should logically work on more American-fixated articles. What should I spruce up first: Apple pie, Abraham Lincoln, or John Wayne? WesleyDodds (talk) 01:06, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Goth is the answer, of course. WesleyDodds (talk) 01:14, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
So there's a specific way to write "LoooosiiiingggGGGg conTROLCONLLL LooSINgcctolrol"? WesleyDodds (talk) 01:45, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
True story: right now VH1 Classic is showing a "BBC Crown Jewels" performance by The Smiths. Every time I turn to the channel Morrissey is yelping around in falsetto. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:33, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You know what's a good song? "For No One". Remember when Paul could convey actual human emotions? WesleyDodds (talk) 09:44, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I too have been developing a newfound appreciation of The Cute One. It's easy to fall into the music critic fallacy of "John=rock, artist, Paul=poppy, souless". But listen to him sing in that deep growly boom in "Golden Slumbers"; that guy sure had balls when he wanted to, and is a fantastic singer all-round. My top five rock vocalists lists definitely includes Paul, John, and Freddi Mercury. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Note I have two more slots left, which I have yet to settle on. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:33, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Gimme your list, rogue. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:47, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see you were looking at my edit history today. WesleyDodds (talk) 00:26, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way, what do you think of SST Records so far? Me and some other WikiProject gnomes decided we should start tackling some of the major alt/indie labels (SST, Sub Pop, Creation, 4AD, etc.). Any ideas/suggestions? WesleyDodds (talk) 00:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I outed you today. WesleyDodds (talk) 06:24, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Will have to check them out in a little bit. Just started listening to Loveless on the iPod right now and I'm only two minutes into "Only Shallow". WesleyDodds (talk) 09:39, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I'm going to see Iron Maiden in a week. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:46, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's pretty much what my experience was like back in July. Also, I'm considering seeing R.E.M. in May, who are touring with The National and the Johnny Marr Experience (also known as Modest Mouse). WesleyDodds (talk) 09:52, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Says the guy I got to upload a soundclip of "Purgatory" for Heavy metal music. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:56, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I guess I was always hoping we could make it longer. At some point I'd like to track down the official Cure bio Ten Imaginary Years, which is out of print. That probably has some info I could use. The current projects on my plate are Definitely Maybe, In Utero, and Britpop, although if there's another music article you wish to collaborate on I'm game. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh yeah, and I refuse to take it to FAC until they fix the title. Silly MOS, it's "Just Like Heaven", all capitalized!!! WesleyDodds (talk) 10:06, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I'm reasonably sure you've sent me that Burial link before. We're repeating ourselves. Does that mean we win against YouTube? WesleyDodds (talk) 10:12, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Right now I'm watching the video again in order to add to that section. Care to join me? WesleyDodds (talk) 11:12, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Some silly c*nt shortened Porl's guitar part before the second verse. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:30, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, that's the way it airs on TV. So I'm either blaming Tim Pope or the record company. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:48, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way, talk about missing the point. Christ, that live AFI cover is better than that. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:55, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maybe I missed something, but weren't Kings of Leon supposed to be ironic Southern rock revivalists? Guess they outgrew that. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Irony was actually pretty big in the States during the 1990s. We just never took it to Achtung Baby levels. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I must sleep now. I shall consider FACing the song tomorrow. In the meantime, you should take a stab at "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Good lord is that one a mess. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:48, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I've been up for hours. Right now I'm watching The Rocketeer. It has Timothy Dalton. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:33, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
You better be wearing nothing but black when reviewing this FAC. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
BBC Crown Jewels is on again, and this time it's airing a show by Thin Lizzy. As someone who's primarily familiar with "The Boys Are back in Town" and "Jailbreak", the song they're playing right now rocks pretty hard. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:29, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I on the other hand have a special connection with this, mainly because people say I mumble sometimes. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:54, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

