I found some pictures, should I contact the artist and ask for a picture? Also www.amazon.com/Temptation-Belly-Dance/dp/B000MMX8L4
is where Temptation of Belly Dance can be purchased.
I found some very cool footage.
How do I write about this artist and provide information about his history and accomplishments? I have added links and will continue to add more verifiable sources. Some facts are gained through personal interviews and contacts. Should I rebuild the page from scratch? I'm sorry, I'm not very computer savvy, but I did want to write about this artist. Any advice on writing about him would be appreciated.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING! You are appreciated!

Ronnie Nelson
editHe (you?) sounds like a nice guy, but you're going to come up hard against Wikipedia's standard of "notablity" in this case. On Wikipedia, in order to establish notability, you have to be able to show that the subject (Ronnie) has "received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". The Go-Go Magazine article you linked to doesn't quite achieve this, since Ronnie is only mentioned in passing in it. The Hybrid Magazine article isn't much stronger: "The band is made up of relative unknowns in the musical world: Jivananda on electric sitar and guitars, Ronnie Nelson on bass and synthesizers, and Denver music scene long-timer George Edwards on percussion."
All the other sources you provide are either affiliated with the artist or are essentially just promotional announcements. What this amounts to is that outside of his local scene, Ronnie is not known, and Wikipedia is not an acceptable conduit for achieving fame -- you're either known to the world, in which case you should have a Wikipedia article, or you're not, in which case you shouldn't. If Ronnie's activities had been covered at length by more than one major (i.e., national) newspaper or magazine (not just a website), then his article here would be secure. But since there is no such coverage, Ronnie's article will not remain on Wikipedia in the long term. To put it more bluntly, the article will be deleted.
So, sorry to break the news to you. Is there anything else I could help you with? Do you have any more questions?--Father Goose (talk) 21:15, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Here are more sources
editThese are articles written in The Rocky Mountain News
I'm finding more an more information, some of it is archived, do I just post the link and let those who wish to read the article register as member?.
From Westword Magazine
http://www.westword.com/1996-09-26/music/feedback/
http://www.westword.com/1996-09-19/music/westword-music-96-awards-showcase/16
http://blogs.westword.com/backbeat/2008/05/westword_music_showcase_year_o.php
More to come.
- These two sources: [1] [2] would almost justify having an article on Sympathy F: the sources are reliable, independent from the band, and more than passing mentions. If you could find several more sources of that exact sort, that talk about the band at length (not just list concert dates or "also featured"), then I could help you create an article on them.
- An independent article on Ronnie is still not looking likely... and Sympathy F is still a bit short of where it needs to be to ensure its place in the encyclopedia. But keep looking for sources -- with a couple more good ones (not blogs), we might be able to do it. Read WP:BAND for more thorough guidance on what the community's expectations are regarding these subjects.--Father Goose (talk) 23:00, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
More info, still digging
editOk, I'm finding more stuff, but it's tougher than I thought, I think because of the time period.... just before the internet really took off.
Thank you for your help! I will get this page to the standard it should be for Wiki and the artist.
I'm also having past articles sent to me.
Here's more.
http://www.resurrectionsong.com/archives/001901.html
http://gallery.hermanshideaway.com/gallery/gallery/album995
http://www.meermusic.com/content/artists/public/digipres.asp?iid=42181
- Resurrectionsong is a blog, which makes it not a qualifying media source
- Hermanshideaway appears to be merely a picture-hosting site
- Meermusic seems to be little more than a directory of bands, or maybe a music-steaming site. Again, not a qualifying media source.
If claims like "Sympathy F was featured in Billboard Magazine and listed in the top 100 on the college radio charts. Also, the band was voted the Best Band in Colorado" can be substantiated, however, that'll probably push it into "notable" territory. It would depend on who was doing the "best band" voting, though a Billboard listing is almost definitely notable.--Father Goose (talk) 06:22, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for going through the links and I will continue to do the same. I spoke with another artist who has actual news paper clippings from the early 90s and I asked that it be sent to me.
There are news clipping from the defunct Rocky Mountain News and those are being sent too.
I'll contact Westword today about the Best Of for the band and ask where I can confirm.
Although this is difficult, it's actually been kind of fun digging for the material.
Thanks again for the help, stay tuned for another round. :)
- It looks like the "college radio" chart is not a true claim, or at least, it's not a Billboard chart ([3]; search for "college radio").--Father Goose (talk) 03:09, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I also became aware of Ron Nelson, a different musician who may produce false hits when searching for Ronnie.--Father Goose (talk) 03:11, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Clarification on Billboard magazine. It was Billboard Magazine that reviewed the Sympathy F album that was listed on the college charts. I will search for the listing on the charts as well as finding how many college radio stations played the music.
This would have been either 1992 or 1993. I have posted on the Billboard form asking how we can get the Album review from 1992-1993. I will contact the Caustic Fish Record label, I mean one of the founding members of the label and ask for proof or the review itself. This may take a few days but I will get it. Here is the post to Billboard form:
Hello Keith
We're trying to get information on a band named Sympathy F. I thought it was a Billboard college charts, but I just found out that it was an album review by Billboard. This would have been 1992 maybe 1993.
Can you please help me get this information, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob
Searching Ronnie Nelson Bhakti Rasa
editI've found these sites and I know I need to organize them and pick them a part. I think it's clear Ronnie Nelson is Bhakti Rasa and has sold albums nationally and beyond.... do you think this has been proven? I'm working on the articles next
Your help is greatly appreciated.
You can tell I'm on mission to make this page great.

