Hey, just curios. Why don´t you put the Standings above the Games? That´s with almost all sporting events here and as a user if i click on it i want to see the standings first and then when i´m interested the results. Kante4 (talk) 11:56, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Spengler cup logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Spengler cup logo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Fair use rationale for File:Spengler cup logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Spengler cup logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Hey, just let the score blank so the time of the match is shown. ;) Look at the IIHF tournaments, it´s been done there since quite some time... Kante4 (talk) 16:34, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The "show" area will come when you edit the score... I really do not much at the German site but i wondered the same. Kante4 (talk) 17:08, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
They are the clear favourite of mine, although i don´t know those teams very well, i just know that Davos should be the strongest! Kante4 (talk) 19:40, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Nah, i go with Davos-Canada final. BTW: 3-4 now. ;) Kante4 (talk) 19:46, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ahhh ok, will watch Highlights when they bacome available somewhere... Kante4 (talk) 19:06, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, only Eurosport2 shows some matches tonight, but i can´t get it. I will watch the Ticker for the other matches too i think. ;) Kante4 (talk) 19:10, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thats great! Good work finding that, I just made a few changes to the page. It's good to see so many teams competing as well. I guess it's due to the Asian Beach Games. TurboGUY (talk) 02:04, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually no, I have been unable to watch the games :( I've only found out the scores via facebook. If you do find a way to watch them it would be great if you could let me know. TurboGUY (talk) 15:08, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just to let you know, beachsoccer.com have said they have satellite issues and are unable to broadcast the games :( TurboGUY (talk) 17:10, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, in the UK we have three main sports channels, Sky Sports, ESPN and Eurosport. Sky and ESPN both have more important things to show than Beach soccer, it seems, but I remember in 2009 Eurosport aired the world cup games. Unfortunately I've checked their schedule and they won't be showing the games. So no luck there :( What did you mean by the Oman TV feed is 'stable' but 'blurry'??? AFC stuff

edit

Not surprising to be honest TurboGUY (talk) 13:34, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Definitely. Just wish I knew their full names when I update the top scorers list :/ TurboGUY (talk) 15:25, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Exactly what I was thinking. Of what I have seen, CONMEBOL does have a beach soccer championship section on their website but they haven't updated it since 2008. UEFA has a beach soccer section, but it only contains the rules etc. And CAF really don't care, the only thing I found was the 2008 results, just the scores, nothing else in a very simple web page. TurboGUY (talk) 16:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
This user, User:Mohsen1248, is really messing up the format of the page. He's adding some full names of some players to some of the teams but not all and not updating the top scorers list to reflect his changes. I don't know where he's getting his information from either, he hasn't referenced it, but considering the match report comes from BSWW, I think we should name the players the way they have. What do you think, should I undo his work? To be honest, I might just do it anyway but I wanted to hear your thoughts. The goal scorers underneath each game, after all, should only show their second name. TurboGUY (talk) 20:16, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes we should ask him, however he needs to understand that full names should not be displayed for the goal scorers underneath a result. I was just going on what BSWW says myself, with the names that is. So to clarify - you want me to undo what he as done, yes? TurboGUY (talk) 20:39, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