What do you think about pestering Raul to place Loveless on the main page for Valentine's Day? WesleyDodds (talk) 04:59, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dude, let us know when you talk long breaks like that. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:13, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You go first. WesleyDodds (talk) 03:29, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that always bugged me. Cheeky bastards. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:24, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
So that's what you do when you're not here. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:02, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Here. Go rock out. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:07, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm listening to Bowie right before bed. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:54, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
"Modern Love", which I quoted. Now the iPod has shuffled to "When You Sleep". Kevin Shields sure has my number. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:59, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, Ceoil, you and your respectable research and editing for articles on great works of art and other reputable encyclopedic topics. Heaven knows your time is better spent writing excessive plot summaries for episodes of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and cataloguing Internet fads you heard about the other day. WesleyDodds (talk) 13:06, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I think maybe we could lend a hand here. Good night. WesleyDodds (talk) 13:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow! That was fast! Only a month ago, you nominated it. Congradulations! Basketballone10 00:22, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jeez - Thanks heavens it's protected!!! Now you have the flame-thrower too (below I mean). Johnbod (talk) 00:59, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I doubt it - DYK usually gets some good edits though. Btw, I went to see Ms Rokeby today, but she is on holiday at the Prado. Johnbod (talk) 01:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cool, I didn't know it was on the main page just now. Congraulations to you Ceoil (and others), and I say that without any sarcasm or fake malice. –Outriggr § 01:34, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Congratulations! The spike in vandalism is the price extracted for a successful contribution. Best wishes, JNW (talk) 01:51, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

edit

Hello Ceoil, I have granted rollback rights to your account. The reason for this is that, after a review of some of your contributions, I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended use of reverting vandalism: I do not believe you will abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck. Tyrenius (talk) 00:56, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to congratulate you, Ceoil, on attaining rollbacker status. Not everyone can be granted the ability to do to a wikipedia article what any IP editor can do, in a slightly more efficient manner. (Although it's a good thing Tyrenius didn't notice your flair-up around the new year! I wonder if you'd still be rolling back?) As you are now above me in the wikipedia hierarchy, I bow humbly before you, and ask only that I may be of some service to you, as you see fit. Regards, –Outriggr § 01:07, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of flare up, ew ... indef-able crime. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:05, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Italised paintings

Sorry I was not sure about that. I know that it is italised across the page but I thought that the introduction should stand separate. Nothing bad intended. Evlekis (talk) 12:24, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Abbey

edit

You are most welcome. It's been an enjoyable read, and I'm almost done. Thus far, I have two questions that I can't quite resolve. (1) Note 33 seems to be missing something, perhaps its web link. (2) Mac Conghail appears with a space between Mac and Conghail in the text but run together as MacConghail in some of the source articles. I left it as Mac Conghail, adding a no-break space to keep the parts of the name together on the same line in all screen displays. I may have to knock off for an hour or so to do some real-life things, but I intend to finish my editing this evening. I just need to do a final read-through to make sure everything is OK. My best. Alice in Chains

edit

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for your work on the Alice in Chains article - normally when I see 10 edits by someone that I dont know(or am not working on the article with) I get the "ugh... here we go" feeling, but wow - everything you fixed sounds excellent! This thing has been going at it a long time, but I think it's that much closer now, thaks again - Skeletor2112 (talk) 06:09, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

music clips

edit

Well, I have to admit to being an old curmudgeon when it comes to my narrow musical tastes. I find the non-Western elements interesting, but would rather listen to traditional non-Western music (or 18th century Western stodge). Tony (talk) 06:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mona Lisa

edit

Anyone who cuts the pop culture references and trivia lists earns my editorial admiration--well done! I do not have a good source to recommend for Mona; my personal library has a Leonardo gap. If I find something at my school library I will give a holler. Cheers, JNW (talk) 14:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Amanda is the go-to person for Leonardo, and of course Johnbod knows the territory, too. Best regards, JNW (talk) 15:24, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
