Deletion notices

Hi, when nominating any page for deletion, including a redirect or a template, you must place a notice on that page advertising the deletion discussion. The instructions for each deletion venue tell you how exactly this is done, for example for RfD this is WP:RFD#HOWTO. It is also expected that you'll notify the creator and any substantial contributors to the page, ideally by notices on their user talk pages. Thanks! – Uanfala (talk) 14:40, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

@Uanfala: I'm not aloud to edit templates per WP:RESTRICT and some stupid edits I made, User:Primefac would have to make an exception. BrandonXLF (t@lk) 15:08, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
Well, at least this restriction doesn't apply to redirects. And as for templates, if you're topic banned from editing any, then I'm not sure I see how it follows you could be allowed to nominate them for deletion. If you do get an explicit exemption, however, please make sure you're also allowed to place the notices. – Uanfala (talk) 15:29, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2019 January 14#Template:Mli

Hey, could you explain to me what exactly was the result of Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2019 January 14#Template:Mli? I'm not sure what is being merged into what. --Gonnym (talk) 15:30, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

@Gonnym: It should be to move Template:Mli to Template:Ml (plus talk & sub-pages) and to move Template:Mlix to Template:Mlx (plus talk & sub-pages). BrandonXLF (t@lk) 21:00, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
@Gonnym: And to use Module:Module link. BrandonXLF (t@lk) 21:05, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
I don't see Template:Ml mentioned in that discussion anywhere. Also, could you add documentation to the module you created? It doesn't explain what it expects. --Gonnym (talk) 21:11, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
My bad, the full form of Template:Ml is Template:Module link. BrandonXLF (t@lk) 21:15, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

File:Canada computers logo.png

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Proposed deletion of File:Red-arrow.png

The file File:Red-arrow.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Suggested edit for page

Hi, Brandon

I work for Interogo Holding, a swiss-based investment business. I am reaching out to you as I would like to contribute with some updated information to a page. However understanding that my employment constitutes a conflict of interest I thought it would be best to share updated information with an active editor of the specific page. As stated, i work for Interogo Holding and I can see that you have created most of the content on the Interogo Holding wikipage. As I looked through the pages related to Interogo Holding, I understand that you also had contributed a lot to the page of our owner, Interogo Foundation. As I review the Interogo Foundation page I realize that this page is in need of some updates, as some of the information has become outdated and inaccurate. If ok with you, I would like to share my suggestions/input for potential updates for you to consider. Would this be ok?

Looking forward to hear from you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MVB831316 (talkcontribs) 06:57, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

@MVB831316: Sounds good to me, just let me know what your suggestions are, I'd also like sources/citations for any information you give me, if you don't have any I can try to find some myself, but it'd be easier if you could provide them for me. I was also looking to update the chart on the right. Some other people have made changes to it, but I'm not 100% if they're correct, since you have more knowledge then me about the companies in the chart, I was wondering if you have any feedback or corrections to make. I look forward to seeing what suggestion you have. (also end every comment you make with ~~~~) BrandonXLF (t@lk) 20:22, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

Needed update of Interogo Foundation’s Wikipedia site https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Interogo_Foundation

1. Segment in need of edit: “It owns Inter IKEA Holding S.A. registered in Luxembourg, which owns Inter IKEA Systems B.V., registered in the Netherlands, and thereby controls the intellectual property of the IKEA brand”.

Suggested input for edit: a. Since 2016, there is no entity Inter IKEA Holding S.A. registered in Luxembourg. In May 2016, the structure of the former Inter IKEA Group was changed. There are now two separate groups, each with their own holding company, board and management. Interogo Holding AG in Switzerland is the holding company of the investment businesses. Inter IKEA Holding B.V. in the Netherlands is the holding company of the IKEA related businesses. Both groups are owned by Interogo Foundation, based in Liechtenstein. This development has been widely reported, for example by:

Financial Times, December 18th, 2017 https://www.ft.com/content/d332c7a0-e3fb-11e7-97e2-916d4fbac0da

“Ikea has simplified recently Ikea has somewhat simplified its complex structure in recent years through several restructurings. In 2016, Ikea Group sold sister company Inter Ikea all of the manufacturing, supply chain, and product range businesses associated with the flatpack furniture retailer. Inter Ikea financed the deal with a €3.4bn loan from its parent company.