AFC Wiki page changes

edit

Yes, I've reverted his edits and alerted him on how things are usually done. Like you said, we have enough experience now to know how things work. I also asked him for a link to the squads if he has them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see and if he doesn't provide a link, we'll keep using the names BSWW uses :) TurboGUY (talk) 23:54, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I know! He claims he's making the page the standard of association football pages but I don't agree. He gave me some references but they were all in Arabic, plus they weren't squad lists, when translated, just a few names popped up here and there. I suggest we let him do what he's doing, and after the tournament is finished, tidy it up properly then when he isn't visiting the page. TurboGUY (talk) 15:25, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, how the hell did Syria qualify! They never won a game whereas Iraq in group A did! Makes no sense! :S TurboGUY (talk) 15:31, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see. Still, quite unfair on Iraq. TurboGUY (talk) 16:04, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I know, its been a real pain. I guess we will have to leave the names, we don't have much choice, but yeah, we'll change everything else when we need to. TurboGUY (talk) 10:47, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
By the way, considering Oman have qualified for a world cup, I've been looking for a squad list to build a page with. It was very difficult, there doesn't seem to be any information on any of the Asian beach teams but I eventually found a squad list on a newspaper website. Most of the names seem to match the names that that guy has used on the AFC qualifying page, but there weren't any squad names or positions, just their names. Shame really, all the squads of the teams at the Asian Beach Games were on the Asian Beach Games official website but that seems to of crashed :/ TurboGUY (talk) 16:40, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
You should probably know, we shouldn't change anything on the AFC page for a few days, the Iranian guy kindly told me the page is on his watchlist. TurboGUY (talk) 22:50, 4 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mundialito de Clubes stuff

edit

Hey :) I was just going though the new squad page you've built and was wondering a few things:

1)The term 'roster', is extremely North American, it's something you'd never hear in Europe or Asia. Considering the page itself is named 2011 Mundialito de Clubes squds, should any mention of 'roster/s' be changed to squad/s. I'm not trying to criticise you I was just seeing what you thought.
2)If you/me find out the shirt numbers/positions of the players in the future, should the squad page be changed to a more traditional layout used on club and national teams' pages? I actually like the way you've done it to be honest but if we did find out that information, the current layout wouldn't work :(

Anyway they're just a few things to think about, looks like it should be a good tournament :) TurboGUY (talk) 23:38, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why you've undone my edits :/ Barcelona are never known as FC Barcelona, the same with other clubs with 'FC' in their title. You might want to check out the 2010-11 UEFA Champions League to see what I mean, especially about Barca. TurboGUY (talk) 22:30, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:21, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ye, I've seen that site before but since it only stated teams and no other info I wasn't sure whether it was legitimate. But since we've got nothing else to go on I guess that'll do for now. TurboGUY (talk) 16:51, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Recalling

edit

You were reverting without even explaining... what do you want me to think?? But seriously, if you call them Sporting Lisbon, they will take off your head, even UEFA had to change it recently. Tibullus call me 20:15, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

BTW, do you think a new page regarding the Mundialito de Clubes can be made? One that will focus on all the tournaments overall, how the teams can qualify, like the UEFA Champions League or FIFA World Cup page? I'm really interested in this competition. Reply to my talk page please. Cheers! Tibullus call me 20:41, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry man, no harm taken. I think there are some inaccuracies regarding the top goalscorers count, I'm trying to see what I can do, if you notice any errors, please do edit them. Tibullus call me 20:54, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I can find streams for you, but they'll be talking in portuguese. I'm a beach soccer fan ever since they started broadcasting matches here, way back in 1998-1999, so you can see how amazed I am at this tournament. A lovely surprise. The highest point of all the matches I've seen was when we (Portugal) defeated Brazil in 2001 for the World Cup in the semi finals. I think Sporting are favourites for this, they have Madjer, Alan and Belchior. Tibullus call me 21:14, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sporting played really bad plus Madjer was injured, Alan and Belchior were equally unrecognizable. Vasco were fair winners, although I still feel that in the right conditions Sporting wouldn't give them a chance. Tibullus call me 14:06, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm looking forward to the World Cup. If we get our players to recover until September, we might go to the final with Brazil. A Portugal vs Brazil match is always the tournament's highlight, even if they play in earlier rounds. Madjer is getting old and the competition is now on a 2-year basis. He'll want to win it more than ever now. Tibullus call me 14:42, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm still here! :p

Hey! Sorry for not responding to some of your posts recently but I've had a lot of work to do since the end of the AFC qualifiers and haven't had much time to sit down and get back into beach soccer. I'm pretty gutted that I missed the Mundialito de Clubes! Anyway, I've still got a lot of work to do and I know I will until literally the day the CAF qualifiers start :( I'll try and do stuff when I can but until then I'll have to leave you to do most of it I'm afraid. It would still be nice if you could keep telling my updates on stuff though, thanks! :) TurboGUY (talk) 00:13, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

