My recent post you deleted without reasons
editDear Blywood,
This is laneos. I take issue with your deleting my recent post without giving specific reasons for the action. The information I gave is accurate.
I am an editor and it is quite inappropriate to censor someone simply because I'm your opinion it "seems" to have issues. What are your reasons? Please explain and if there is in fact something I need to fix I will do so.
Thanks.

editYour edit of the photo does not make the picture clearer as it is now very small. On the Italian page it is a panorama but I am unsure how to set that up here. Thanks Roundtheworld (talk) 20:43, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Roundtheworld: - I can't remember what the policy is on this but I know it's preferred not to make a full-size image display on the English wiki as the header image for an article. See Castle Square, Warsaw and Piazza San Marco as examples of this. I think the problem is that setting a specific image size doesn't work for people viewing the article on unusual display sizes. Maybe put in another image (like the one on itwiki) as header and the large one lower down? St. Peter's Square article has a panorama and it's a good example of that - the header image is normal size. Blythwood (talk) 20:59, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Hi Blythwood. Thanks for uploading File:Fira Sans sample image.png! Could you upload an SVG of it as well? --Moyogo/ (talk) 16:34, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Moyogo: Am looking into this! I'm finding it a bit complicated since the SVG packages I'm familiar with don't have great font handling. But will think about it. I've kept all the original files in order to do conversions in future. Blythwood (talk) 23:18, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Additions to Wikipedia's dictionary
editSome terms that are frequently used in references are underlined in red in Wikipedia, although they are correctly spelled. I specifically recall the words "casemate" and "redesignated". I've seen erroneous edits made to eliminate these words from articles. How can I submit words for addition to the Wikipedia internal dictionary? RobDuch (talk) 05:26, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Bertrand Badie
editHello Blythwood, thanks for your message. Regarding notability, a quick check on google scholar with his name gives me 6500 results. I think that, added to 20 book results on barns and nobles (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/%22Bertrand%20badie%22?Ns=P_Sales_Rank&Ntk=P_key_Contributor_List&Ntx=mode%20matchall), it justifies by itself the article correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rinko87 (talk • contribs) 10:57, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

editI declined your CSD tag. Note at WP:CSD: This deletion rationale should only be used rarely. In the vast majority of duplicate articles, the title used is a plausible misspelling or alternate name for the main article, and a redirect should be created instead. This criterion should only be used if its title could be speedy deleted as a redirect. →Σσς. (Sigma) 22:16, 14 January 2016 (UTC) @Σ: - yes forgot that, sorry. Lactopontin
editThank you very much for your attention on Lactopontin. Its great to see people working and caring! I put the stub up at the request of another collaborator who is going to be adding a bunch of content to it soon (hopefully this weekend). Per your specific question, the name is not a trade or company name, but a name that is gaining preferred use in the scientific community for the particular protein secreted in milk, derived from SPP1. The protein is currently universally confused with the systemic protein Osteopontin derived from the same gene, but with a myriad of post-translational structure and physiologic functional differences. I've spoken with some of the researchers at UC Davis and UC Illinois who have agreed to add some of their most recent work that show why this is an important distinction. 17:56, 15 January 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Biotech5771 (talk • contribs)

Re: A page you started (Giuseppe Concone) has been reviewed!
editThank you for helping fill it out. My practice is to bring anything over to Wikipedia which I find in my travels through old encyclopedias on Wikisource which seems notable and not already there. The New International Encyclopedia seems to be a particularly rich source, as is Appletons' Cyclopaedia of American Biography. Library Guy (talk) 18:31, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
My article on Scan-A-Line is not promotional. It is an encyclopedic article about how that type of technology works.
editBlythwood:
You have flagged my article on Scan-A-Line technology for deletion because you believe it to be promotional. It is not a promotional article, but an explanation of how a fascinating technology works. However, the following article on Kleenex fits your description of a post eligible for speedy deletion because it absolutely promotes a brand: https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Kleenex.
Somebody doing research on non-contact measurement and guiding technology will find my article most intriguing.
Additionally, you did not state the reason for your action. You said "for several reasons" but failed to mention even one. Your decision appears to be arbitrary. If you have additional questions, please contact me, I am more than willing to answer any questions you may have.
Best Regards,

esyN page
editDear Blythwood
I am still in the process of updating the esyN page. To support the fact that esyN is a widely used resource I have mentioned the fact that its been used by large databased like flybase and flymine and Intermine and pombase to display their data (i.e. esyN is embedded in their websites and used to display their data!) These are quite large websites and I believe this should warrant the status of notable or not ? I have added a section called embedded where I have added these details. At the moment esyN is being used by roughy 16700 unique users per month according to google analytics - how do I make a proper reference to this data ? Should I use an image from google analytics ?
Also, I know of other research groups (unrelated to me) currently submitting manuscripts that use esyN - but these articles have not been published yet..