That means the relationship between Inter Ikea and Ikea Group mirrors a traditional franchisor-franchisee arrangement. The twist, however, is that few companies have to deal with such a large franchisee as Ikea Group. That retailer runs close to 90 per cent of Ikea stores around the world. Ikea Group managers said the deal would allow them to concentrate purely on dealing with customers, an increasingly varied assignment as shoppers purchase online as well as at the company’s vast out-of-town warehouses.

At the same time as that deal closed, Inter Ikea also changed its structure. Previously it was a hotchpotch of assets that included the Ikea brand but also a diverse array of investments. Those investment activities have now ended up in Interogo Holding, a Swiss company that is owned by the same Liechtenstein foundation as Inter Ikea, and they consist of three strands: property assets such as hotels and student housing in countries including the UK and Poland through a company known as Vastint; ownership of small and medium-sized Nordic companies through Nalka; and a Luxembourg-based fund management firm.”

b. The intellectual property of the IKEA brand is owned by Inter IKEA Systems B.V., a subsidiary of Inter IKEA Holding B.V. Please visit the Inter IKEA website to read more on its operation: https://inter.ikea.com/en/about-us/business-in-brief/

2. Segment in need of edit: “Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, and his family control the Interogo Foundation”. Suggested input for edit: The source https://www.svt.se/ug/ingvar-kamprad-bekraftar-stiftelsen-i-mejl-till-tt. is dated to 2011. Since then, the governance of Interogo Foundation has been changed making the claim that Ingvar Kamprad, or his family, control Interogo Foundation, a historical claim not relevant or accurate today. The Kamprad family do not control Interogo Foundation. The foundation statues mandate, that the family of Ingvar Kamprad, the creator of IKEA, should be offered the opportunity to engage in the Supervisory Council (Beirat) of Interogo Foundation over generations, but always in minority.

Since Ingvar Kamprad resigned from the Supervisory Council in 2013, successors of outgoing members of the Advisory Council are appointed through nomination from the outgoing member followed by vote among the members of the Advisory Council.

Ingvar Kamprad, his descendants and their spouses and life companions are irrevocably excluded from all direct and indirect benefit, without recompense. Interogo Foundation is an enterprise foundation (Unternehmensstiftung) with legal personality under Liechtenstein law. It is a self-owned entity, and there is no and cannot be any individual beneficiary. Funds held by the foundation can only be used in accordance with the foundation’s purpose clause: to secure the independence and the longevity of the IKEA Concept, and to own and govern Inter IKEA Group. Interogo Foundation may also make donations to certain philanthropic causes.

Please visit https://www.interogofoundation.com/foundation-governance/ to read more on the governance of Interogo Foundation. The role of Ingvar Kamprad in Interogo Foundation (post 2013) is also referenced in media, for example:

Reuters, October 18th, 2016 https://www.reuters.com/article/ikea-leadership/mathias-kamprad-steps-down-as-chairman-of-ikea-brand-owner-idUSL8N1CO2WX “Ingvar, 90, who resigned as CEO in 1986, gave up formal power over IKEA as late as 2013 when he resigned from and renounced the right to appoint members to the supervisory council of the Interogo Foundation which owns Inter IKEA.”

Financial Times, May 4th, 2014 https://www.ft.com/content/dbd7bfa0-d1f3-11e3-8ff4-00144feabdc0 “Mr Kamprad, who earlier this year moved back to Sweden after decades of tax exile in Switzerland, stepped down from the boards of these two foundations late in 2013 but the news was not publicized until now. He resigned from Inter Ikea’s board in June”.