New CAF info

edit

I've had some free time on my hands so I thought I'd have a look at what's going on. The main thing I found is a more reliable source regarding the African nations participating in next month's qualifiers: http://www.radioalgerie.dz/fr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10207:mondial-de-beach-soccer-lalgerie-participera-a-casablanca-aux-eliminatoires-africaines-&catid=34:football&Itemid=137 Its from an Algerian site so it's in French. I've updated the qualifiers page. TurboGUY (talk) 13:34, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey! My workload has finally come to an end so I can turn my attention back to beach soccer, although I am going on holiday next week and will miss the CAF final :( Just thought I'd comment on the draw. Seems pretty even although I wouldn't want to be Algeria in group C. That will be tough up against Senegal and the Ivory Coast TurboGUY (talk) 12:23, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hey, just checking the results out and I'm a bit confused. Do you have a squad list? Because the players who scored for Madagascar are named differently on beachsoccer.com than how you have named them. How do you know their surnames, or at least, their real names instead of the ones they are known by? TurboGUY (talk) 00:47, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Do you mind giving me a link to the squad list? I'm making the pages the for Libya, Algeria and Madagascar team. I have a squad list for the other two but not Madagascar :/ TurboGUY (talk) 12:03, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

There's a few things I need to reply to. Try and answer back to all of them if you can :)

World Cup Draw Hmmm, very interesting draw. Seems a bit unfair that the winner of the UEFA, CONCACAF, AFC and CONMEBOL qualifiers all meet each other in one group. I wonder how that happened :p

Anyway, I'm probably going to be wrong but I think that Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, CONMEBOL 2, Russia, either CONMEBOL 3 or Nigeria and Brazil (may as well accept they'll win the qualifiers :p) will make it though. I really can't decide between Japan, Mexico or the Ukraine - it's too close to call. I can't wait to see that group progress!

Just as a side note - do we really need that 'Groups' section on the page? I think its pretty easy to see who's in what group when you scroll down the page and its not on any of the other world cup pages. Other than that, good job!

The Iranian guy Sorry, I must of mis-read something. I thought you'd already made contact with him asking him to get back to us :S No wonder we hadn't heard from him :p

CONMEBOL info Yep, it's crazy. Europe and South America, who appear to be interested the most in beach soccer don't bother to put something on their websites. I don't understand either.

Phew, I hope you got all that :p TurboGUY (talk) 16:55, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm pretty sure his Arabic response would have been some sort of insult. He seems like a very suborn man who rejects other peoples opinions. Hopefully we can eventually sort this all out TurboGUY (talk) 21:21, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

2011 EBSL

edit

Gutted for Germany. I was really hoping they would win today :( TurboGUY (talk) 23:22, 10 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Lookin' good :) Do we know who will be in Division B in stage 4? I'm guessing the Netherlands must be but I can't work out who else. TurboGUY (talk) 12:08, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

