American Liberalism

I have some objections to the category 'American Liberalism' vs. 'Modern American Liberalism' The former argues for the inclusion of classical liberal figures in to the American Liberalism page. DO you think it warrants debating whether american liberalism should include the American Libertarian party movement and Milton Friedman as examples of a reactionary liberalism? Not sure what you mean by "category." Are you saying you object to having two seperate articles? An article on American liberalism would of course include classical liberalism. American liberalism isn't confined to welfare liberalism. Classical liberalism has had a revival in America starting in the 1980's. Milton Friedman is a classical liberal. There is debate whether libertarianism is the same as classical liberalism. Some scholars say there are some differences but in any case they are very similar and libertarianism has definitely been influenced by classical liberalism. C-Liberal 23:15, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

I tend to be leaning toward the belief that 'American classical liberalism' is libertarianism and that 'classical liberalism' is more lingua franca. As for the rest of what I said I must have been drunk. Mrdthree 06:01, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