3. Segment in need of edit: “Appo Trust The members of Interogo Foundation can be appointed or replaced by the Appo Trust based in Ontario, Canada, or by an equal trust created by the Interogo Foundation. Appo Trust is currently controlled by the Kamprad family.[4][5]”

Suggested input for edit: The above segment is based on historical conditions which are no longer applicable. Appo Trust in Canada historically had the right to appoint members of the Foundation Council of Interogo Foundation, but not today. Since Ingvar Kamprad resigned from the Supervisory Council in 2013, successors of outgoing members of the Advisory Council are appointed through nomination from the outgoing member followed by vote among the members of the Advisory Council. Please visit https://www.interogofoundation.com/foundation-governance/ to read more on the governance of Interogo Foundation.

4. Segment in need of edit: “Governance” “The foundation board has at least two members, who were originally lawyers Herbert Oberhuber and Johannes Burger. The foundation may be changed into a company or a trust if circumstances have changed so that this is in the foundation's interests. Meetings of the board are announced by the president of the foundation.[3]” Suggested input for edit: This is not a correct representation of the founding statutes or governance of Interogo Foundation. The description of how the foundation can be changed is not correct. Please visit the https://www.interogofoundation.com/foundation-governance/perpetual-existence/ regarding how the foundation could be changed and to read more on the governance of Interogo Foundation. You can also read more on the governance of Interogo Foundation in a case study conducted by Professor Steen Thomsen at Copenhagen Business School. Please see link to this publication: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3243347

5. Input for the organizational chart An updated organizational chart was included in the above-mentioned case study conducted by Professor Steen Thomsen at Copenhagen Business School, Center for Corporate Governance. The organizational chart is on page 3.

Please be aware, Interogo Treasury AG do not exist anymore. Since the case study was published, Interogo Treasury AG has been integrated into Interogo Foundation. Today, Interogo Foundation has two subsidiaries, Inter IKEA Holding B.V. and Interogo Holding AG. This information is available on Interogo Foundations website: https://www.interogofoundation.com/assets-and-businesses/the-businesses-owned-by-interogo-foundation/.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Pages using infobox time zone

A tag has been placed on Category:Pages using infobox time zone requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Suggested edit for page Interogo Foundation

Hi Brandon,

Sorry for the slow update to my contact regarding the need for an update of facts on the Interogo Foundation site. As I mentioned back in August, I have identified a number of facts that are incorrect or have become historic information, not relevant today. Please see below my input regarding suggested updates.

“Ikea has simplified recently

Ikea has somewhat simplified its complex structure in recent years through several restructurings.

3. Segment in need of edit: “Appo Trust "The members of Interogo Foundation can be appointed or replaced by the Appo Trust based in Ontario, Canada, or by an equal trust created by the Interogo Foundation.

Meetings of the board are announced by the president of the foundation.[3]”

Suggested input for edit: This is not a correct representation of the founding statutes or governance of Interogo Foundation.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts. Please get back to me should you have any questions!

Edits

Hi Brandon-

This is not lathan. All i was trying to do was add legitimate citations as he has tons of them. Nothing i added was false or inaccurate. Also, i am not being paid to do this. My being a novice at wikipedia i did my best to follow protocol. I worked very hard on adding this content. Can you explain to me why you removed it all? It’s all 100 percent accurate. Why are there templates claiming citations are needed if you can’t add any? This upset me very much. I just wasted so much time trying to do this properly. Do you have something against this person? I read that wiki welcomes factual information. This is all factual. Thanks;( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natureofnight (talkcontribs) 18:48, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, I have nothing against you or this person, it's just some of the content seems unencyclopedic and it seemed better to revert it until it can be fixed. The revert can be easily undone. I just figured based on this that you are Lathan McKay. Do you have any affiliation with Lathan McKay? For now, I'll see if I can add back some of the citations. I can understand how upset you are, but I just want to verify that the article remains encyclopedic and non-bias. BrandonXLF (talk) 20:24, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
Natureofnight, Upon further inspection, the main issue with your edits is that there are way too many references for too large of an area. You should use the references besides the specific text they are for and not at the end of the paragraph. I also recommend you remove your changes to the infobox. I recreated your changes at User:Natureofnight/sandbox so we can fix them up so they can be published in the main article. BrandonXLF (talk) 20:45, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank You

Brandon.

