UEFA Cup 2007-08 first round

Negative. It shows that they don't want this article be here. Regardless putting more template, they would still doing things about delete. Maybe it is need to make a Deletion review. But I have no mood to do anything edit now, they sorrowed me. Raymond Giggs 20:12, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

(Re: my talk page) - OK, so we've established that the First Round is a "proper" round. However, it's the only one before the group stage, so is there enough scope there to create an article for just one round? – PeeJay 13:08, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think, perhaps, that we have more grounds here for the deletion of UEFA Euro 2008 warm-up matches than for the recreation of UEFA Cup 2007-08 first round. – PeeJay 14:09, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

OK, it's not a style guide, but it's my opinion that it looks right that way. Having a space there makes it look weird. That said, we could remove the parentheses. Would that work for you? – PeeJay 19:31, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"future event" template

edit

Hi there, I noticed you had a go at changing it but you reverted it - did you have problems getting it working right? -- Chuq (talk) 08:46, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Look good - just a question with what you are doing - would it be worth having another variable "type_of_team" or something like that? Then people can set it to "fb" for football teams, "fbw" for women's football teams, "cr" for cricket teams, "bb" for baseball team, and so on. It could even default to "fb" if not entered. It would mean you wouldn't need two variables for each medal/position etc. -- Chuq (talk) 09:55, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ooops, I didn't notice that :P I'm sure there must be an easier way of doing it without introducing multiple variables? -- Chuq (talk) 10:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Benfica - Getafe

edit

Yes, I see where you're coming from. To be honest, it could be argued both ways, and because of that, if you want to change it back to Benfica - Getafe, I won't change it again. – PeeJay 23:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I noticed that. When the draw for the Round of 16 was performed, Getafe was drawn first, so the first leg should have been played at their home ground. However, since Benfica and Sporting were both due to play in Lisbon for the second leg, I assume that's why the tie was reversed. – PeeJay 23:42, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

2004 West Asian Football Federation Championship

edit

Perhaps you could explain why you keep changing the Iraq national team in the article to Iraq B. No sources have Iraq national team as Iraq B, not even the official website of the championship.  ARTYOM  20:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

In 2004 Iraq had 2 teams, Most of our Best players (Younis, Hawar, Bassim, Nashat, Noor Sabri.. etc) were young and fit to play for the Olympic team, The Olympic team coach was Adnan Hamad. In that Time our NT Coach was Bernd Stange who was appointed by the Previous FA. Stange couldn't chose the Olympic team players so he called Old players to represent Iraq and also called players from the Iraq League and mixed them together. after the WAFF Championship our FA sacked Berng Stagne as an excuse due to the poor results and gave the job to Adnan Hamad to be the coach of both teams (Olympic and National Team), but the NT wasn't that efficient so Adnan Hamad decided to use the Olympic team as National team in the Asian Cup. Mussav (talk) 21:30, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ps. let's keep the discussion here. :) Mussav (talk) 21:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see what you mean. But I have to say that players who played in that WAFF championship represented the national team, not the Olympic (or B) team. If, for example, the head coach of some national team decides to experiment in a single match or in some kind of competition and calls in the players from, let's say, that country's national under-19 team, we cannot say that the country was represented by its under-19 team in the match. The under-19 players played for the national team in this case, so the national team should be credited with the match result, and not the under-19 team. As far as I understand, the case for the WAFF championship is similar, so I think "Iraq B" should be changed back to "Iraq", because the players represented the national team.  ARTYOM  21:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
What you are saying is right, but what our FA announced and what our TV media announced is the B team, also I believe when Brend Stange sacked he defended himself and said that he didn't choose the best players. Iraq played with the B team in the 2007 King's Cup so what it makes the King's Cup team is B while the 2004 WAFF team is A? in the end the WAFF Championship is not an official tournament. Mussav (talk) 23:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps it was announced as a reason for the Iraq national team's poor performance in the competition (4th place), but noting this in the article violates WP:NPOV in my opinion.  ARTYOM  09:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmm.. Maybe you are right. :) Mussav (talk) 22:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay! I changed it back :)  ARTYOM  22:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, Okay.. Until someone finds a reliable source which proves Iraq played with the B team. :) Mussav (talk) 22:56, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

