Sherdog, vandals etc.
Hi Cass. https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Magnus_Dominus, Magnus Dominus, who is clearly Lordpermaximum, has started their fight against Sherdog again, and I have had enough of it. Please open an SPI. There is a much more important thing to state, however. In the RFC that Lordpermaximum started and was banned during, Magnus Dominus voted. So the manipulation of the process was far greater than we realised. The whole thing should be torn up and started again. We need to get this user banned and start a new RSN case to put a stop to it. I haven't the energy. It's getting me down. I have tried very hard to improve the MMA articles on Wikipedia but these trolls have got me down. It's annoying me and making me irritable. As a consequence, I am having an extended break. Please keep an eye on the place for me.NEDOCHAN (talk) 15:13, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

Counter vandalism academy
Actually, I want the status of reviewer and autoreviewer, but it is difficult to find new themes to create articles. Almost everything I think, already exists on enwiki. On the other hand, I signed up for a rollback. Will the academy help me gain trust to be a rollback? I am already on ptwiki. But I want emigrate to enwiki. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 22:16, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- A.WagnerC Good day and thank you for the message above. First of all, please note that each Wikipedia sister pages (different languages) operates independently from each other and thus they have different policies and guidelines that includes counter vandalism work for such I could not help you on your rollback right application. The main reason participant enroll in CUVA is to learn counter vandalism related work and not to gain user right as any editor can be a vandalism fighter without rollback right.
- There are still hundred of thousands articles need to be created in en Wikipedia, you can check and join Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, Wikipedia:Requested articles and Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English (or translated pt articles and into en).
- You are welcome to participate in CUVA if you are interested in counter vandalism in en and there is also a WP:NPPS program if you wish to to join where you can apply for a new page reviewer right after completion. Just note, NPPS program is a lot harder than that of CUVA's but it is a comprehensive program. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:45, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- I Want to participate in Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy. Are you avaliable as tutor? My zone is BRT, but I have the night free. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 17:13, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- A.WagnerC Yes I have slots for trainees for CUVA and NPPS and if you want me to be your trainer, then let me know or if you want other trainers, pls see here at CUVA. As for time zone, it does not matter as I would check/edit Wikipedia almost everyday. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk)

Anti-Vandal
Hello. I would like to be trained to be an Anti Vandal. Kind regards J.Turner99 (talk) 18:05, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- J.Turner99 Good day. Thank you for interested in joining CUVA. To participate in CVUA program, the editor needs to have at least a total of 200 main space edits and at the present you have only 158 main space edit - see here. CUVA motto is maturity, civility and responsibility and seeing your talk page communication with admins here-1 and you lack of understanding of IRS sourcing and WP:BLP requirements - here-2, I would not think that you are ready to be part of CUVA program even you have reached more 200 main space edits for I find you not only have limited of understand about Wikipedia basic guidelines, threaten to report editor to SPI for no good reason and subsequent not understanding the comment/advice from admin are particularly concerning. Everybody makes mistakes or might not know certain Wikipedia guidelines, However, being disruptive and taking the edit as AFG is two different things just as sourced content (IRS -independent, relabel source) doesnt mean inclusion let alone the source was from subject twitter page. We, the vandal fighters, face many editors who would not only challenge our revets/warning messages, but would troll, name calling, add disgusting content, threaten physical harm and legal actions on our talk page, for such being mature and having a cool head is particular important which you have not demonstrate that at present time. To learn about Wikipedia guidelines for new editor is a long up hill struggle and at times it seems like a Herculian task as there are so many guidelines; however, with time spending reading the guidelines and ask for advice in a polite and civil manner, and editors would learn the basic guidance in time. I do suggest you to participate WP:TWA to gain some understanding of basic Wikipedia guidelines and do learn to listen to advice, and having more edits first before part take counter vandalism work. Last note: If you have an issue on content dispute, bring the discussion to the article talk page and discuss in a civil manner and not threaten to report the editor SPI just because the editor reverted your edit. Let me know if anything else I could help. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 06:09, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Cassiopeia Hello. Thank you for the message. I am disappointed in yet another editior who assumes bad faith. The Sockpuppet report had evidence, and was not make because I disagree that someone reverted my edit. I apprciate your message and I understand. Thank you. J.Turner99 (talk) 09:33, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- J.Turner99 You might had evidence of other edits made by the editor, but what I mentioned about was based on the hist diff above here again you made, that the editor reverted your edit and stating secondary source needed which you threating to report the editor to SPI. Next time, do discuss the matter in article talk page and it usually get resolve quickly. The SPI you report has been closed and comment of the closing admin "Do not file bad faith reports like this. Closing with no action" - see here. Take good care Turner and stay safe and remember Wikipedia is a place to collaborate with other editors and communication is the key for we are all here to contribute Wikipedia project. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:59, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- The closing admin later said "Maybe calling your report "bad faith" wasn't the right choice of words" on their talk page. I appricate the advice, thank you. J.Turner99 (talk) 10:36, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- J.Turner99 I just saw and other comments in the message thread. Admins and experienced editors would always gladly to help if editor need help and ask and communicate politely. Take you time to learn about Wikipedia guidelines and see how things work here as Wikipedia will always be here. I hope where you stay presently is relative safe due to Covid situation and take good care of yourslef. If you have any questions or need any help, do pop back here. Best. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Congolese mixed martial artists
A tag has been placed on Category:Congolese mixed martial artists requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Would you be willing to train me in New Page Patrolling?
I had New Page Patrol permission in December for one month, and an additional one month extension was granted a few days ago. Would you be willing to train me in NPP procedures? If so, how does that happen?PopePompus (talk) 23:23, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- PopePompus Good day and thank you for interested in NPPS. NPPS is a comprehensive program and it covers many topics related to patrolling/reviewing new pages. I has a total of 10 assignment and one final exam. Participants are given some reading material/links on each assignment and after answering the questions on the assignment, trainer will review and comment on their work. Please note there are a lot of reading material but there is no time limit on when you should complete the assignment as each participant work on the assignment as own pace. At any point of the assignment, participant is welcome to ask question or seek assistance from the trainer. Most participants take a few months to complete the program. If you still interested after reading the above, then let me know and I will set up the program for you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:07, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

