Brhaspati
Hello, this is a very nice image, but it seems to have some kind of blotch in the extreme bottom left corner. This is particularly visible in the article Shrikhande graph. Can this be removed? ssepp(talk) 14:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh..it is a spider with 'pajek'. Is it really necessary? ssepp(talk) 16:47, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply - I don't login regularly. I had created the image with Pajek, a graph-drawing program. I am uploading a new version of the SVG with the spider logo removed. -- Brhaspati\talk/contribs 18:25, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Maps
editHello, Brhaspati. I know you had altered the WWII map to fix problems with color-blindess. I thought you might also want to take a look at Image:WWI-re.png, which is essentially the same map with the same problem, for WWI. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 17:50, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining the problems with the colors. I didn't know what the specific problem was between the colors of the WWII map, so I assumed the WWI map had the same issue. In any case, I didn't create the WWII map, I just uploaded a correct version after the map had been changed in a controversial manner without the editor seeking consensus first, but that's another story. So no offense taken, I'm all for positive contributions to Wikipedia, whether I created something or not. I suppose all is well here then :) Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 04:39, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Saarang.2005.orangestreet.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Saarang.2005.orangestreet.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

- What is this bull? The second version from the page history clearly shows the permission to be Original image at Kiruba Shankar's blog. Copyright terms read "©1997 - 2004 Kiruba.com. Take whatever you want!". Except that this was changed by some user named Prasad ichal to point it to his own Picasa page which claims "all rights reserved". This is a matter to be sorted out between Prasad ichal and Kiruba Shankar. -- Brhaspati\talk/contribs 00:07, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

There's a discussion on the talk page of GLSquare about removing your nice big, huge, list of solutions to the problem. I'll suggest that it greatly be reduced, as two others have already. The problem is that this is the largest non-list, non-olympics article on Wikipedia, and yes, size does matter. In any case you are invited to join the discussion. AfD nomination of Madras Tamil
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Madras Tamil. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Madras Tamil. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Iitm.oat.scrn.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Iitm.oat.scrn.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:23, 19 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 23:23, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Chennai.ranganathanst.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Chennai.ranganathanst.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 00:36, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Note, if you did create this file, you may want to upload it to Wikimedia Commons, which will allow the image to be accessed by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (which include the various localized versions of Wikipedia)
If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 22:00, 6 May 2010 (UTC)The article Culfest has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Hey Brhaspati,
I'm David from Israel, and I have a small question for you.
I saw the image rendering the output of a RANDU number generator.
It says it's a Matlab plot done by you.
I was wondering if I could please have a copy of this Matlab file?
It is not for any commercial, or even academic purposes - only for the sake of trying, and messing with Matlab a bit.
Many thanks,
David

Speedy deletion nomination of FreeCAD (disambiguation)
editA tag has been placed on FreeCAD (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