EBSL stage 4

edit

Good to see a TV channel getting involved I guess. However I can't see England doing very well. With the Netherlands on home turf, or should I say sand, as well as England's poor record against Greece, I can't see the team coming close to winning a game, unfortunately. TurboGUY (talk) 23:14, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I also found that stream. It was odd hearing that commentator commentating on beach soccer, usually he just commentates on your average football match in the Premier League. Anyhow, he may of got his wires crossed, but I guess that makes sense to make the bottom two teams drop, instead of picking the best runner-up in one of the Division B stages to take the sixth place in the promotion play off. Although, that would make it very difficult for the Division B teams to get promoted, considering they'll have to go up against to Division A teams if they want to get promoted.
Nevertheless, I've never understood why the two divisions can't act like any normal football leagues do. I.e. the bottom two teams would be relegated from Division A, whilst the top 6 teams in Division B play in the promotional final and the two finalists get promoted, without the Division A teams having a chance to defend their places in Div. A. If this happened, they could even start a Division C - Anyway thats just my idea. What do you think? If the made any sense :S For me, the EBSL needs a bit of a shake up. Then again, they're always changing the format around - they can never decide on how to format it.
I don't really know about giving the losing team one point. I mean yeah, sure, makes sense, but we're talking about changing a major part of the sport here. TurboGUY (talk) 23:46, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Will you continue to update the results from the Euro League ? Aleksanderpc (talk) 14:02, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I meant to update the livescore for the Portugal v Poland match Aleksanderpc (talk) 14:07, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
When a player score more than one goal don't use the goal template twice ot three times... use this   2', 4' --> goal|2||4, not   2',   4' --> goal|2, goal|4... and for the awards in the brackets don't use the flag of the country, put the name, or put the flag before the name Aleksanderpc (talk) 14:50, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, but this is the way that all matches are posted Aleksanderpc (talk) 15:00, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Day 1

edit

England getting beat - no surprise there then :p TurboGUY (talk) 22:06, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Poor CONMEBOL coverage

edit

This is really frustrating. I can't believe the lack of coverage with these qualifiers! And what you said about the overlap of matches between the CONMEBOL qualifiers and the EBSL - I guess it won't matter now unless BSWW get a grip - and fast! TurboGUY (talk) 20:56, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, despite the lack of coverage - what a shock!!! I can't believe that Uruguay have been knocked out. It'll be the first time ever that they haven't competed in the world cup! I guess they can join Spain in that group of surprise results. TurboGUY (talk) 21:43, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Typical, the day I don't check for the stream they have one! TurboGUY (talk) 22:21, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

EBSL and CONMEBOL

edit

Yeah, I guess BSWW deserve some credit for once :p

Got to hand it to Switzerland today; they did everything they needed to do perfectly.

As for this Meitar95 - what's he been up to? Messing anything up? TurboGUY (talk) 15:56, 6 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fitting yes, but I think whoever finishes bottom in Division A should automatically be relegated, guaranteeing a sport for a Division B team in Division A the following season. I think its a stupid system that potentially means no team from Divison B could ever be promoted :/ TurboGUY (talk) 16:25, 6 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well that's that then. All in all, a good couple of months with the EBSL and the CONMEBOL qualifiers. Looking forward to the World Cup now :D TurboGUY (talk) 23:38, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Keep an eye open...

edit

Just keep an eye on this IP address - 67.116.237.179. They've been making a few edits on beach soccer pages, some are fine, but some are just plainly wrong - I'll fix his mistakes soon. Also, this guy --> Jab7842 has split the main qualification page for CONACAF and CONMEBOL into two separate pages - do you thing that's OK? TurboGUY (talk) 21:18, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

World Cup...

edit

No problem, thanks for updating the squads. Btw, do you know what a Pivot and a Wing player are? I.e. which one is a midfielder and which one is a forward...they're terms I've never heard of before. Or are they both just classed as forwards? :S TurboGUY (talk) 23:44, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

No. I've never seen them used in football terms before, but even given that, I believe I was able to tell the difference between what they used and what we're used to.
I believe the pivots are the strikers (forwards) and the wingers are the midfielders. It was relatively easy to make that kind of connection. Caperspark (talk) 12:16, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah ok, stupid me :p I was just a little confused, since on beachsoccer.com, on the teams' pages, they only list players as being either defenders or strikers. TurboGUY (talk) 21:52, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, we've done a lot of waiting, but it's finally here! When does the first game kick off in Canada? TurboGUY (talk)
Yep, that's what I'm afraid of :/ But hey, it happens every year, we'll deal with it. Kick off for the first game is at 2.30pm here. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to miss it but I'll catch up later in the day :) TurboGUY (talk) 00:09, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well that's dumb. But yeah, it must only be Europe because I can watch the games fine :/ Have you tried - http://www.sportlemon.tv/ ? You may have to look through a few before you find one TurboGUY (talk) 17:17, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the way you formatted the matches, it's just that I've worked on the 2008 and 2009 World Cups when they happened so I've changed the way you did it a little to match how those pages were stylised, plus the reports are the links to the web pages, not the PDFs. Hope you understand that :) TurboGUY (talk) 21:50, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