Sherdog
Hi Cass. I think now might be the time to conduct a proper, calm and considered RfC on Sherdog's reliability. The last one was totally butchered by the vandal and the vandal used their own sockpuppets to vote in it. I think we should start another but...I don't know how. NEDOCHAN (talk) 16:11, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN, Good day. Go to WP:RSN and read the yellow and blue highlighted boxes a few times to familiar yourself of the info and instructions. Please also read the links provided in the boxes and make sure you understand them first before writing the RSN. State your case, be brief, clear but provide evident/do research of your case/source and lastly take you time to write the RSN. When it is done you can post the discussion link at MMA project page talk pages but without any act of canvasing. Let me know if anything else I could help. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:54, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

- UseAsRef script allows you to add references to statements using one external ID as source (see User:Bargioni/UseAsRef and this YouTube video for more information)
- Other Noteworthy Stuff
- Abstract Wikipedia presents prototypes of two tools that could help people to visualize, exemplify, and better guide our understanding of the coverage of lexicographic data in Wikidata.
- Public Domain Tool, developed by the Flemish Institute for Archives automates the process of determining whether their collection items could be in the public domain.
- Sizes of country items (like "Portugal" (Q45)) were recently reduced by 30% to 50% by moving a few economics properties to "economy of"-items (sample: "economy of Portugal" (Q1649355)). The item "economy of Portugal" is currently larger than "Portugal". This can simplify uses of country items that previously timed-out. Infoboxes can still access the properties with the link through "economy of topic" (P8744).
- Later this week, the development team will enable a rate limit for assigning new item IDs. Bots and users who successfully create items should notice no change, since the rate limit is equal to the existing limit on all edits. However, bots that often fail to create items may start to see different error messages than usual. This will hopefully reduce the problem of skipped item IDs.

In regards to the names, I got the full names off the USADA website https://www.usada.org/news/athlete-test-history/ but don't know how to cite that? All the best HeinzMaster (talk) 16:14, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Likewise, I saw the stuff you put on the page about Ottman Azaitar. The controveries are about Omar and Abu, Ottman is the only brother to not be involved in criminal stuff.HeinzMaster (talk) 02:15, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster Ok. I thought there are only two Azaitars, instead there are 3 brothers in the family. Thank you for letting me know and removed the content. Appreciate it. Cassiopeia(talk) 02:24, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster Done review and as you know Emmers was out of the fight tonight due to medical issues. Thanks again for your contribution. Stay sfe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:45, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster Citing - May I know how do your cite your source normally? (There are a few ways to do that). Cassiopeia(talk) 06:28, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- CASSIOPEIA Do I just link the site or do I need to include a screenshot. Since the search engine is in site, I can't put an archive link since it just shows the empty webpage. Example: https://web.archive.org/web/20210208124818/https://www.usada.org/news/athlete-test-history/
- HeinzMaster I was expecting you to tell me how you normally cite the source :) ..... Well, in Wikipedia, you can cite the source (1) Manually or (2) using Wikipedia:VisualEditor (VE). To cite the see [source manually from internet site - use horizontal format of Template:Cite web. If you use Visual Editor then you need to enable it first. Once it is enable, click "Cite" on the manu on top of the page and all you need to do is to paste the URL into the field and the rest of the fields will automatically fill for you. However, sometimes the author info might not be captured by VE. Besides citing sources from the web, you can also cite sources from other media such as book, journal and etc. If VE could not capture the info from the URL, then you have the option to manfully key in the info in VE. The above example you provided is not a good page to cite and there is not specific info for the content need to be verified in Wikipedia and not for a search cite to be included in the page. Example here using VE [1] - Islam Makhachev from USADA page. I hope I have answered your question, if not let me know. Btw, I have changed my user name from all caps to sentence case last year. Cassiopeia(talk) 06:59, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- CassiopeiaWhoops sorry I misunderstood and OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing me about the VE autocitation. I have been doing all the citations manually all this time. This will save so much time. And point taken about the page not being good for citation. HeinzMaster (talk) 07:26, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

