Recent changes

• The Persian (Farsi) Wikipedia community decided to block IP editing from October 2021 to April 2022. The Wikimedia Foundation's Product Analytics team tracked the impact of this change. An impact report is now available.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 August. It will be on all wikis from 18 August (calendar).
• Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 16 August at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 18 August at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
• The Realtime Preview will be available as a Beta Feature on wikis in Group 1. This feature was built in order to fulfill one of the Community Wishlist Survey proposals.

Future changes

• The Beta Feature for DiscussionTools will be updated throughout August. Discussions will look different. You can see some of the proposed changes. [1][2][3]

Hello, pleased to meet you. I have discovered that my name has an article associated with me in Wiki, however, it is not me. I am considered a public figure, have been in radio/tv/film for 60 years and am regarded as a pioneer in the industry. There are several published articles that have mentioned my contributions as well as some written by me. My intent is not promoting myself as I am retired and no luger able to accept new projects. I would like to submit copies for consideration. I have read the guidelines and certainly would comply. There are several articles that include me already in Wiki. Johnny Radio Guy Good day. I am not what did you mean by "submit copies for consideration". If you meant to write an article about yourself, then you would have conflict of interest (COI) since you are the subject of the article and if you use the article which you wrote that is also considered COI and not independent source which violate the verifiability policy. Libripenia Good day. If depend on the tag. If the tag (on the top of the article) states the article sounds / is written like a advertisement, then if you want to help, then rewrite the body text by removing all the MOS:PUFF words/phrase and the body text should be written in WP:NPOV manner as long as the body text is supported by the independent, reliable sources. Recent changes

• Two problems with Kartographer maps have been fixed. Maps are no longer shown as empty when a geoline was created via VisualEditor. Geolines consisting of points with QIDs (e.g., subway lines) are no longer shown with pushpins. [4][5]

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 23 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 24 August. It will be on all wikis from 25 August (calendar).
• Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 25 August at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
• The colours of links and visited links will change. This is to make the difference between links and other text more clear. [6]

• The new [subscribe] button helps newcomers get answers. The Editing team is enabling this tool everywhere. You can turn it off in your preferences. [7]

CVUA Enrollment

Hi, I'm WPEditor42, and I am interested in enrolling in the Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy. I've made over 300 global edits (see Special:CentralAuth/WPEditor42) in the English and Portuguese Wikipedia (mostly mainspace articles). I regularly patrol recent changes to detect vandalism (filter is edits by unregistered users thay may have problems and are the latest revision), and I've reverted some instances of vandalism with this method. I add most pages I edit to my personal watchlist.

Pls note that the program do require you to read some guidelines and work on some assignment which will take some of your personal time. There is no time set on compeleting the program, but most participants took about 2 months to complete it. Pls complete WP:TWA program (on your lap top and not on mobile device) to familiar yourself with some of the basic Wikipedia guidelines and pop back here when you have done and I will set up the program for you.

WPEditor42 Wikipedia do not encourage user to have more than one username for not particular good reasons and it would cause you problem incase you use it for sock and you would be banned indefinitely. Wikipedia userpage can not be deleted either. I suggest you to state "retired" on Your (TWA) user page and not edit it again/use it again and keep your WPEditor42 and rework TWA program on the page. Problems

• In recent months, there have been inaccurate numbers shown for various Special:Statistics at Commons, Wikidata, and English Wikipedia. This has now been fixed. [8]

• The Wikimedia Foundation wants to improve how Wikimedia communities report harmful incidents by building the Private Incident Reporting System (PIRS) to make it easy and safe for users to make reports. You can leave comments on the talk page, by answering the questions provided. All participants work on the program on their own pace and there is no time limit to compete the program. Most participants would complete the program in 2-3 months.