Thanks! I wasn’t aware of the sandbox. That makes much more sense. Apologies for being a wiki neophyte andi coming off as irritable. I was trying to do everything by the rules but as you know this can be quite a learning experience. It’s actually very fascinating.

Really appreciate your understanding and guidance in making it accurate. I looked at a few other pages to try and follow the citation placements. Excuse the brevity. Was driving and pulled over. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natureofnight (talkcontribs) 21:41, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, no problem. Be user to look at WP:OVERKILL because having 10 refs in a row is way too much. Besides that, the article actually seems fine. For now, I'm going to added {{Excessive citations}} to the sandbox version. I've also made a few changes to the sandbox version. I think there's a template to show any extra references in the talkpage, but I'm unable to find it. BrandonXLF (talk) 22:45, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Progress

Brandon,

You have streamlined it nicely already. Would you like me to try and pick the most pertinent citations and remove the remaining? Also, some that may be in the wrong place or that were already there seem tricky to altar. Is it best to have them at the end of a specific sentences or paragraphs topic? Also, it seems a little ling in the tooth in some places. With no more than 10 when there is a large abundance on one or more topics? In retrospect it does look like overkill in some areas. Point well taken. Thanks again for being helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natureofnight (talkcontribs) 00:32, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, that would be a good start. The best placement for a reference is after the text that is "from" that reference. Normally references are after a comma, sentence or even an individual word. They should be after a paragraph when the whole paragraph is "from" that reference. There should only be up to 3 or maybe 4 references in a row, with a decent gap between "groups" of references. Checkout WP:INLINECLUTTER, WP:IL, WP:INCITE, and WP:OVERREF. P.S: When you are replying to a talk message, there's no need to start a new topic. Also remember to end your comments with ~~~~ to sign them. BrandonXLF (talk) 00:44, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

It will also automatically add your signature so you won't have to use ~~~~ when using it. BrandonXLF (talk) 00:56, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

First Attempt

Hi Brandon-

I tried simplifying the intro/portion Of the article intro section with subject specific cites never exceeding 3. I’m having some difficulty lining up numbered sites without spaces/gaps in between.

Anyhow. Please take a look and see if i’m headed in the right direction at the least? Thanks again.Natureofnight (talk) 18:38, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, looks good! You also don't need that many references in the lead, but what you have now is acceptable. Don't worry about any spaces/gaps or the numbering of the references, I can easily fix that. Just do that with the rest of the article and I think you'll be good to move the changes to the main article. BrandonXLF (talk) 19:07, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Fifth Paragraph

Hey Brandon,

I’ve worked into the 5th paragraph of the bio. Im slowly removing or relocating info where it belongs. Once i get through it all there will be much less cites. I’m leaving much of them at the bottom for reference when needed for now. Dont let the amount scare you;)

Let me know what you think up to my current position. I trimmed down the cites on the intro as well. Thanks again Natureofnight (talk) 22:57, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, looks good. The paragraphs you worked on look perfectly acceptable. I think there's a way to store extra references for future use on the talk page, so save some of the ones you remove for future use. Keep up the good work!BrandonXLF (talk) 23:07, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Update

Hi Brandon, I’m down to the 8-9th paragraph in the Bio & making great progress. I’m a little frustrated with this section. Trying to cover that summer tour portion as there were a lot of stops.

Could you take a look at this and give me a fresh perspective. Also, it’s grammatically off as well. Wanted to share it with you before tweaking. Its a but cluttered.