- HeinzMaster No worries. I have mentioned to you before that I will provide all the basic mma info to your some months ago, but I saw you have picked up a lot of the guidelines and so I thought you know most of the basic info needed. Yes VE is very helpful, it was not very stable some years ago, and for the last few years, I have no problem using them. You have been very helpful and provide a lot of good edits and created many pages and I thank you. Let me know if anything else I could help. Cassiopeia(talk) 07:33, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The visual editor will now use MediaSearch to find images. You can search for images on Commons in the visual editor when you are looking for illustrations. This is to help editors find better images. [12]
- The syntax highlighter now works with more languages: Futhark, Graphviz/DOT, CDDL and AMDGPU. [13]
Problems
- Editing a timeline might have removed all text from it. This was because of a bug and has been fixed. You might need to edit the timeline again for it to show properly. [14]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 23 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 24 February. It will be on all wikis from 25 February (calendar).
Future changes
- There is a user group for developers and users interested in working on Wikimedia wikis with the Rust programming language. You can join or tell others who want to make your wiki better in the future.

Cris Cyborg
Hi, I would like to ask for help in an issue I have with this article. In the main body section, it is stated that Cyborg is "widely regarded as the greatest female MMA fighter of all time". I consider this statement to be outdated and its sources insufficient for reasons I stated here, and I think unless better sources are provided it should be removed. However, my edits kept getting undid by another user without any explanation as to why, so to avoid an edit war I thought it would be better to ask someone unbiased for an opinion. I would really appreciate if you could look at it, if you find the time. Thanks in advance. 2A02:AB04:2F43:5000:CA3D:DCFF:FE71:E371 (talk) 22:53, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- You're.... Odd.
- How are you going to run to someone else, claiming I haven't responded to you, or given you reasons as to why I placed my edit in the page? When I literally responded to you, and gave you reasons I placed my edits in the page?
- It's... amazing you work here.
- Next time look. It's a lot easier, than coming up with...... random things that aren't true.
- Have a good day.
- Hello, you responded to me on your own talk page, which I had no way of noticing without you notifying me about it, which you didn't do. I decided to ask someone unbiased for an opinion as it was clear both of us were getting carried away with the editing and neither of us wanted to compromise. I responded on the Talk:Cris Cyborg just now and we can discuss the issue there. Take care. 2A02:AB04:2F43:5000:CA3D:DCFF:FE71:E371 (talk) 09:37, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- @2A02:AB04:2F43:5000:CA3D:DCFF:FE71:E371 and 136.49.166.71: Good day. First of all thank you for sending me the message regarding the above issues. I will help and address the issues on the article talk page - here - Talk:Cris Cyborg. Secondly and most importantly, both of you have engaging in WP:Edit Warring where by both of you disagreed with the content claimed and you both have revert more than 3 times within 24 hours in the same article for such both of you have violated Wikipedia WP:3RR guidelines. Both of you need to "STOP" reverting and editing anything on the article "IMMEDIATE" and discuss the issue on the article talk page. I have place a 3RR warning on your page but I would not report you as I believe both of you do not know/familiar with 3RR guiltiness in Wikipedia since both of you are new editors. However, If you continues editing after receiving the 3RR warning message then you are subject to be reported and blocked from editing in Wikipedia. Pls check my message on your talk page and Talk:Cris Cyborg. When discuss the content dispute, pls be WP:CIVIL and comment on the content and not the editor. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:41, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your response, I appreciate it. I was indeed not familiar with the guidelines, I'll try not repeat that in future. 2A02:AB04:2F43:5000:CA3D:DCFF:FE71:E371 (talk) 09:37, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