UEFA Euro 2008 warm-up matches

edit

Thank you for saving this article! I still don't see why it got deleted! Wouldn't it be possible to put it back as a 'real' article with a different title? Just to make it easier for people to find. I think many are interested in these matches. -- Rosiefromconcrete (talk) 21:56, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I checked out the comments suggesting to keep this article, before it finally got deleted and really I cannot come up with better ideas. This tells best why I think this article is essential : "this very article has been referred in several locations as the BEST and ONLY complete list of pre-tournament friendlies." I think the same person wrote this too: "It also lists ONLY the matches of Euro 2008 -teams, while from the other sources the same matches have to be filtered from amongst several other international matches." If this wasn't convincing for some editors then I don't know what would be a good reson for them. What I really don't understand is why it 'hurt' anyone that this article was on Wikipedia - even if some think these matches are not notable - that it had to be deleted! -- Rosiefromconcrete (talk) 22:49, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Might I suggest that the summaries of each stage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup that you've just added be converted to a separate summary section? Goal times

edit

Please don't put in wrong goal times just because the 'official' match report says so. If we did that for the World Cup articles we'd have to change half the articles as FIFA's match reports are known often to be wrong. The TV footage on ITV clearly shows the goal was scored on 18'59"; that is a better source than a UEFA match report. Mjefm (talk) 18:58, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome :). I'm currently adapting all of the 2008-09 season articles with the fb r's, in order of UEFA coefficients. The only problem so far is with Israel's Ligat ha'Al 2008-09. I fear that some people could be upset if I change the layout of this article because all Israeli season articles look like that. See also the discussion on that topic at the corresponding talk page. Russian wiki help

Hi! I was just poking through here looking for answers to a couple questions, and noticed you had offered to help another user with Russian. Any chance I could make use of that offer, too? It appears that last year, someone registered with my name over there, but, as best I can understand, hasn't made even a single edit. Any idea where I should be asking to have that name transfered to me for unification, and/or what I should even be asking? If not, no biggy, as I doubt I'll ever be editting there anyhow, but it does seem a bit silly for it to be taken while having no edits. Thanks either way! -Bbik 23:51, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: WholeDayEdit in Russian

edit

To be honest, my request was made out of an emotional point of view caused by tiredness. Nevertheless, the proposed template might probably be a good idea because the Russian Premier League article is virtually the only one where (mostly anon) users only add their team's results and the effect to the standings, probably because of language understanding problems. It will be strange to add a non-English template to an English article page, though, so I leave the choice to create the template to you. It would be okay either way. Tajik language

edit

Hi Artyom,

In your user page I saw a box saying you understand Tajik language. I’m looking for a long time the correct lyrics of the former Anthem of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic. There is a word missing in the second stanza of the text given on Wikipedia. An anonymous user added recently the word "fara" in the transliterated version only, but when I listen to the song here, I don’t think this missing word can be "fara". Maybe there are other mistakes in this text. Furthermore, could you find the exact ponctuation of the text? I’m afraid the one given here is fanciful.

I thank you very much if you can do anything for this. Švitrigaila (talk) 11:13, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your edit. I’ve nothing else to ask for for the moment. I try to limit my participation on the English version of Wikipedia, it’s a sort of drug for me. ... However, I guess one day someone will have to put order on the article about the current president of Tajikistan. I don’t speak about politics, because I don’t know anything about it. I only speak about the correct form of his name: how many i there is in Emomalii Rahmon’s name? A part of the answer is here... Švitrigaila (talk) 21:54, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Invite to the African Destubathon

edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
