Mark Clarke (politician)
editAnother editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Mark Clarke (politician), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 17:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am fully aware of what a PROD is for. I looked at the references that you added, none establish notability, and so I have sent it to AfD. Darrenhusted (talk) 11:54, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Mark Clarke (politician)
editAn editor has nominated Mark Clarke (politician), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Clarke (politician) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:00, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
WP:LOTD
editCongratulations! A list you have been involved with was selected a WP:LOTD for May. You may want to add the {{ListoftheDayheader}} or {{ListoftheDaylayout}} templates somewhere in your userspace. Other template options are at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/templates. Your list will appear as WP:LOTD twice. If you have any date preferences in May let me know by April 25th.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 19:37, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

The Economy section of this article states "Subsistence farming and fishing remain the primary economic activities, particularly off the capital island of Funafuti". This needs a little more explanation. Do you know what kind of farming is practiced in the island? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 08:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Three Rivers Council election, 2008, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Three Rivers Council election, 2007. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 11:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Looks to me like the article Libertarian Party (UK) will lose the AfD debate so I have copied much of the text to your other article Libertarianism in the United Kingdom. Jonathan A Jones (talk) 20:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- UKIP as "libertarian" - I dont think UKIP can credibly be called libertarian. They do of course have members who are libertarian (as do many parties) and those members may say the party is libertarian (as do many parties, in the hope of gaining extra votes) or wish that it was, but the party's policy platform is no more libertarian than the Greens, Lib Dems, or Liberal Party. The reference is just a blog post and not serious evidence. However, I have no desire or time for an edit war so will leave your edit. Fig (talk) 21:53, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Constituent country
editThere has been a long centralized discussion at Talk:United Kingdom, in which it was decided with 83.33% consensus that constituent country would be used to describe England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. However, users at Scotland are saying that they will not accept a consensus made on another page, so I would like to inform you that there is now a similar vote on the Scotland talk page. Luxembourgish/Lauxembourgian again
editHello Bastin,
I just wanted to let you know that the question of Luxembourgian/Louxembourgish seems to have come up again at Talk:Luxembourg#Adjectival form?. I haven't answered yes as I never recall myself and I no longer consider this an issue as long as we retain a standard. Maybe you could explain why Wikipedia:WikiProject Luxembourg chose one form over the other.--Caranorn (talk) 10:45, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree a standard is needed, but as someone who lived in the English speaking community in Luxembourg for a long time, noone ever used the word 'Luxembourgian' I don't know why this controversy has lasted this long. I and others have expressed similar views here Please can we change the style conventions? Teutanic (talk) 15:45, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
editHi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
