• Be aware of potentially unsubstantiated yet controversial statements such as "... and the inventor of ...". If Brody was indeed the sole inventor then fine but if he was part of a team then you need to say that. In either case, ensure you have a reliable source that backs this up
• The images are not properly licensed. Check WP:IUP
• Consider putting a Template:American English template on the article talk page to discourage people like me changing some of the spelling (e.g. program)
• Also consider adding other relevant banners on the talk page such as for his country of birth or his discipline (if such banners exist). Consult other similar articles to see what banners they use on the their talk pages
• I have added the article to categories (see bottom of article) though you may feel that the article is relevant to other categories too

Factoid: The OED credits the noun active matrix to 1975 T P Brody et al as the inventors of the term. You can use this in your article with the expression:

Early life and career section

Cbrody, I have discovered that the first section of your article on T Peter Brody is a mixture of direct quotes from the Information Display memoriam and close paraphrasing of the text, without an inline citation for attribution. You need to read the Wikipedia plagiarism policy.

I can see that it will be hard to substantially reword this material if it's your only citable source for his early life and career, but you need to find a way. And time is running out for the DYK nomination - Oct 12 is now second from the top of the active list. RockMagnetist (talk) 04:34, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for this. A difficult one as the original (from which SID and others largely copied) was written by a combination of my father (as per his CV), his colleagues, myself and my sisters. If it helps, I keep plodding through this. For example, I wrote to the University of London yesterday (and received an automated reply saying student records would charge me £15 to confirm the degree, PhD and lecturing so that was a no no for me) and I also wrote to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London asking for confirmed information. I had thought of writing to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office formerly the FO re his SOE work but decided not to (Official Secrets Act). I will continue to plug away. However, if you want my opinion, I would bin whatever is in the early life section at the moment and put cited prose back later :) --Senra (Talk) 16:04, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't think that is necessary. Straight news articles (not opinion pieces) satisfy the reliable source policy. I don't know whether the Information Display qualifies; but one source will do for now. But the rewrite is essential. RockMagnetist (talk) 16:19, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Trying to think outside the box here. Cbrody (naturally) wishes to say that Brody developed the technology yet the references do not support this so I was thinking, perhaps in the article and the DYK hook to use that phrase --Senra (Talk) 16:20, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Just tried a google scholar search using the search term "Brody T P". I am not very familiar with how to use google scholar so I leave others to interpret these results. 28,000 results seems to me, a layman in this context, too many - though I did notice some false positives, such as the JA Brody on the third page --Senra (Talk) 18:39, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

I then restricted another google scholar search to 1945+ and the three topics "Physics, Astronomy, and Planetary Science", "Chemistry and Materials Science" and "Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics" resulting in 131 hits including ...

This paper, A light interrupter of continuously variable on-off ratio may be the earliest paper by T Peter Brody that is indexed online. I notice that the paper includes his post noms. I am not sure but you may be able to use the paper as a source for “Brody received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics in 1953 from the University of London. From 1953 to 1959, he worked as Senior Lecturer in Physics at the University”

I count seven papers by Brody tagged Westinghouse between 1962 (Nature of the Valley Current in Tunnel Diodes) and 1975 (Thin film transistor-addressed display device). Again, I am not sure but these may be enough to confirm his tenure at Westinghouse

Next steps for the T P Brody article

You may be happy with the progress that the article T Peter Brody has made since its first creation on 6 October 2011 using the Wikipedia article creation process. On the other hand, you may wish to take the article further. For example, you could consider submitting the article to the peer review process which would be followed by a Good Article nomination then a Featured Article nomination. There is no guarantee that an article will succeed at any one stage and each stage is progressively harder than next. In my opinion the article in its current state would sail through a peer review. The peer review process would be simpler for you if, once you have submitted the article, you recruit a volunteer as recommended on the Wikipedia:Peer review page.