Big Red was displayed on tour at events throughout the United States with the support of Mack Trucks.[51]The tour schedule included Evel Knievel days, Sturgis Buffalo Chip,[52]Hollywood,[53] Great American Trucking Show, [54][55] Texas Motor Speedway,[56]and the Mack Museum of Allantown PA. It was featured prominently at the premiere of the documentary Being Evel,[57] [58][59] by Academy Award winning director Daniel Junge. Big Red will be permanently housed at the Evel Knievel Museum, which opened in Topeka, Kansas in July, 2017. McKay refers to it as the "mothership" of his collection.[60][61][62]

Let me know what you think of the progress!;) Again, i really appreciate this. It’s been interesting.

Natureofnight (talk) 17:25, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, you should find 1 or 2 sources that cover the entire tour if possible and add them to the end of the sentence. You also don't need more than 2 (or maybe 3) for a single piece of text. So far it's looking much better. Paragraph 4 (In 2004...) doesn't need 4 references in a row. The above paragraph in your comment is probably acceptable. I also noticed that the text Nashville Film Festival[72] in 2017 should be Nashville Film Festival in 2017[72] and there one or two sources that cover the entire sentence if possible. So far it looks much better, and only a few more paragraphs left! BrandonXLF (talk) 20:05, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Latest

Brandon, Tale a look at let me know what you think overall. I’m fried. I reworked the entire bottom portion and have shaved the cites way down from 120 to 76. Corrected the nashville film fest issue & edited the tour info.

I look forward to your thoughts & ideas and look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow. Thanks again. Natureofnight (talk) 01:00, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, I think the current sandbox is good enough to be published to Lathan McKay! Once you're satisfied with it, I think it would be a good idea to move the contents of the sandbox to the main article. Once it's in the article, it's a good idea to restrict the number of edits you make. The main advantage of it being in the article is that people can actually see your changes (of course) and other edits can improve it. BrandonXLF (talk) 04:13, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Concur

Thanks Brandon! It’s like an obsessive fascinating puzzle. Always seeing improvements & edits: I’ll do a pass tomorrow & get back to you. Thank you so much for being kind and helpful.

Natureofnight (talk) 04:25, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

ps

Forgot to inquire. What are the guidelines for external links and what is suitable? I noticed youtube is a huge no no on citations.

What can i add if anything to external links?

ThanksNatureofnight (talk) 04:28, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, checkout WP:EXTERNAL, specifically "What to link" and "Links normally to be avoided" sections. Keep in mind that acceptable external links differ from acceptable references and an article doesn't need too many external links (and in most cases doesn't need any at all). I'd say for your sandbox, you should not have the Facebook link (WP:LINKSTOAVOID), the other two links seem fine and I would keep them. BrandonXLF (talk) 04:37, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Finished

Brandon- I went through it a few times and corrected a few mistakes and am pretty happy with it.

Are the paragraphs spaced apart properly?

If you approve it let’s make it official. Again, I learned so much thanks to you.

Natureofnight (talk) 18:19, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, everything looks good to me. I think you did a really good job! BrandonXLF (talk) 19:00, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Picture

Thanks for the info. I’ll look into it this weekend.

I know the guy that took the photo.

He signed off on it to wikipedia by email. That’s why i tried to upload it.

I accidentally posted it there while trying to upload it elsewhere. Did not mean to.

Natureofnight (talk) 02:30, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

Code

Do i copy the code from the sandbox page or from the sandbox edit/coding box like here? Of so do i copy and paste the photo and mini window? I do not want to mess this up.

I read somewhere not to copy and paste the sandbox but maybe that meant in sections.

Natureofnight (talk) 20:54, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, in this case, copy and pasting is fine since categories are everything are still on your sandbox, you want to copy the code from the editing/code box (or here). BrandonXLF (talk) 20:58, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

ok

Then manyally delete the coding/exit box on the original page, then paste the sandbox code? Natureofnight (talk) 21:00, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, yes. BrandonXLF (talk) 21:02, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Check it

How does it look? Just need to remove the excess template up top?