As crazy as day 1 was, what about day 2, huh!?!? Brazil almost beaten and Tahiti beating Venezuela! What a day! TurboGUY (talk) 23:20, 2 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Goal scorers

edit

If I'm totally honest, I'm going to have to agree with the newbie. Considering the section is called top scorers, I think there should be a reference to the main article you've made on all the goal scorers. For now, from those who have scored 2 or more goals, that should be on the World Cup page.

Plus, I don't think that the sections on the goal scorers' page that just say 'none' should be there, since by the end of the tournament, the likes of Madjer will of scored around 20 goals, and whoever wins the silver-ball will have scored something like 14 goals, which leaves 6 sections on the page saying none. TurboGUY (talk) 19:32, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yellow, Red cards

edit

Well I don't want to keep telling you that you're wrong when you make changes to the page :/ but again if I'm honest, I don't think they should be there. They're not on any other World Cup page or on any regular football page and because they're in the goals section, it does make it look a bit cluttered. Yellow and red cards are usually only added on the page about the final because it adds extra information to that page.

However, on FIFA World Cup pages, there is usually a section on discipline like in 2010, 2010 FIFA World Cup disciplinary record. The page is very detailed but if you want to start a page similar to this, I can help you out making it worthwhile :) Just take a look :p TurboGUY (talk) 13:09, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Onto the knockout stage!

edit

No problem with the disciple page! Unfortunately, I've got quite a bit of work to do this week but I'll help out as much as I can - and work is exactly what I'll be doing on the rest day :/ As for Eurosport, I'm almost certain they start their World Cup coverage once the quarter finals start. I don't know why they miss out the group stage matches :S TurboGUY (talk) 23:35, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, what a shock. Who would've thought that El Salvador would've made it so far! Mind you, I can't see Russia throwing an opportunity like this away. Brazil have looked weaker than they have done in recent years throughout the tournament, and as much as I am amazed by their brilliance in the sport, I sure hope that Portugal beat them. I want to see a different winner for once! Btw, sorry for my lack of work on the page. I'm swamped with work and I find it hard to find time to edit the page :/ TurboGUY (talk) 23:22, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

2011 World Cup

edit

Hi again, are you enjoying the tournament so far? That was an awful game we had against Senegal earlier... Tibullus call me 18:16, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I doubt Russia will give them a chance, but hey, Italy lost against them... Brazil is not very strong this year it seems, we might have a chance, but this Senegal game was very disappointed. Apart of it, all other Portuguese games have been perfect. I just wish Alan could go back to his top form, he's playing very bad. He would be very useful against a what-it-seems Portugal vs Brazil semi-final. Maybe we can win like we did this year in the Mundialito hehe Tibullus call me 18:33, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Beach soccer has taken a step above, my friend, and that what-it-seemed to be semi-final is not so. Nigeria is winning, but noone can be sure until the clocks ticks. I overestimated Brazil there, it is due to our endless battles against them for over 15 years now. I don't really care who comes after Senegal, I think we'll beat whoever it is anyway, I hope... Tibullus call me 18:47, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's why I love beach soccer, it only ends in the dieing seconds and it is getting so unpredictable, like basketball. The pace, the shots, the plays, the acrobatic overhead kicks, etc Tibullus call me 18:57, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Our player, Jordan, is suspended, at least our commentators were talking about it when he got a yellow card this last game. Can you get information on that? Tibullus call me 19:45, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
You can see the games on a Portuguese channel called RTP2, you might find a stream somewhere. I probably got the names all mixed up. Yeah, I can't wait for that match too. I think we'll beat them this time. It is noteworthy that the only times Brazil didn't win, it was us who eliminated them, and it was when the World Cup was being held in Brazil every year. Curiously it was in the semi-finals too, let this be a prelude for Saturday's match! Tibullus call me 21:30, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Portugal v Brazil

