Hi from Wil
editHi. My name is Wil. I was curious why the number of "very active contributors" that people are sweating is going down. So I figured I'd just ask them. You've been a pretty prolific editor, but after a big spike in 2005-2006 you've been slowly tapering off. From your edits it looks like your mostly in to TV. I'm wondering if it's just a matter of less spare time or something else. In any case, feel free to ignore me, but if you are interested in telling me a bit about your Wikipedia experience, you can visit me here: tell me about it. Or email me: wllm@wllm.com. Whatev's. Hope to talk more soon. ,Wil (talk) 05:18, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
editSee the talk page. While I wouldn't be surprised that there are other children's books on the Holocaust, according to the Post, (2nd cite) it is the first one. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 17:44, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I added a link on the talk page to a selective bibliography from the Holocaust Teacher Resource Center listing 23 other children's fiction books on the topic!--Orange Mike 14:42, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the Edit
editThanks for adding that "Fictional Dogs" tag to that Article.
Hey, man...at least SOMEBODY other than myself even remembers that show.
To this day, I don't know if I looked forward to each episode strictly because of Mighty Man, or strictly because of Yukk!!!

Need for a "Plasticman Comedy/Adventure Show" Article
editI would've written one, but frankly the ONLY thing that I can remember about that show is the "Mighty Man" part.
In fact, until recently my faulty memory had me believeing that they had their own show...!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thanos777 (talk • contribs) 03:26, 14 January 2007 (UTC).

Unspecified source for Image:Kes (Star Trek).jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Kes (Star Trek).jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:28, 14 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 21:28, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Image:Hodes.jpg
editI've tagged this image as fair use and replaceable fair use since I seriously doubt it was made by the USGov. If you could provide a source to a .gov domain or to a source that explicitly states it is from the USGov, that would solve this issue. Otherwise, it must be deleted. Thanks. --tomf688 (talk - email) 03:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Image tagging for Image:21_jellett.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:21_jellett.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:Auth_Chiang_05060312.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Auth_Chiang_05060312.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 07:01, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Image:140120046X.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
editI have tagged Image:140120046X.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 02:37, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Redirect of Sam glaser
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Sam glaser, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Sam glaser is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Sam glaser, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. AfD nomination of Charles Monitor
editAn editor has nominated Charles Monitor, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charles Monitor and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 15:59, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Slaughter Swamp
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Slaughter Swamp, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}

A tag has been placed on Momofuku (album), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SimsFanTalk to Me • Commons 16:53, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for File:RosenquistDoll.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:RosenquistDoll.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:05, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Jonathon Coudrille Light and Shadow.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Jonathon Coudrille Light and Shadow.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Bjones! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 97 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Jonathan Scarfe - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Kathryn Mullen - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 05:14, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Bjones
I note that you re-added the {{recent death}} template to the above-captioned article. As you can see from the template documentation, it is intended only for articles being heavily edited. As the article was not being edited remotely to the extent suggested by the documentation, I had previously removed it with an edit summary explaining why (and have removed it again). Is there some reason you re-added it?
Thanks, Bongomatic 15:19, 22 October 2010 (UTC) Should you wish to reply, please do so here. I will watch this page for a few days, so no {{talkback}} or other comment on my talk page is required.
- Hi Bongo. I was previously under the impression that the {{recent death}} template was standard for subjects until about a week after their death. And I have to admit not having read the history of the article, so I didn't know that you had removed the template before, nor your reasons for doing so. I have no reason to reverse your decision, and regret any inconvenience.Bjones (talk) 01:10, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Autopatrolled
editHello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:
- This permission does not give you any special status or authority
- Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
- You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
- If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
- If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 15:11, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Reversion
editMichael Stipe First off, let me say that I was mistaken in thinking that the template documentation was clear on this--I was wrong. I thought that this section of the template: Template:Infobox_musical_artist#instrument would mention something about how the instrument
field is only for instruments that are common or characteristic of the artist, but it does not. My thinking is that while Stipe has played an instrument on a few recordings, he's really only known as a singer and he's performed on record about a half-dozen times in 30 years. If you think of someone like his bandmate Peter Buck, including every instrument he's ever played would be overwhelming, so it really only makes sense to mention a few for which he's more well-known. Does that make sense? —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 17:16, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Greetings
editI was wondering if you would lend a hand to a novice Wikipedia editor. I see that you are an active editor and have contributed to the page More than Just a Dream. I am asking your help in undoing an edit from a user named Zippanova. The edit involved renaming the title of the page to that which contained an improper capitalization. I have browsed the edits made by Zippanova and I have seen that this user has made a genuine effort to fix capitalization errors on some Wikipedia pages, yet this edit is simply not necessary. The word “than“ is capitalized when used in a title according to APA, Chicago, and MLA formatting guidelines. The album name "More Than Just a Dream" in its entirety is a proper noun and its formatting should be kept consistent when referring to it. The album is mentioned throughout the article with its proper capitalization, however there is an error when the title of the page refers to the album. I have spent time reading the Wikipedia policies on capitalization and it talks about discussing capitalization changes with other editors before pursuing an edit. I am frustrated that Zippanova has changed the page in questions title and I am more frustrated that I myself am unable to fix the problem due to my lack of editing experience. Please help me correct this mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cjd9cn (talk • contribs) 07:10, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Theatre companies in South Carolina
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Theatre companies in South Carolina requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited K Callan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fish (TV series). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Contribution to Life's What You Make It (Talk Talk song) article
editHello Bjones. Thank you for your recent contribution to the Life's What You Make It (Talk Talk song) article. The content you added has twice been removed by Synthwave.94. Whilst I'd agree that the references you provided needed improving, I believe that the removal of the content was unhelpful. Unfortunately, some editors choose to resolve issues by deleting content rather than taking the opportunity to fix the problem. I've left a message on Synthwave.94's talk page, which you can read here. Pololei (talk) 01:46, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, Pololei. To an extent I respect Synthwave.94's intentions, since we do need good sourcing. Had the passage been removed again after I added The Quietus as a source, then I'd start to wonder.Bjones (talk) 19:37, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