- I'm afraid not a single one of the above links helps to establish notability for the artist. You'll have to find major media sources (i.e., magazines or newspapers with circulation > 50,000) talking about him or his bands, and more than just mentioning his name.--Father Goose (talk) 07:38, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

More info on Ronnie Nelson
editHere are two more links about his band.
I believe that he is a worthy artist!
His Contribution as an artist are numerable, especially for the world wide audience at Burning Man.
He is not the type of artist to brag about his accomplishments and the 80's early 90's were not well documented on the internet, because there was no internet.
I have been providing many links and request some time to gather all the information. I have physical articles being sent to me and I've found many links.
Also, Fame Games, which is an international radio has played his music and talked about him.
I can provide those links again.
I also provided the links to Temptation Of Belly Dance which list him as a producer and artist. Did you see that link?
Here are two more links..... more to come.
Information Found
editI just received 10 articles about Ronnie Nelson and his musical projects. There are pictures of him to go with the articles from 1. the Denver Post 2. Westword magazine 3. The Rocky Mountain news 4. the Denver Post.com 5. 5280 magazine
I will scan these newspaper clippings finally proving Ronnie Nelson's notability.
Thanks for making me do this as the artist deserves the information to be collaborated.
Also, I have a request into Westword to validate that Sympathy F was indeed voted Best Of Denver by the Westword Music Showcase.
Please give me until tomorrow to scan the articles and until Friday to get the Best Of Documentation
Thank you Bhaktirasa (talk)Bob

editArticles received and scanned..... where can I upload them?
I have scanned the hard copies of the articles written on Ronnie Nelson aka Bhakti Rasa aka Sympathy F. Where do I upload the articles for verification? I do not know how to upload the articles to this section. I scanned them as individual JPGS and as a PDF. Please tell me how to do this and I will post them right away.
I also ask that the powers that be to please google Ronnie Nelson Bhakti Rasa and Sympathy F and you will find a ton of links.
Also, please look at the dozens of links I have posted. I do believe the current information I received and scanned today will resolve the notability issues.
Thanks for all your help.

- E-mail them to me, I'll look over them. You can't upload them to Wikipedia, as they are copyrighted works, and Wikipedia can't host them.--Father Goose (talk) 03:06, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Father Goose..... I am so sorry.... I just not very good at this..... could you please tell me what your email address is? I know it should be easy to email you, but when I click on your name I see no email address. I will send the articles to you ASAP or if you like I can post my email address for you. Sorry I'm so slow... but I've learned a lot from you guys.
How would you like the scan? JPGS or PDF?
I also found out that Ronnie aka Bhakti Rasa won song of the week on www.amazef.com and his song "Hello Means I Love You" Was Played on the Hugh Hewett radio program for a national audience.

Also let me know what additional info you would like.

- If the picture is to be included in his article (assuming he sends one), he will have to be willing to release it for free use (by anyone, not just Wikipedia). The best license for this purpose is probably http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ . And he'll have to send an email to Wikipedia stating that he's willing to release it under that license. LOL..... I had no idea how difficult the process is and how much work the contributors and especially those who facilitate and help shape the pages go through.
Robert Altman's Short Cuts "How Does She Do It So Quickly"
Ok, here's is information on The Trees. I guess the band had a few challenges, but they released some music and a music video, which "How Does She Do It So Quickly" music video was in the Robert Altman 'Short Cuts' and on the sound track. The video is uploaded here http://www.enlightenrecords.com/main.htm You have to watch the video to see the credits roll at the end. Ronnie Nelson is listed as Screen Play Writer, as an actor under cast, as the band and he played the bass on the track. He did produce and direct, but Michael Altman is only listed. Cute Video.
Here's the link to confirm it is on the Short Cuts Sound Track..... #16 and http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:jjfwxq9gldke track # 17
I will see if a photo can be released. Thanks for the link.
