File:Minnesota Senate Recount.jpg
editHey Brash, I uploaded a version of Minnesota Senate Recount.jpg that skewed the original image so that it appears level, and makes it clearer to see what the problem is, but you reverted. Don't you find that my version is more clear? JeffyP (talk) 16:29, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm glad you were able to get back to me. There were a few things I didn't like about the skewing of the photograph: first, the ugly black triangles on either side were really distracting from the photograph itself. Second, the skewing actually makes the photograph look blurrier than it did before. Third, if we really need to mutilate the photograph that much to make it clear, then perhaps we should just get a new photograph.
- I understand the need for a clear photograph of a ballot challenge, but when I took this photograph, this was seriously the best shot I could get (the elections director had instructed all election judges to cover up any ballot challenges, so I couldn't photograph them - I got this one right before it got covered).
- Anyways, thanks for getting in touch with me. Brash (talk) 18:53, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ya, I can understand that it still wasn't that clear. I only had access to Microsoft Paint and Irfanview when I edited it, so I'm not too surprised when it came out blurry (although I thought it was somewhat more legible than the original). I was gonna give a proper go with Photoshop later, and I'll upload it under a different name first, and let you judge if it's better or not. In either case, I can imagine that it was a difficult angle you were working with, and something is better than nothing! JeffyP (talk) 19:53, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, looks like there's no point in working on it now, as you replaced it with a much clearer image. JeffyP (talk) 16:06, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

editWhere did you get this scan of the ballot? You say that the secretary of state scanned them in, but I can't find them currently on the Secretary of State page [1]. I'd also appreciate confirmation that this was released into the public domain, as I'm having trouble finding any documentation of this. The reason I ask it that I'd like to upload a lot of these challenged ballots to Commons, but would like to know both where you got the file, and if it is truly Public Domain. Thank You.