editIf we're following the ruler that somehow got approved about notability on disambiguation pages there at least have to be a link in the sentence that shows that the album or artist has some notability, otherwise literally any nonsense can be included on it.★Trekker (talk) 22:32, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

editHello, Bjones. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. DYK for Sideways (comics)
editOn 3 April 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sideways (comics), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the first issue of the comic book Sideways featured a vertical gatefold cover? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sideways (comics). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sideways (comics)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Survey Invite
editI'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take no more than 1-2 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.
Your survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9S3JByWf57fXEkR?Q_DL=56np5HpEZWkMlr7_9S3JByWf57fXEkR_MLRP_bO5jypqBoLnY4e1&Q_CHL=gl
I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.
Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 01:02, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
Nancy
editI did not read that carefully. I thought that was her real name. Anyway, the comments online indicated this was true, so i should have known. The reception of this new artist by online commenters is overwhelmingly negative, but I assume we can't use it.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:17, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- A few comments on the GoComics site in her first week on the job don't really tell you much. Down the road there might be something to say about her reception. I haven't heard any speculation yet on who "Olivia" might be, but her style rings a bell, so I'll keep looking.Bjones (talk) 03:47, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- That's true. Until someone writes about the negativity, it doesn't mean anything in the long term.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:45, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Interesting development. Now we find out a lot of people hated Guy Gilchrist's style. I have to admit I wasn't crazy about it but I was at least used to it until the gocomics site introduced classic strips by Bushmiller. But the negativity about the new artist is still there.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:47, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- I kind of disliked Gilchrist's style because it seemed like pandering to a certain portion of the audience and a lot of times wasn't very character based. For me the jury's still out on the new artist.Bjones (talk) 17:41, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Would be nice is someone could find evidence of both our statements that we could use here.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:51, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

- The A. V. Club's a pretty good source for entertainment related content. I skimmed that article earlier. Have to reread it to see if there's anything solid enough to use here.Bjones (talk) 22:38, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Category hierarchies
editYou asked about what I called a "grandfather category". To use your example, Category:Musical groups from Nashville, Tennessee. The article already had Category:Indie rock musical groups from Tennessee and Category:Alternative rock groups from Tennessee on the article. If you start at the first, it’s already in the category of the second (but that’s questionable) but I’ll remove that shortly). Alternative rock groups is in Category:Rock music groups from Tennessee which in turn is in Musical groups from Nashville, Tennessee. We want the most fine-grained categories without any duplication of those that enclose them (a parent or grandparent, etc.) so in this case, only Indie rock musical groups from Tennessee is needed. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:50, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
- Are you sure, though? Not all indie music groups from Tennessee will be from Nashville, and obviously not all music groups from the world's country music capital will be indie rock, so they don't seem really redundant to me.Bjones (talk) 05:07, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
- I totally misread that! Feel free to fix it even if it means reverting me! Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:49, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Inherit portrait.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Inherit portrait.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 19 July 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Comic strips started in the 2010s
editA tag has been placed on Category:Comic strips started in the 2010s indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
