- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or sock puppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Emotion and WP:copyvio
editHi Arjun1491. I removed your recent addition from the emotion article for 2 reasons.
First of all, it was added at an odd place in the article, seems to put undue emphasis on this view, and the wording was more that of a speech than a neutral encyclopedic entry.
Secondly and more importantly. This text is identical to the text I found here [1]. Such verbatim copying is often a violation of copyright. Wikipedia is very careful not to violate copyrights and therefore does not allow copying materials (at least not without a clear license to do so). Please refrain from copying texts from elsewhere into to Wikipedia in the future. Arnoutf (talk) 12:12, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
- I just checked. It appears that the website I found claims the copyright on its contents ("Copyright © 2015 Ayn Rand® Institute (ARI). All rights reserved. Reproduction in whole or in part is prohibited. ARI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions to ARI in the United States are tax-exempt to the extent provided by law." [2]). So copying sections into Wikipedia is really not ok. I am not sure whether you copied other sections of this webpage (or other materials under copyright) into any other Wikipedia article, but if you did so. Remove all of these entries immediately to avoid problems for the project. Thanks. Arnoutf (talk) 12:16, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Sure, Thanks for the advice. I was unaware of the copyrights issue. I will be removing all the content which I have uploaded which violates copyrights. Arjun1491 (talk) 12:19, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
All the content that involved copyrights violation has been removed. Arjun1491 (talk) 12:33, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the prompt action. Arnoutf (talk) 13:03, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