Hey! Are you ready? :P Who's your favourite? 94.132.90.14 (talk) 16:02, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oops, forgot to login Tibullus call me 16:02, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I doubt Portugal will underestimate Brazil like they did with Senegal. The few times we did it, it ended up with one-sided results for Brazil, the same can be said on reverse. I think it will be a great match, I do not wish it to go on penalties. Tibullus call me 16:10, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Darn it! We always mess things up in the 2nd and 3rd period. We should have scored at least 3 goals in the 1st. Brazil simply outplayed us from the first half time onwards. Tibullus call me 17:34, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Tough question, I won't cheer for any since we're left out, but I guess that if any team were to be world champion, it had to be a team playing at its best, so Russia. Still I'd bet my money on Brazil, especially since they just dominated us, and I doubt any team besides Brazil would do that to us. What about you? Tibullus call me 17:48, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

2012 EBSL and WC qualifiers

edit

Well at least we know the details, nice work with the page. I'm guessing there's only 3 stages because of the WC qualifiers in-between. Also, I had a thought before which came to mind when I saw that you had added the qualifying rounds section to the 2013 WC page. Since Tahiti are from Oceania, and qualify automatically as the hosts, will there be an Oceanian qualification tournament? I mean, you know how it works, the host continent loses one spot in the qualifiers; well Oceania only get one berth anyway! That means there's no sport to compete for since Tahiti already have it. If that made sense, what do you think? TurboGUY (talk) 20:11, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Shockers!

edit

Wow, wow, wow. Italy and Switzerland out!? And of all teams, Portugal too! I never could've guessed it. But personally I think the format of the World Cup is outdated now. Since 2005 the sport has grown rapidly and the quality of teams, especially those in Europe has increased dramatically and I think only having 16 teams in the finals is too few now. I think FIFA needs to increase it to 24. After all, only 4 teams can qualify for Tahiti from Europe when the majority of beach soccer talent comes from there and its a shame to see so many teams miss out.

I think that if there were 24 teams, about 8 teams should qualify from Europe. I mean, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and even the likes of the Netherlands or France all deserve a chance at the World Cup. What d'ya think? TurboGUY (talk) 21:46, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I'm not a massive fan of how they've done things. I guess they just want to shake it up a little.

CAF qualifiers

edit

Yep, two good tournaments in the space of just two weeks! I'm really disappointed in BSWW's lack of coverage on the CAF qualifiers though. I don't get why there's been no news despite it being so close. And now I've found this article saying that nine teams are taking part and that the draw's already been done http://www.gbcghana.com/index.php?id=1.1388760 Who know's what's really going on! OFC qualifiers

edit

So you've probably noticed that the OFC qualifiers haven't started :/ I don't know if you know anything but from what I can see there is essentially no information on the net about it apart from a solo French article published on the 30th. Poorly translated through Google I think it says that New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu were due to play, possibly even in Vanuatu instead of Papeete, however it turns out the pitch wasn't the right dimensions and there was no room to expand in time hence they moved the venue to a local university.

Furthermore due to weather and other tournaments scheduled there, that looks like it won't happen either! The article finished by basically saying that no-one has a clue what's going to happen now and that there's major concern that this close to the World Cup itself the qualifiers won't be held in time. What a shame. Here's the article if you want to have a go at decoding it better :p http://www.lnc.nc/article/football/les-sables-mouvants TurboGUY (talk) 02:12, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Finally some proper news! I've updated the page as best as I can for now. The article pretty much speaks for itself >> http://www.rnzi.com/pages/news.php?op=read&id=78109 TurboGUY (talk) 01:44, 7 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Surely not...

Hey, please stop removing the links to the national football federation like you did here, here and so on. Also don't "space" the scores, thanks. Kante4 (talk) 15:37, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