Natureofnight (talk) 21:24, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, looks great. I did some copy editing to the article, removing some information that isn't needed. Since you seem to know what you're talking about, I think it would be a good idea for you to write an article about the Evel Knievel Museum. If you can't write a whole article about it, at least include a section about it in Lathan McKay. BrandonXLF (talk) 21:53, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

thanks

I figured i went a little overboard with some of the copy i grabbed from the imdb bio. I was pretty zoned out from staring at a phone for that length of time.

Do you mean an article within the article? Sub/Article After my eye site returns from doing this it would be fun to create a museum page.

What would the first step be? I really appreciate all your help. I read not to use adjectives after the fact.

Natureofnight (talk) 23:43, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, sort of, a section can be like a mini-article, but it has to be mainly about the main topic of the article, that's why it is better to create a new article if possible. You can draft up a new article either in your userspace (Help:Userspace draft) or in the draft namespace (Wikipedia:Drafts). For example you could create it at User:Natureofnight/Evel Knievel Museum or Draft:Evel Knievel Museum. If you were to go the section (article within an article) route, it might be a better idea to create it at Evel Knievel. Always make sure when you are creating an article, the topic is notable enough for an encyclopedia entry. An article should also preferably include a infobox and a picture. BrandonXLF (talk) 00:28, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
Natureofnight, also your picture at C:File:Resurrecting evel.jpg is going to be deleted if you don't prove that it's legally allowed to be on the commons. Did you take the picture? The picture says it's copyrighted by 365TRUCKING.COM. BrandonXLF (talk) 00:34, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

What do you recommend as the next step to reinstate the photo? I’ll gladly reach out to him again.

Hope you had a nice weekend.

Natureofnight (talk) 22:45, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, I think it's best to wait for a little. If he specified the file name in the ticket, then the picture should be restored. BrandonXLF (talk) 23:07, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

january 29

That was from january 29. He went through all of the protocol correctly and they still removed the photo. Something fell through the cracks.

He is willing to do it again.

Hope that helps

Natureofnight (talk) 23:20, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, do you know if he sent it to the Wikimedia Commons or to the English Wikipedia? Also, did he get an additional email confirming the ticket has been processed after the one above? BrandonXLF (talk) 23:26, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
Also, what licence did he release the photo under? BrandonXLF (talk) 23:28, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

My friend

Long story short- My friend in los angeles built lathans page a few years ago i believe. She had done his friend Julie’s and building his page was Julies idea as kind of a gift. Not long ago my LA friend stopped doing wiki gigs and i expressed interest in learning. She forwarded the content to me and said the photo was taken down twice & apparently he had a different image prior to this one. I have never spoken to or met lathan. I’ll go check the correspondence between Jim Allan & wiki & copy it for you. Be right back-

Natureofnight, I think the issue is that he didn't specify the file name, in the text about the file name is Lathan Mcas shown here: [Hippo Campus]. BrandonXLF (talk) 00:00, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank You

Doing this on an iphone is quite a task! Really appreciate your help. I’ll keep going and check in later. Natureofnight (talk) 19:37, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank You

How do we move it over to the actual article?

Still learning;) Natureofnight (talk) 20:22, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, you would go to [3], select all the code and then you would copy or cut it (and optionally delete it), then you would go to [4], select all the code and paste. You also want to make sure to describe what changes you made in your edit summary, there are no strict guidelines about it, but it should explain all the changes you made. If you do decide to delete/cut the code from your sandbox, remember to save the page. BrandonXLF (talk) 20:43, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

I’ll relay that to him. He should send it to wiki commons? Natureofnight (talk) 00:50, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

Natureofnight, yes. Make sure the tell him to specify the file name is https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lathan_McKay.jpg (Lathan McKay.jpg). He may find it easier to use https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wikimedia_OTRS_release_generator. He can also send an email following the proper format:
To: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org
