editThanks for uploading Image:Colotlan_iglesia.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Map on Crenshaw Corridor article
editFor your information, my "speculative" map is what is currently being looked at as actual corridors including the Northern section of Crenshaw Corridor which is included as a feasiblity study which is highlighted in the Crenshaw Corridor page. So could you kindly replace my original map that was on the page, since you deleted it.

If that is the case, then your map isn't consistent either because they haven't decided on the Westside Corridors, you're map shows only ONE alternative and even that is wrong. Where as per Community meetings as of June that they will update on the Project page, they will have to expand the scope of the Northern feasibility study which is stated in the actual Wikipedia article. So please look through those documents again please and not just post the link to the map but read the actual reports and hear the presentations given by Metro. editHi, your plots: Image:USCommutePatterns2006.png and Image:USCommutePatterns20069(2).png are very interesting. Any chance we could get this in a linear (non-log) plot for the percentage? In general, using log scale on percentages is counterindicated because all numbers are within an order of magnitude. Here it takes would could be a straight line and inserts an artificial bend to it. It also makes LA look like it has half the mass transit usage of NYC and Phoenix like one quarter.--Loodog (talk) 19:50, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Essentially, the utility of a log plot is making numbers of different orders of magnitude viewable at the same time. For example, running a Coulomb's Law experiment, you'll get a 104 difference between a close point (.5cm) and a far point (50cm), requiring either an impractically large plot, or inability to see the points at one end. Also, in that case, the decades along with minor axes are usually marked so there's no confusing the fact that it's on a log plot.
- The problem with its usage here is the numbers, being between 2 and 80% (I'm guessing) is that they're within an order of magnitude. Because the minor axes aren't marked, coupled with the fact that its fairly rare to see percentages on a log plot, it's very easy to misread the graph and read space on the graph as equidistant. I understand there's clustering at the low end. May I suggest a linear plot with an inset showing a close-up of the low end?--Loodog (talk) 16:39, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it's 1.93 orders of magnitude anyway, which means all data fits in one of two decades. As for more data lines (which is a must if keeping in log format) Excel will do it for you. Right click on the axis and select a type of "minor tick mark". If you want to use a linear scale which I think is best, the inset I mentioned should just be a matter of excluding the outliers and copy + pasting that on top of the plot including all data.--Loodog (talk) 18:03, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

LACMTA Regional Connector Image
editJust three clarifications on your map to keep things simple.
- 1) Since both at-grade and subway options are still present on both maps. Could you rename the Flower-5th/6th St Station to "Flower/4th" since both alignments has "4th/Flower" as an entrance intersection.
- 2) The other spot is renaming 2nd/Main to a generic "Main Street" because the at-grade alignment will have a station on Main between Temple and 1st Street.
- 3) Finally, could show how the future Expo Line plays a part in it with either an aqua line from 7th St down Flower.

Wikipedia Loves Art! (February 27) The Smithsonian American Art Museum will be holding a Wikipedia Loves Art! meetup on Friday, February 27 from 5-7 pm in the Kogod Courtyard. This is a photography event involving Wikipedians, along with Flickr users and others, to generate content for Wikipedia. Come share your experiences, meet the other teams, and take some photos! Volunteer opportunity in Bethesda, Thursday, July 16
editThe Wikimedia Foundation will be conducting an all-day Academy at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland, on Thursday, July 16. The team that will be teaching at the Academy, a mix of paid staff and volunteers, is looking for four more volunteers to be teaching assistants, providing one-to-one assistance in workshops whenever a workshop participant has a problem following the instructional directions. (We currently have two editors signed up as teaching assistants, and are looking for a total of six.)
The NIH editing workshops are only for two hours, but volunteers are asked to meet the Wikimedia Foundation team at the hotel in Bethesda at about 7:15 a.m. (time to be finalized shortly) and to stay for the entire day, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. (The full schedule can be found here.)
The team is not necessarily looking for expert editors (though they are welcome), just people who can help novices who might get stuck when trying to do some basic things. If you've been an editor for at least 3 months, and have done at least 500 edits, you probably qualify.

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 18:53, 1 May 2010 (UTC). Wikimania 2012 bid, DC chapter & next meetup!
edit- At WikiXDC in January, User:Harej proposed that DC submit a bid to host Wikimania 2012. A bid and organizing committee is being formed and seeks additional volunteers to help. Please look at our bid page and sign up if you want to help out. You can also signup for the bid team's email list.
- To support the Wikimania bid, more events like WikiXDC, and outreach activities like collaborations with the Smithsonian (ongoing) and National Archives, there also has been discussion of forming Wikimedia DC, as an official Wikimedia chapter. You can express interest and contribute to chapter discussions on the Wikimedia DC Meta-Wiki pages.
- To discuss all this and meet up with special guest, Dutch Wikipedian User:Kim Bruning, there will be a meetup, Wikipedia:Meetup/DC 16 this Tuesday at 7pm, at Capitol City Brewery, Metro Center. There will be a pre-meetup Wikimania team meeting at 6pm at the same location.

Backstage at the Smithsonian Libraries is part of Wikipedia Loves Libraries 2012, the second annual continent-wide campaign to bring Wikipedia and libraries together with on-site events. Running this fall through October and November, libraries (and archives) will open their doors to help build a lasting relationship with their local Wikipedian community.
Organized by Wikimedia DC, this event will take place on October 12, 2012, and will include new editor training, a "backstage pass" tour of the National Museum of Natural History, and an edit-a-thon. Everyone is welcome to attend!
December 10 is Ada Lovelace's birthday! Not only was she the world's first computer programmer, but also the world's first female open source developer! Come celebrate with Wikimedia District of Columbia at Busboys & Poets for an informal get together!
The Washington, DC event will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Busboys & Poets on 5th St NW & K St NW near Mt Vernon Square. The area is easily accessible by the Red Line Chinatown stop and the Yellow Line and Green Line Mt Vernon Square stop, as well as by WMATA buses.
Wikimedia DC Holiday Party and Wiki Loves Monuments Exhibition

The festivities will take place on Friday evening from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM in the Zenger Room on the 13th Floor of the National Press Club, located on 529 14th Street NW, near Metro Center. There will be meat and vegetarian appetizers as well as a cash bar with specially reduced drink prices all night long.
